  1. HI, if you do a static line off say a antenna whats the fastest it can open and gain full flight. like can it do that in under 100feet ? and if so how many feet exactly, and by full flight I mean, fully inflated and flying forward at 4:1 forward to down etc
  2. no no do it again with the old parachute, the 1 you made that day and take a video of it this would be classic probably move to the number 1 spot of all my base videos I have collected

  10. New Sport!!! XLLSBASE Extreme low level Safe*er* BASE. main rules so far are. 1. must make own rig. 2. chute, container, etc etc all parts contructrion cost must come under $100 3. must have a parachute, if its in a rig you must make an attempt to deploy it. 4. no jumps over 30 metres 5. all jumps over 20 metres must be made over water. I'll give an Ipod to the 100th video made (after today) of this sport
  11. what just towe it in by its self ? or have it as the main lol ? or were you meaning use it as a PC ? how big is a tandam drone by the way ? I plan to actually make all my chutes from scratch
  12. LOL, I'm not that kind of person I do things for my self, besides very few people on this earth would even know what a base number is , probably for every thousend that know what BASE is probably only 1 knows what a base number is . Nah cant do that, can no longer skydive, my hips are relly bad, after a few K$ in scans and xrays, still not sure what it is , I havn't been back to my specialist since my last scans so I may find out very soon. if skydiving and base never used leg straps id be fine, but without leg straps.... lol. so yeah this back pack wont have leg straps lol I'm just really curious as to weather I can get it to deploy in under 10 metres, was thinking of maybe using a very large pilot chute and holding it open above my head and jumping and have it deploy the main chute but have the main be about the same size of a normal pilot chute. any oppinions on what the best configuration would be ? YES, of course its a scuba dive, this is how I started off when I was 5ish, I recommend you put a bucket over ya head, get someone to stand and float on the bucket and ya should be able to stay atleast 5 feet under the water for atleast a few minutes. Sorry for asking but what is ground launching ? also as someone said, its possible to jump off a 220 foot and hit water and survive without any planned landing style you'll have a 1 in 34 chance. so say ya have a total malfunction and ya hit the water and survive and sustaine injurys are these injurys really from a base jump ? seeing as though the parachute never deployed but you didnt die ?
  13. Hi all, If I make a container from an old back pack make a small chute , probably 60 sqr feet or so Pilot chute... maybe similar size???? lol and jump from a 30 or so foot bridge or cliff into water and I'm able to get the main to come out of the container and inflate will this be classed as a base jump ? and if so, if I can do this off a cliff, a bridge, a building and a antenna will this all be classed as a proper BASE ? kind regards
  14. I'm with ya's and I dont jump, Providing ya keep making all those kick ass vidz
  15. forgive my lack of knowledge on this subject. I know there has been debates about the diff between 48 and 50inch PC's etc but what is the reason people dont use some massive size PC off very low objects ? is it due to once the main is out the large PC would be pulling the main out of shape or some other reason ?
  16. tom when do you plan to stop ?
  17. man that bridge is orgasmic as soon as i seen it on the news I thought, "bet thats been jumped a few times in construction" imagine how many people could jump off it at once when htere is 10,000 base jumpers in the world ya's might be able to do a 10,000 way :)

  22. HIS NOT OFFICIALLY BRAIN DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,4057,11033067%255E401,00.html ===================================== Base jumper 'not brain dead' By Christopher Bodeen in Shanghai October 11, 2004 AN Australian BASE jumper badly injured in a jump from China's tallest skyscraper may not be brain dead and his condition is improving, a hospital official and media report said today. Roland Simpson, 35, suffered serious injuries last Tuesday when his parachute lines became twisted and he landed on a building rather than the patch of lawn designated for the jump. Hospital officials, the Australian Embassy and the Shanghai government - which organised the jump as a publicity event for the city - have given no details of his condition. A Chinese newspaper last week reported he was brain dead, citing unidentified hospital sources. However, a receptionist at Shanghai East Hospital's intensive care unit said hospital president Liu Zhongmin yesterday announced an improvement in Mr Simpson's condition. "He has taken a turn for the better. He's not brain dead or anything as the reports were saying," said the man, who asked that his name not be used. Shanghai's state-controlled media did not report Mr Liu's remarks. However, the Beijing Evening News quoted Liu denying Mr Simpson was brain dead, and said he was still receiving care. "His blood pressure is stable. Now we are trying to revive his brain and support his breathing. We are not now making the appraisal that he's brain dead," Mr Liu was quoted as saying. "The biggest problem is his brain injury. Recovery from a brain injury takes a long time," Mr Liu said. Last week, Mr Simpson's brother Craig posted a message on the Australian BASE Association's website saying Mr Simpson was effectively dead when he landed. "It took 20 minutes to bring him back but after 20 minutes of no oxygen to his brain there is nothing left and he won't be coming back," Craig Simpson's message said. Shanghai's Chengdu Business Daily last week reported Mr Simpson was listed as brain dead by neurological experts at the hospital. "The concerned departments of Shanghai have placed much importance on this and have brought in a lot of neurological experts for diagnoses," a hospital head nurse told the paper. "Most of the experts said Mr Simpson's condition conformed to brain death." Mr Simpson, known to his friends as Slim, was among 38 highly-experienced base jumpers from 16 nations invited by the Shanghai Sports Bureau to take part in the jump off the 421-metre Jinmao Tower. Mr Simpson was injured in a practice jump the morning of the event, which went ahead as planned that afternoon. Base jumping - an acronym for building, antenna, span and earth - refers to jumping with a parachute from a permanent surface rather than skydiving from an airplane. ========================== I hope the above is correct, as it would be good if a fellow human recoverd

  25. FROM http://www.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,4057,10222328%255E1702,00.html July 23, 2004 A BASE jumper is in a critical condition in hospital after his chute opened late during a 300m fall into a north Queensland waterfall today. The 28-year-old Sydney man was airlifted...by a Queensland Rescue Service helicopter and flown to Townsville Hospital, police said. Senior Sergeant Eric Darby of Ingham police said two Sydney men made base jumps at the falls this morning but one man's chute opened late. "His chute didn't open until too close to the water and he hit the water fairly hard," Sgt Darby said. The injured jumper was pulled on to a rock by his mate and other people at the falls called emergency services about 9.30am, he said. When the helicopter arrived, a paramedic was winched down to stabilise the injured man before he was hoisted out and flown to hospital. The jumper was to undergo emergency surgery today, police said. not sure if we post base accidents in here, but it is base news anyway.
