  1. Thank you for the info, but being braindead I haven't yet figured out how to do the quote thing. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  2. Evelyn, do I know you? Did we share a jump on Memorial Day weekend? If so, "Hey there, Evelyn!" I hope that all is well with your skydiving progressioYes Yes we did share a jump. The one where they broke off early due to a long spot snd left us doing a 2-way wondering where they went. Then we had a conversation after the jump. You are soo sweet Rosa and so nice of you to ask about me. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  3. Thanks. I will try that. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  4. I still don't get it . sorry. Please give step by step instructions that even a moron can understand. Sorry. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  5. I would vote Perris because that is my home dropzone and everyone is so nice there. The guy at manifest always remembers my name and no matter what day of the week I'm, jumping there is always a load organizer to jump with me. I love Perris, but then I have never jumped anywhere else. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  6. Okay, I'm not exactly a newcomer, but I figured this was the best place to post this. I can't figure out how to choose a portion of someone elses post to reply to it. Can you please tell me how to do this. Thanks. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  7. I love to rollerblade! We go camping with our RV at a place that has a great bike/rollerblade path. We can rollerblade down to Manhatttan Beach or the other way to Venice. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  8. Probably. That is good exercise, right? I used to live in Petaluma next to a farm but the only thing we did with hay was sneak joints in the barn on top of the hay - amazinging we never caught it on fire! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  9. How often? For how long? What do you do? Why? Okay, I'll start. I work out 5 days a week (M-F) sometimes on weekends, but I leave that open. I work out 2-3 hrs. a day during the week. I run a few miles, do 10 miles on the stationary bike, do weight machines for 1/2 hr. and do whatever class is offered - step, yoga, kickboxing, abs, etc. I keep weights under my desk at work and use them whenever I get the urge. My co-workers are not surprised to see me doing lunges down the hall. I just really like working out and keeping in shape. And even though I try to watch what I eat I have limited willpower so easier to work out . I'm interested in what other people are doing. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  10. Good for you Darcy! Enjoy your extra time at the DZ. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  11. I need to get to bed. I need my 8 hours of sleep, but instead of going to bed I'm on dz.com. This is too addicting! For a long time I read the threads but didn't post, but eventually started posting and posting is much more fun than just reading the threads, but I've gotten too addicted and am losing sleep. 12. I have two kids, a son & a daughter, both great kids and I'm close to both of them, but my son and I have a special bond and my husband and my daughter have the same bond. My kids are grown, (well kind of...college students) but it's been this way since they were little. I've thought that it's because my son is like me , more serious not real outgoing, and my daughter is like her dad, very sociable and outgoing. Just wondering if anyone else has this mother/son, daughter/father connection. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  13. Okay, I know why people buy used gear - $$$. I'm just wondering why people spend big bucks to buy new. I'm buying new soon and my reasons are as follows: 1) With Square One's demo program was able to demo lots of different gear for free after putting down a deposit and agreeing to buy new g ear - saved a ton of money on rental fees. 2) I wanted a container made for me for maximum comfort, 3) I wanted to design my own container/canopy . Get exactly what I wanted. 4) I looked for used gear, but being a smallish female couldn't find exactly what I wanted used. So just curious why others are buying new. 14. I tried several times to try to learn to drive a stick but just couldn't get the hang of it. People give me a hard time because I bought my corvette with an automatic transmission. Works for me though. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  15. Thanks for your comments. This is why I posted this, to get other input. But being a newbie, I don't quite understand your answer. So how will my landings differ on the 148 from the 168? Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  16. I'm 122 lbs. and wear 13 lbs. of lead. I've been jumping for just over a year. Following is my canopy downsizing progression: PD 260 - 5 jumps PD 230 - 22 jumps PD 200 - 19 jumps Pilot 188 - 3 jumps Spectre 190 - 14 jumps Spectre 170 - 37 jumps Pilot 168 - 39 jumps Sabre 2 170 - 11 jumps I've been demoing gear from Square One and am getting ready to buy, but before I buy I want to demo the Pilot 148. The Pilot is my favorite canopy so far. I like the openings, the landings and the way it flies. I'm happy with the 168 but feel I should try the 148 to see if I like it better than the 168 before I commit to buying the 168. I've taken a canopy control course and have read the downsizing checklist posted on dz.com. I feel comfortble downsizing to the 148, but want to know what to expect with the smaller canopy. I've been told that it will be faster but that my landings should still be good since I'd have more brake power with my flare due to the increased speed. Would like opinions from anyone and input from people who have downsized from a Pilot 168 to a Pilot 148. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller

    HIPPIES

yes...once a hippie always a hippie...I guess. No,,Once a hippie,,now a skydiver. Skydiving is much more fun. As a hippie I only dreamed of reaching the sky, as a sjyduiver I found the sky. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  18. At Perris jump tickets cost $1000 fo 60 if you pay by cash, credit catd it's like $1060 for 60. Better to buy cash. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  19. I think it is soooo awsome that he is jumping. I definately wanna be jumping at 80. He has inspired me. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  20. Funny Story - When my first child was born they told us the blood type and I was like, cool - he has the same blood type as us. Didn't realize at the time that since hubby and I were O+ that the kids would have to be. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  21. The thing I am most afraid of is getting too old to do the things I love to do (skydiving, snowboarding) or turning into my parents and living from doctor visit to doctor visit. JUST SHOOT ME!! Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  22. When I was younger and had hair down to my waist people would tell me I looked like Cher - now I think I look like my dog (my dog is pretty cute though). Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
  23. AGHHHH!! I LOVE Stephen King and read the beginning books of the series but got so frustrated because you'd be left hanging waiting for the next book which may not come for years, so finally gave up and decided I'd wait until he finished the series. It's been so long I think I will have to reread the beginning for the umpteenth time (I've had to reread every time a new book came out since so long in between), But still, Stephen KQuoteing rocks - love his books! 24. How far from your parents do you live and how often do you visit? My parents live in San Diego and I live in L.A. - about 2 1/2 hours away. For many years my life was so busy that even though I'm only 2 1/2 hours away I'd go months between visits. Now that my life has slowed down and my parents have gotten older I'm making it a point to visit once a month (I can make the DZ be on the way - so jump on the way down , visit parents, jump on the way back.)
