Actually, there is ...or perhaps better to say..may be....a loophole if the DZ is a club. Last I looked into this...some FAA people say no way..others say technically yes..if its a club.. its a blurry line.

Anybody else just have an incredible day?
skipro101 replied to lifewithoutanet's topic in The Bonfire
ohhh me me .. I had an awesome day as well. and was thinking on the way home "wow, this was an awesome day" Made 4 jumps. First 3 way. Got two more 3 ways after that too. First one went awesome. Second okay and the third pretty...well we will just say it was amusing...but still fun as hell. hrmm... 500$ left on my jump account. Time to cash in some more of my stocks ehehehe. -
First mal Jump # 14. Two out. Reserve flopped out of container right after my main opened and inflated behind my main. Chopped at 3k. Second mal Jumper # 15. Two out. Reserve failed to exit deployment bag (good thing in this case), it came out right after the opening of my main. and I landed it with the bag hanging between my legs. I list aerohio in my profile as home dz, but these mals were NOT at aerohio. Jumps 19-29 were at aerohio and the equipment/airplane/instructors are all top notch..awesome dz!

Just got back from Columbus. It was worth the 2hr drive (each way). On side note, I ate at "North Market" in columbus. Its a freaking kickass market place. Big warehouse looking building with a ton of different shops inside that make killer food. There is all different cultures repersetented and lots of fish and whatever you want really. I had lamb and octopus somethingerother....and this really weird breadball with some exotic meat inside. cost me 10$ but it was damn good. -

Wow! Im so glad you are on here! I was seriously thinking about writing a letter to BELL and other helmet manufacters to introduce them to the need of a good skydiving helmet. Im a new jumper and im extremely irritated at skydiving helmets. Expensive, cheaply made, no serious impact protection, and visors that dont work/etc etc. WHY arent there any helmets from BELL and other big name manufc. ??? Perhaps you could get the ball rolling at Bell?

CKD C-K-D.com This diet was developed in the 80s for bodybuilders and has been evolving ever since. Atkins is basicly a derivitive of this diet except atkins isnt for bodybuilders and doesnt require you to work out. Be warned..ckd is not for the new dieter. If you dont workout the right way on days 12 and 3, your glycogen stores will not be depleted enough for the 6-9thousand caloric day starting thursday night, which will cause you to get fatter. so be carefull. good luck. oh, by the way, I was 5"9 265lbs in 10th grade. Im now 20yrs old, 6'2 210 of mostly muscle. Its a long road, but its worth it.

Where's the USPA when you really need them?
skipro101 replied to steve1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I wasn't joking at all. Where do you think this sport will go without attracting the kind of people with disposable income? The customers on the slopes don't seem to have a problem with the waiver printed on the back of the lift ticket; you hit a tree and get hurt...you, your insurance, or the taxpayers must pay...not the ski slope operator! The slopes attract people with money because the comforts are there, which collectively make up the ski experience; it's not just the snow on a hill. I am a Level III PSIA instructor and taught at several major ski areas out west (utah and new mexico). I think you are in the dark as far as sueing/injuries go at ski resorts. Just in the year 2002/2004 season, there were several settelments (read millions of dollars) payed to people who were hurt at a certain resort that i worked for.. Also, there are quite a few deaths every year at ski resorts....they are very good and keeping it quit. the waiver doesnt mean shit. -
im a vol. emt/fireman ive asked...no one wants to go...they are all scared. Personally ill take 14,000ft over getting near people who might have a communicable disease.

How much do you load your reserve?
skipro101 replied to deurich2003's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I have heard this before and dont see the logic. Thats like saying "a pilot should land in a 30 knot x-wind component for practice. I mean, what if you fly into a storm and need to land? I would MUCH rather fly the landing knowing ahead of time that i was goingto fly it, before it actually happens"/end sarcasm lol..the problem is that it doesnt matter much whether you know on the ground before the jump that your going to make the landing or whether you find out at 2000ft. You still have to perform it. Its either going to be your first time on an actual emergency, or your first time on an intentional one... -
Pilots.....Runway lenghths????
skipro101 replied to freeflir29's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I too am looking into this as a possibility 5 years out. I think I can help you with the runway lengths... For a 182, groundroll is approx 600ft and takeoff distance over 50ft obstacle is approx, 1500ft...standard conditions. an otter at maximum weight has about 760ft ground run and 1200ft distance over a 50ft obstacle. I would think a 2000ft grass strip with room to expand (ie,..buy 4000ft but only develop 2000ft for runway) would be damn good. This would allow for student pilots to train there (more $) and also give some leeway for error for the heavily loaded planes on a 100F day. It wouldnt have to be this big...but you might as well plan big so you can expand later (you woudlnt need to get lights/maintain runway/etc for a 4000footer, but if you do it for 2k feet and know you have 4000ft if you want to expand...well that rocks. Also, youll want a big landing area. Say at least...1500X1000ft
