if your parents act as a guarantor, many times it is their credit that is improved, not yours.

You can call your credit card company and see if they'll take a lump sum payment that is a percentage of the total owed, provided you agree to cancel the account. They're usually ok with it, since: 1. they're getting something. You declare bankruptcy, they get virtually nothing. 2. you've probably already paid them ten times over in interest. 3. by telling them you're having trouble, you establish yourself as a credit risk, and they'd rather not deal with you. make sure the agreement includes a statement that there will be no hit to your credit, that your credit report will read "paid as agreed."

Val- Taken out of context: "I hopped onto Dan Ryan after work" just sounds WRONG!

I didn't have to do that... I listed my student job as income. I got a card with a 4K limit.

I had an instructor (Vinny!) make funny faces at me on my level three. it really helped!

I was taught to wear nothing on the right wrist due to potential bridle snag.

hehe. yup. my main credit card has a 12K limit on it. Combined with my two other cards, I could charge my entire first year of law school. Nobody needs that much f-ing credit! I'm half tempted to call and ask them to LOWER my credit limit, but I know that having a high limit and debt that is much less than the limit makes my credit score better.

dunno about where you live, but the lenders I spoke with around here wouldn't even talk to me without a co-signer, and I've got perfect credit. I've had credit cards for the last four years, and a perfect renter's history for the last three. Mortgage companies told me to "come back with a co-signer. You don't have enough credit history. What you have is good, but its not enough."

sorry- BULL! I worked for a property management company. the only time we EVER reported credit was if it was BAD credit. If someone paid on time, they never got reported as a good payer, and therefore didn't build credit. Edit: depends on the policies of the management company. many do not report. I can't say "most" do not report for sure, but that has been my experience. I've leased four different apartments, and not one has shown up on my credit.

http://www.mbna.com/index_main.html This is the company I got my first card from. The interest rate is kinda high, but if you pay it off every month, that isn't an issue, and after a year, you can call them and ask them to lower it.

I can't listen to MP3s on this computer. it doesn't have any speakers.

Register for a class at a community college, if you're not already a student somewhere. Walk around campus at lunch time. There's tons of companies who give out credit cards to students with little or no credit history. Some companies do verify that you're actually a student, though, hence, the registering for a class.

Yup, I have held a dust buster and a cat at the same time. I was cleaning up spilled cat food, kitty got curious, so I picked up the kitty to keep tails, ears, and whiskers out of the dust buster, and, unthinking, turned the dust buster on. I had claw marks down my back for a month!

they have a right to protest as long as they do not interfere or cause an undue nuisance (ie, blocking access)

I don't understand how it affects you anymore than you getting married affects me.

We knew about the anti-semitism. We did not know about the mass exterminations, which were the true nature of the holocaust.
-
The true nature of the holocaust was not known until after the war was over.

As a martial arts instructor, I'd be happy to put together a FREE self defense seminar for ANY female (or male!) skydivers in my area (southern california). I used to teach and help my instructor teach women's self defense seminars through southern california. They're usually an hour and a half long, and go over stuff like: 1. how not to get into a bad situation 2. what to do if you find yourself there anyway. 3. kinds of common attacks and easy defenses (the goal is to get you AWAY, not to beat the crap out of the attacker)

What do you include for "free" in a repack?
Nightingale replied to PhreeZone's topic in Gear and Rigging
something that really bugged me when I got my gear back from the rigger. They gave me back the container, with the main completely disconnected and unpacked. I'd planned on just swinging by and picking up the gear, and heading off to meet a friend at a different DZ. Instead, I had to reconnect my main and spend an hour packing it. It seems like most of the private riggers return the gear all packed up, while the lofts tend to give it back with the main all unpacked. Had they told me that the main would be returned disconnected and unpacked, I'd have gladly thrown in a couple of extra bucks to get the darn thing packed up before I got there, so I could just grab it and split. edit: I think the repack was $60 or $65 -
Her mother should have been more responsible with her weapon. That said, I think the school overreacted, but it seems as though the situation has been resolved to everyone's satisfaction.

as much as I disagree with the protesters, they have a right to protest, provided they are not overly disruptive to the events taking place.

"The Kerry campaign is quite unimportant compared to how people feel about Bush when they go into the voting booth" I think this is very true. I know several lifelong republicans who are either not voting or casting their first ever vote for a democrat this year. As much as they are not fond of Kerry, they fear Bush more.

Can I Jump At Perris Without An "A"
Nightingale replied to dropdeded's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Do a couple of coach jumps with the perris valley school and get your A. It'll make life much easier for you later on, because then, to jump somewhere, you just have to show your A card and logbook. The requirements are really easy, and if you have 50 jumps, you should be able to handle them no prob.
