I'm a democrat in California, and I say HELL NO! I taught fourteen year olds in school. Many of them weren't mature enough to decide to do their homework, much less research candidates and issues and go vote. All it'll mean is that most kids, if they vote, will vote either exactly the way their parents tell them to, or exactly the opposite, depending on the kid. waste of time and resources. They need to be 18. I think 18 is too young sometimes, but if they're old enough to be drafted, they need to have a say in who's sitting in the white house.

if you come to california, I'll go with you, and I'll buy you a jump at Perris or Elsinore. Otherwise, go see it, and I'll reimburse you for the cost of the ticket. -

ok. cool. call them and find out if they can issue a gift certificate that's good for a particular movie only, or if I can phone them and buy you a ticket with a credit card. otherwise, go see it, PM me a synopsis and your opinions, and I'll paypal you the cost of the ticket, if that's ok (or put the amount on your account at the dropzone, if you'd prefer) -
many lefties saw that movie last weekend... somehow I don't think most of them were "homeless and unemployed".

Chuck Norris Tandem Photos
Nightingale replied to DALAILAMA's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Chuck's a great guy! I met him a couple of times at Karate tournaments where his "Kick Drugs" kids were competing. He was one of the few coaches who didn't yell at the scorekeeper (me). -
do you give money to homeless people/beggars?

Patriot Act/Social Security/DMV problems
Nightingale replied to Nightingale's topic in Speakers Corner
no... I have a problem with the way Social Security is implementing the new policies that have sprung from the patriot act. The information sharing thing covers the DMV. The info has to match. Social security is the one who won't make the changes to correct their data so it will match, thereby causing the problem. The patriot act itself is so vague that the interpretation and implementation has been pretty arbitrary. -
I have my official birth certificate issued to me by the court, with the appropriate seal. what else am I supposed to do? and what about the millions of folks who've had their original birth certificate lost or destroyed and are walking around with official copies? And the Patriot act doesn't say anything about needing someone's original birth certificate. It does mention the information sharing (section 701). What I'm running into is not law, its policy.

you can call that movie many things, but ugly and horrible it is not. the movie is very visually engaging, from a cinematic point of view. it is well edited, well scripted, has a great sound track, and is well directed. if you meant to say that it doesn't agree with your political point of view, you're probably correct. However, if you wish to discuss it further, go see it. I will be happy to buy you a ticket. -

This was an awesome movie... even the two die-hard bushite conservatives I talked into going have grudgingly admitted to me that they laughed, enjoyed the film, and have thought about the information presented. -

heck, if they want my dental records, I'm going to the dentist on tuesday. (5 cavities! ugh!... and novocaine doesn't work real well on me. this ain't gonna be fun...almost as much not-fun as dealing with social security!)

agreed. Vibes and prayers heading out to those involved and everyone who is/will be impacted by what happened.

do you give money to homeless people/beggars?
Nightingale replied to Newbie's topic in Speakers Corner
only if they: 1. are a musician and playing at least halfway decent music 2. are an artist and can sell me a painting or something 3. can make me laugh... there was a guy on a corner in vegas with a sign saying "why lie? I need a beer!" I think every person I was there with was cracking up and gave him at least a buck. I give money to people who are doing something other than begging, Providing some kind of service or item. Otherwise, I do donate to charities around LA, and I figure if they are truly needy, my money will help them more in the long run if given to a charity rather than directly to the needy. -
glad your grandma is doing better!

My 16 year old made her AFF jump today!!

I played with the dark picture in photoshop. -
"Between you and me" is correct. the way to figure it out is to remove the extra people, and find out if you'd use "me" or "I" For example: Jaina and I went to the store. which sounds right: Me went to the store or I went to the store. another example: Mom gave the present to Billy and I. Which sounds right: Mom gave the present to I or Mom gave the present to me? In the first example, I is correct, and the second, Me is correct. People like to use "I" because they think it sounds right, but a lot of times they're wrong.

MSNBC What to Ask Before Jumping Out of a Plane at 13,000 Feet
Nightingale replied to Jumpervint's topic in The Bonfire
I found freefall VERY noisy on my first tandem. Was much better during AFF when I started wearing a helmet. -
I agree, but unless everyone changes their attitude at once, voting for a third party presidential candidate is a waste of a vote. I do vote for third party candidates in local elections, when I feel they will do the best job.
