A-License requirements -- What is considered a "Skydive"?
labrys replied to Sttucker13's topic in Safety and Training
Any type of aircraft exit counts as a skydive in regards to the USPA 25 jump requirement. It doesn't matter if it's S/L, IAD, Tandem, etc and it doesn't matter who deployed. They just don't help much with the other proficiency card requirements in some cases. Owned by Remi #? -
Cleveland/Akron Ohio - Go get your "free" pizza from Papa Johns
labrys replied to labrys's topic in The Bonfire
http://www.ohio.com/news/18570744.html Swipe at LeBron gets fans 23-cent pizzas By Beacon Journal staff report Published on Monday, May 05, 2008 Papa John's is sorry that it called LeBron James a crybaby. The pizza company handed out T-shirts to Washington Wizards fans on Friday that carried the Papa John's logo, the word ''Crybaby'' and the number 23. James wears No. 23 and the shirts stemmed from James complaining about hard fouls during the series. Wizards center Brendan Haywood called him a crybaby. Faced with a backlash from fervent Cavs fans who started talking about a boycott for dissing their star, Papa John's offered up an apology Sunday. ''The decision to do this was made by a local Washington, D.C., Papa John's operator without approval of Papa John's corporate,'' the company said in a statement. ''Nonetheless, we believe this was in poor taste and sincerely apologize to Cavalier fans and LeBron James.'' To make up for the faux pas, the pizza chain also is offering a large, one-topping carry-out pizza for 23 cents per household at Akron- and Cleveland-area stores Thursday. The company also will donate $10,000 to the Cavaliers Youth Fund. ''We wish the Cavs and LeBron the best of luck throughout the playoffs,'' the company said. I have a beagle... and there's not one single thing that I could point out as a particular factor for making that breed the best. But... she lives with her nose on the ground and seems to appreciate every nuance of smell that she finds. Watching her move around and sniff is like watching a person read the paper. The best part of that is when she finds a really nasty smell she always looks up at me as if to say "wow, this is disgusting.... c'mon... take a whiff" Beagles are really great companion dogs. AFF #1--whoo hoo I did it!!

That seems very unlikely since the parachute has not been deployed at that point. Owned by Remi #? -
Tell him how you really feel, eh Billy? Or would you only give this kind of condescending encouragment to a woman and not a man? What really matters, man? That cute ass? Your manhood? Someone's safety regardless? Fuck that shit and that attitude. Owned by Remi #?

Not where I jump. We haven't done scrambles or even NSL in a few years, granted... but that also means no teams and it's not hard at all to hook up with a 4-6-8 way at all. I guess it depends on where you are. We are most certainly not a "maga" (sic) center. Owned by Remi #?

On the ground...visualize going to the door and let yourself feel the anxiety. Take a deep, deep breath and let the anxiety go. Keep doing that until you feel less anxious about going to the door. Think about these things: If you're on the plane and have decided that you want to jump and commited to going out, ask yourself if feeling anxiety about the door is doing you any good. It's normal to feel anxious about jumping, but there is no need to blame it on the door in particular. Try to think about that too. There isn't really a "door monster" right? Does focusing on the door or the anxiety help your exit or hurt it? Keep visualizing the door and letting the anxiety go until it's not your focus. Owned by Remi #?

I replaced the entire motor, which was only about $40.00 with a little effort on eBay. The shaft that connects the motor to the exhaust fan was rusted and I couldn't remove it so I had to saw it off and replace that too. While I was at it I replaced the door gasket. One perfectly functional dryer resulted. A few feet of landfill avoided. I'd call it a good deal. Owned by Remi #?

Umm... because I started the thread and I wanted to follow up. Four years isn't a lot of time for us old folks. Your mileage may vary if that's a significant percentage of your life span Owned by Remi #?

Sometimes all it takes is eyes :-) It's not rocket science to figure out how someone jumping a Nav 220 manages to land first when there are a number of pocket rockets on the same load. Owned by Remi #?

Most people feel some fear / anxiety about jumping. If you think that your fear will prevent you from handling problems then skydiving isn't a good idea. If you think you can push through your fear and deal with an emergency then you're on your way. If you handle asking questions that make you uncomfortable with a few "haha" kind of quirks that's normal. If you think that "haha" will help in an emergency think twice. Owned by Remi #?

No, not at all. I'm of the opinion that any organized religion is bullshit. Thinking that Scientology is bullshit only reinforces my convictions. Owned by Remi #?

Twas a TI at the door. FWIW, a female TI who's also an AFFI and a jump pilot. The tandems prepped and exited first. As she was getting ready to take her student out she "suggested" that we get out of the way and let the near panicking jumper follow her out. The plane was lightly loaded (2 tandems, 2 solos, and a 2-way) Owned by Remi #?

It's well known that you've had issues with this tank owner since you were snubbed by the swimgods over there. You're aware that the lawyers sharks read this forum. Why are you trying to cause trouble? Owned by Remi #?

The Polygamy case in TX-Defining what marriage means.
labrys replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
Right. And what the OP did was ask what general opinion was about what consenting adults did outside of this case. It wasn't ambiguous at all. Owned by Remi #? -
I didn't post that because I intended to argue the merits of the enlistment contract. I posted it because I think that it makes it clear that the intent of the contract is not the least little bit ambiguous. I've been "stop lossed" myself. It didn't surprise or enrage me. I recognised that I had agreed to the possibility when I raised my right hand and I sucked it up. I guess it pisses me off when people whine about it or claim it's back handed. But hey, my "war" only lasted 100 hours. I had it easy. Owned by Remi #?

Since the OP made this statement: It's not clear to me why you think any points have been missed. He addressed this point right off the bat. Owned by Remi #? -
Jeez not this again, please. There's nothing "back door" about a contract that says in plain english, and in plain (not fine) print that you're enlisting for 8 years and we'll let you serve in an inactive reserve component for some of that time if we don't need you. That's what an enlistment contract is. It's a contract for 8 full years of service. Stop loss is the enforcement of that 8 year contract and nothing more. It appears that the military needs to worry more about whether or not enlistees can read. http://www.js.pentagon.mil/whs/directives/infomgt/forms/eforms/dd0004.pdf My DZ's waiver is 12 pages long. The enlistment contract is 4 and the above is a significant percent of that. Don't let that "back door" smack you on the ass on the way to Iraq. Owned by Remi #?
