  1. Well, it gets people to think and discuss before getting married. I think that's a good thing.
  2. Prenups aren't only about what happens if a marriage goes bad. Many people use them to dictate how things will work DURING a marriage. Who does what household chores, for example.
  3. I know. I just don't think it's really fair.
  4. Pick up the phone and call her. Confessions/requests like that are easier over the phone because you don't have to look the person in the eye, so things can be less awkward. If she's uncomfortable, it'll be easier for her to make an excuse and end the conversation. If she says no, tell her the conversation never happened, and act like it. She'll be uncomfortable around you for a little while, but if you keep treating her strictly as a friend, eventually you'll get back to the comfortable friendship you have now. If you don't say anything, she'll eventually pick up on it, and things will get really uncomfortable. Also, consider that she might feel the same for you, but think that YOU just want a friend. You never know.
  5. You can be charged with murder if you kill someone accidentally. However, it would depend on other circumstances, like if you were committing a felony like a robbery, and someone accidentally got shot. I think, like in the case of murder, in the case of the "stolen sperm", the court should look at the outside circumstances. As with murder, if there is no intent and no outside circumstances (had sex but she forgot her pill or something), I don't think the guy should be held responsible. The actions of getting pregnant would be entirely the woman's in this case, and therefore, I think she should bear all the responsibility.
  6. You can have brain matter but no consciousness. They can check brain waves for signs of higher thought. There have been cases of "parasitic twins", for example, siamese twins where one twin has a functioning heart and the other does not. If doctors do nothing, the heart gets weaker and weaker, not being able to pump blood for the twin it belongs to as well as the parasitic one. If nothing is done, both twins die. Doctors will usually separate them, the idea being that the parasitic twin was literally stealing the other twin's life, borrowing circulation. They are simply taking away access to the heart that the parasitic twin had no right to to begin with. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/920487.stm
  7. and if there's new evidence that turns up one day after that single appeal? or new technology to analyze existing evidence? Do you send a potentially innocent man to his death, or do you allow the evidence to be evaluated?
  8. you're not going down. Macs work differently.
  9. Because financially, the death penalty is more of a drain on society, as we have to allow appeals in order to be very careful that we don't execute an innocent. Defendants can have problems with incompetant council, shoddy police work, and biased judges (doesn't happen often, but it does happen), along with issues of new evidence. You can always let someone out of jail if there is new evidence. You can't un-execute them, so, as a society, we have to be certain, and certainty can be expensive. Also, one could make an argument that the death penalty is a spiritual burden on society, because as part of society we are somewhat responsible for the acts of society. Many people aren't too fond of the idea of breaking the "do not kill" commandment. Lock them up for good. If there is new evidence, they can be released. If they are guilty, they have a long time to think.
  10. The problem you're having doesn't seem to be a mac/pc issue. You'd have the same problem if you were running a new version of Office on a PC and your boss was running an old version of Office on his PC. My school has an older version of Office than I do, so when I want to print something, I have to hook my laptop straight into the network, because if I save the file and transfer it from my PC laptop to their PC desktops, the file turns out all wonky. My PC laptop and my iMac have no troubles with reading office files generated on either system, as they're both running the newest version of office. Out of curiosity, why has your boss not upgraded to the newer MS Office to solve the problem?
  11. That's one of the reasons I'm against the death penalty. It's too damn easy. Let them rot in jail...lots of time to think.
  12. just hide the sardines... behind the file cabinet, inside the computer tower, underneath the monitor stand...you get the idea. If you spread the sardines out and put them in hard to find/hard to reach places, then it will be difficult to figure out where the stink is coming from.
  13. Mac. You won't regret it. You may not even need as much new software as you think. I got my mac over a month ago, and the only software I've had to buy for it has been a few computer games.
  14. I've gotten coaching at both DZs, and did my AFF at Perris. I'd pick Perris. They also fly more loads than elsinore, so it's more likely that there will be a plane taking off when you need it, rather than having to sit around and wait.
  15. I'm so sorry. It's awful to lose a friend. ((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))
  16. Posting this here at all indicates a lack of respect. I think Andrea was dead on.
  17. Because he didn't really want the answer. He just wanted confirmation that he was "right."
  18. if you put super glue on the raw skin above your chewed nails, they won't sting in the shower. Orajel or anbesol will make them stop hurting. In the nail polish section of the grocery store, you will find nail-biter polish. It tastes TERRIBLE. that might help, or at least make you more aware of when you're biting.
  19. well, if you read her email without her permission, you should be able to understand that you wouldn't get a good reaction to that. I know if someone read my email without my permission, they would get a very negative reaction to whatever it is they were trying to get me to agree to, simply because of the gross invasion of privacy. If she LET you read her email (or told you), she's obviously not hiding anything. People hide things when they're being dishonest. They sneak around. If she had feelings for this guy other than that of a friend, there's pretty much no way in hell she'd be telling you about how she signs her emails. Just the fact that she TOLD you is a strong indicator that there's nothing other than friendship going on.
  20. it's only in the past few hundred years that marriage has been about love rather than property. Although, from seeing some of the posts on this thread, I'm starting to wonder rather it's STILL about property.
  21. if it was a request, she'd have had the option of saying "no" and giving you an explanation. It doesn't sound like she's getting the option to turn down your "request" without you filing divorce papers. Like someone said above, ultimatums are never good. they take a bad situation and make it worse.
  22. so, she tells her girl friends "love ya", She tells her guy friends "love ya" I'm really not seeing a difference here.
  23. it doesn't sound like you "asked". It sounds, from your post, like you "demanded" or maybe "threatened". No woman is going to react well to that.
  24. The way I read your post was that you feel that hanging out with/emailing/whatever someone you were romantically involved with in the past would be a bad idea. I don't think that's always the case. It depends on the individual circumstances.
