  1. In Scott Miller's canopy course he tells us that flat turns are done from half breaks... and that breaked turns and flat turns are essentially the same. Can you explain the difference as you see it? Jen Arianna Frances
  2. That was my choice up until the new job. New job, new money - I can finally get the nice car in the family Jen Arianna Frances
  3. oops - that was supposed to say audi a4 Jen Arianna Frances
  4. I've only been in family counseling as my mother is bi-polar and schizophrenic and we dealt with it as a family when I was growing up. I have seen more of these so called mental health professionals screw my mom up than ANY have helped. They go home to their white picket fenced homes at the end of the day and have almost no involvement in their 'patients' lives other than the 20 minutes they spend talking to them. As a result of their 'guidance' my mom has been in half way houses, sober houses and battered woman shelters (the abuse is all in her head, trust me) when all that was needed was her to put forth some effort to make things better at home, she's a house wife, she should clean the house. More than once my dad has had to threaten them to stop giving such bad advice. But she is so tired of being 'mentally handicapped' that she'll listen to anyone who's a so-called mental health professional. Its wrong. Mom got out of detox last week and has decided that she needs to live on her own (so she can drink and eat and no one will complain about it) because some fresh-out-of-college social workers and therapists at the detox center said she should. After all - my mom was complaining that my dad was always on her case to get off her duff and clean the house and stop drinking - so of course moving out when you can't support yourself is the best answer They've managed to screw up what took my family 10 years to fix - my opinion of them is in the gutter right now. 5. Ya, a guy I used to work with years ago was a sworn VW driver - he mentioned that all the routine maintenance is covered for the first 36000 miles or something - is that true? Jen Arianna Frances
  6. add korean cars to that list too I'm leaning toward the Jetta but the acura a4 is on the list too - slowly creeping toward the bottom though, considering we live in the city and park on the street... Thanks for the info! Jen Arianna Frances
  7. Thanks for that info. I'm a sucker for manual transmission - less stuff to break As far as the mazda guys - no can do. My uncles set on fire in his driveway... and he got totally screwed by Mazda when he tried to get them to repair it (it had 13,000 miles on it). My best friend Karen has one, and loves it though. 8. Looking for opinions of people that own VWs. I'm looking to ditch the piece of crap KIA at the end of the summer and am looking pretty seriously at the VW Jetta. Your overall opinion of your VW? Have you had any problems with your VW? Your overall impression of VW as a company? Your overall opinion of cost of upkeep on your VW? Would you buy another VW? Thanks! Jen Arianna Frances
  9. ohhh You should have told me you were going to Newport!! I would have met ya for lunch or something. I love Newport!! Enjoy your vacation - make your way up to Providence for waterfire and dinner! Jen Arianna Frances

  12. oh, thats rich When's your casting call? Seriously, get real. I'm sure if you called the next day they would have explained to you what happened. Jen Arianna Frances
  13. Karen - Thanks for the info! I'll be sure to bug...er..ask you about it at CK Clay - thanks for the feedback. I've heard similar things from other people who have been there, but they say if you go with a group and stay in the more 'touristy' areas its not as bad. The money must be really good over there if you hate the culture that much I doubt I could put up with something I hate for long! Jen Arianna Frances
  14. Really? Why didn't you like Cairo? I've been dying to go to Egypt for almost 10 years now - but with...well, current world politics I've decided to put it off, but I hope to go as soon as its safer
  15. I know this isn't going where you wanted it to Slappie... but I can't resist I used to work for the largest employer in RI -Lifespan. They're a not-for-profit network of hospitals. I worked in the facilities department at Rhode Island Hospital, facilities development to be exact. The department was in charge of carrying out the facility master plan (a 15 year plan). I worked on the MP for RIH, but we had them for all the hospitals in the network (5 in total). This plan included a new cancer center (just completed), a new ED (emergency department) and several parking 'structures'. The master plan, which I helped write, was for 2.1 billion dollars, which the hospital funded with bonds. The hospital itself has been profitable for 5 years - never 'in the red'. They were swimming in money. We got new CAD equipment every year to help us create new buildings and patient spaces. You need to look at the bigger picture. The money that they make seldomly goes to a greedy outcome. Most of the time they are put back into the hospital or go toward balancing out the free care most hospitals are REQUIRED BY LAW to give to citizens that walk in off the street. It's not always the hospital that is to blame - but a mix of the insurance companies/drug companies and area politics. You wouldn't believe the governement agencies I had to meet with when trying to build the ED. The area it resides in is S. Providence, a run down disgusting area of the city - and the welfare-ridden citizens of that area were worried that the new ED would create an 'eye-sore' - even more so than the 5 rows of crack houses on the south side of the employee parking lot Ah, capitalism at its best It's not as black and white as you think it is, unfortunately Jen Arianna Frances

  17. There are 2 girls listed from Canada and one from the UK. It is not feesible, at this time to ship to Australia, although there are interested parties. Not enough time - next year we'll be sure to include them. Jen Arianna Frances
  18. Ugh... doesn't sound much better than Great Woods in MA - um.. the Tweeter Center now How ya liking SC? Hot enough for ya? Jen Arianna Frances
  19. I think the funniest thing about it is when they tell you: "No need to worry, the company will pay for the entire replacement" Woohp-de-fucking-doo - the hospital and my insurance company see all of that, how about that 'pain and suffering' stuff. You're pretty much immobile for almost 6 weeks after that surgery - who's gonna pay for that? Sorry, this just makes me mad Jen Arianna Frances
  20. This pisses me off - St. Jude recalled models back in 2002. Medtronic recalled theirs in March and now Guidant is recalling them... Who's gonna get it right? Those are the only 3 manufacturers! And the fact that with this one, Guidant knew about the problem but still had the defective units put into people makes me sick. When these recalls happen they have to replace the whole unit - not a 'small' thing by any means Jen Arianna Frances
