  1. This is one of the reasons I transitioned from a throw-out BOC to a pull-out with a pudhandle. The pin is out once the pilot chute is out in the airstream and all it has to do is pull it off your back. I know changing your deployment system is kinda drastic, but I am really glad I did. It is a much more positive deployment method for sub terminal stuff. -Hixxx "Sous ma tub, Dr. Suess ma tub"

His was a funky opening on a Jedei he just bought. Good for one reason, it needed repairs, some stitching work and a patch re-sewn. Now he'll have the time for the work... The rig was a brand new Wings with a PD-160R. Canary yellow never looked prettier to either one of us I think. -Hixxx "Sous ma tub, Dr. Suess ma tub"
  3. As long as the sliders of the two canopies were proportional to their size, I would think that the two would be similar in opening speeds. I seems that the snatch to deployment segment would be the same unless the lines were considerably different lengths or the stows were tighter on one from the other, one container was tighter than the other etc... -Hixxx "Sous ma tub, Dr. Suess ma tub"

Just had to say, I got my first save this weekend. It was pretty sweet... -Hixxx "Sous ma tub, Dr. Suess ma tub"
  5. I still suck, but god I have fun... We all learn at different rates with different styles. Find an instructor who matches your style. Apparently your last instructor just wasn't that versatile, which reflects on his proficiency, not yours. Hang in there! be safe, have fun, Hixxx "Sous ma tub, Dr. Suess ma tub"
  6. Hey man. If you don't like my sitfly, get outta the washer cause her comes the spin cycle... -Hixxx "Extreme Maytag freefly team" "Sous ma tub, Dr. Suess ma tub"
  7. Actually, I cool it in strong winds because tugging on your front risers can increase that dive a little too much with a strong wind... Then you're an auger... -Hixxx "Sous ma tub, Dr. Suess ma tub"
  8. Okay, so I hadn't done a sit for three months and was a little distracted by the camera thing. I nailed the next jump (and I do have video evidence, fucker), then Joe corked as he was trying to transition. So, I amend my earlier statement to sitflying. As for swooping, I'll see you on the battlefield Dave. You're just pissed that I smoked you with a non-crossbraced canopy under a lighter loading in our first annual swoop competion last fall...Step up, bitch... xxx,Hixxx "Sus ma tub, Dr. Suess ma tub"
  9. At 150 jumps, I thought I would never do CRW, Swoop, or freefly. I do them all now... I agree. Swooping is definitely conducive to a strong inner grin. Like the sport itself skydive for enjoyment, pick another sport if you do it for exposure. Swooping at a boogie in traffic to me is more of a judgment error, than a peril of the discipline. I favor more of a slow carving front riser setup that is quickly recoverable (and still generates a lot of speed), when there is traffic. Keep your options open. -Hixxx "Sus ma tub, Dr. Suess ma tub"
  10. I learned to swoop on a Cobalt 120 (1.8) after a Triathlon 160. Dan endured a shitload of newbie questions quite gracefully and had a gorgeous custom colored canopy built for me. I originally was interested in a Samurai and a Crossfire, but both of these mfgs. blew me off after I put a demo request in. Dan delivered a demo inside a week. I have since purchased a crossbraced wing, but my Cobalt remains my mainstay because of its variable performance range, reliable openings and quick turns. -Hixxx "Sus ma tub, Dr. Suess ma tub"
  11. I agree. There are many things to consider. How many points you score for which one you hit, the possible bonus points availabe (knocking them out of their shoes or getting mom's bikini top without hitting her)... But really, I would probably pop over them flare it out out high and PLF. I like my options plopping down after a high flare with the forward momentum gone as opposed to eating it in a high speed carve... -Hixxx "Sus ma tub, Dr. Suess ma tub"
  12. Well, having a child of my own I pretty sensitive on this issue. I would definately carve towards the softest spot on the mom... xxx, Hixxx "Sus ma tub, Dr. Suess ma tub"
  13. I am actually more concerned about protecting the risers and lines. I think the slinks will easily outlast them both. -Hixxx "Sus ma tub, Dr. Suess ma tub"
  14. I have been using slinks on my main going on the second season now and I am starting to think about the amount of wear I put on them. I use a lot of front riser on my approaches and I know it has to put some wear on the contact points with the risers and the lines. Does it make any sense to use Cypres silicone at these contact points to reduce wear? What does everybody think? thanxxx, Hixxx "Sus ma tub, Dr. Suess ma tub" [crazy/red]

  18. Esteemed colleagues, I mounted the my dbox on to my Optik last night. The shell was really tight putting some pressure on the Cameye II plug in the Lanc port. Now the Cameye II will not work. Well, the Cameye II isn't showing any visible damage, because I wasn't really torquing on it or anything. So, I am wondering if the there is something wrong with the Lanc port. My questions for the group are: Do you think it is the port? Is it easily fixed? whatsup? thanx, Hixxx
  19. Does anyone know a good utility for ripping audio off of cds and converting it to wave files for mixing in with video in Adobe Premier? thanxxx, Hixxx
  20. Yes, I did. But the PC110 seems like it will have more than enough functionality for me. Also, the salesman I talked to said the 120 is going to be 2000 bucks and I'd rather jump that money. peace, Hixxx
  21. I got one at d.buys today for 1187.00. Thanks for the info... Hixxx
  22. I just did a search on yahoo for pc110 sources. There are a lot of good buys, but I am unfamiliar with the sources. So, can anyone make any recommendations for a reputable outlet? thanxxx, Hixxx
  23. Does anyone know of the 3 camera fatalities last year if the cameras were top or side mounted? Is one or the other more prone to entaglements? thanxxx, Hixxx
  24. Hey Folks, I am looking into purchasing a camera for the first time. The model I checked out is a Canon Elura 2mc. Does anyone have any experience with the Elura series? The salesman I spoke with insisted that Canon and Sony are the only brands to trust for dependability and quality. Hands down, what is the best model for the sport without breaking the bank? I am not interested in any on board effects, cause I have fast PC at home that I am getting Adobe Premier for to edit. I do want to side mount it on a Mindwarp, so is there a specific Elura or PC model that is superior and what should I pay for it? thanxxx, Hixxx
  25. I just completed a course and I received my rating. Though I didn't have time to prepare for the written until the course, I did about 8 supervised pack jobs and watched another half dozen before that from several different riggers. What I walked away with is a license to learn and a network of a dozen riggers including a master rigger to support that process. I also have full book of all the current ADs on gear. As a senior rigger, you will have the right to inspect, repack and do minor repairs that do not affect the airworthiness of a rig. Skydivers will typically pay you thinking it is for the repack when about 80% of your work will be the inspection. I highly recommend a course for the intensity of the study, but just as important is continuous learning from that point onward. Also, if you get an opportunity. Pack some rounds before the course too!!! The more you walk into the course with, the more you can build upon. Obtaining a rating is a beginning point in the learning process, not an ending. Good Luck, MrHixxx
