  1. This thread just proves that a true comparison will take a considerable amount of time form a highly educated person or group of persons. Fact that we all know without the true comparison. Skydiving risks can be minimized by paying attention to skills, equipment, weather, skydivers on your load, drills and every other detail that you can possibly think of. At the end your canopy can still collapse close to the ground or you or a person in the air with you can make a bad decision. The risk is true and cannot be eliminated. Each time you get into the plane you risk dying. The risk is greater than sitting on your couch watching the game not drinking beer and not eating crisps. The risk is also greater than some other risks we take, and it is cumulative to other risks we take. Skydivers has a greater cumulative chance to die young than people doing nothing. I know that and I accept that. Tomorrow when I get into the Porter at JSC, death will not even cross my mind. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  2. Large heavy-bodied chiefly terrestrial game bird capable of powerful swift flight; classified with wading birds but frequents grassy steppes Yes that's what I said. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  3. Stategist - It seems to fit I, am definately not a nurturer or a provider, at least it got that part right. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  4. Just don’t go on a murder rampage over this, on the other hand, people are lazy f#cks that doesn't deserve to live. Empty a clip on the next bustard that sends you a sloppy fwd: fwd: fwd: >>>> email. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  5. Try to decide on the next position. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  6. Try to go again - repeat until I get a spanking for being so naughty. After that I will put in some work to promote my chances for future use of the well kept facilities. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  7. Congratulations and good luck. Skydiving should help along your self-esteem and give you something to make your live fun and rewarding. Just always remember your real mistake was not the drugs and the solution is not skydiving. You have to keep dealing with the stuff that bothers you when it bothers you. Posting to DZ.com is a good idea; just remember you are talking to fallible human beings that can give flawed advice. That said, I hope you get back up there soon! 8. I had a similar experience recently and it bugs me. I lost a brother 15years ago when he was only 10 months old. He contracted a potent form of meningitis and the fight was over within 72hours. The other day my dad starts a conversation. Basically he tells me, he lost a child once and he can't take it again. He tells me that he worries each time we drive off to the skydiving club. He tells me he would hold my friend responsible if anything happened to me and he says he is upset that I introduced my sisters and girlfriend to skydiving. I tried my best to absolve my friends from responsibility, (in his eyes) and told him I give everyone I introduce the information they need to make their own decision. He did not make any demands but I could tell he would only be satisfied with a pledge to stop skydiving. I'm not stopping but I am worried that it would tear our family apart if something happened to one of my sisters or me. This problem is as much a part of skydiving as your gear choices. Everybody has family who worries or friends that loose contact or a life partner that doesn't like the financial or risk aspects of the sport. Good luck, try to handle your dad as a loving father who worries about your safety. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  9. It's a ripoff, I'm sure I'm suposed to be a Redwood. I am however a little noble minded like an Elm Tree. What ever that means. "Ooooo" you know, like a cow without lips? There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  10. At least her boyfriend would have had mitigating circumstances on aggravated assault charges. Some stuff are resolved best by the laws of the jungle. Someone lick my GF, I will have to give him pain. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.

    Van Helsing

I don't know I thought the leading lady was bearable to look at. And I would let that vampire lady suck me dry any night or overcast day. Alright it had no story line but neither did Dirty Nurses 9. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  12. I am responsible, among other things, for backup prosesses on a couple of servers, it's a constant source of stress. I love it though when users lose data because they trusted the hard drive in their laptop or desktop. It's like, -ha, you ignored my email - nobody ignores my emails and gets away with it. About the time, it might just be the battery starting to go and might not be linked to the speed of work or software at all. Just a shot in the dark. 13. Nothing will crash, backups is for losers! There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  14. True, you cant read every damn thread, unless you can find employment where reading DZ.com is in your job description. A highly unlikely situation. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  15. A friend and I made a visit to this club when I was still busy to complete my freefall progression. The CI had no problem allowing us to jump. We had to wait a while for the pilot to arrive which almost turned a sunny day into an, overcast no jump day. Fortunately when the pilot arrived everything went smooth and efficient and we got into the air before it became too overcast. The crowds over the ocean on the one side and the mountains on the other side made for spectacular scenery. The club equipment I used was in good condition and all the facilities were clean and sufficient. While waiting for the loads to happen we sat in the hanger and engaged in some conversation with some of the locals. They seem like a friendly enough bunch. It was a good experience that I will repeat as often as opportunity allows.
  16. Funny story but a repost seems someone beat you to it.Too Funny There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  17. If they did they would probably hear the footsteps of the group of odd little green men following the lander just outside of it's field of vision. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  18. So we're standing at boarding point waiting for a Caravan load to happen. Next thing a guy is lying on the ground next to the parked Caravan throwing a tantrum. So the guy fell out of the Caravan while practicing the exit in the door and broke his wrist. So he gets to walk back, moments before they start up the aircraft. I'm just thinking that must suck big time. How do you tell that story at work? What other injuries do people get before they get into the air? 19. I know, I should change careers; my talent is wasted on IT. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  20. A female, government scientist, arrested in the subway for eating a candy bar. Damn this sounds like the really bad plot to a really good porn movie. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.

So the difference is something with the boat, right? There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  22. What does an avgas soaked kitty say when you throw a match at it. "WOOF" Bahaha, that's a really old, dry joke. With all the kitty killers around it's probably a re-post as well. I'm going back to work. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  23. That sucks, lawsuits will suck the fun and opportunity out of everything. As I read in another thread it will even take swings out of schoolyards and ban dodge ball. It's the adult version of running to mommy. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  24. Dilbert is so damn funny, there used to be an animated series on one of our local channels. I especially enjoyed one episode when he went to jail. While in the slammer he taught the other inmates the principals of economics and helped to set up a commodities exchange for commodities like cigarettes and pointy objects. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
  25. Someone should try beating her in the kneecaps with a baseball bat, that should have her going monkey style again in a jiffy. If we allow this, whats next, monkeys reading and then filling up the already crowded IT industry. We have to stop this trend at it's roots. There is a lot of stuff worth doing but then there is a lot of stuff worth doing instead.
