  1. Yeah, I know - just found it kinda funny. Nothing bad intended, just ignore me ;)
  2. So, we should ignore everything after the "First and foremost - Listen to your instructors and ONLY your instructors." sentence? Or, maybe we should even ignore that one!! :P Sorry, had to :P
  3. As everyone is saying, relax. Specifically, with many things in freefall, you need to find the balance of muscle tension in the body. Not too relaxed (too floppy), not too tense. But typically the problem for newer jumpers is too much muscle tension.... so... relax.. ;)
  4. I went from a Stiletto 120 @ 1.9:1 to a velo 103 @ 2.2:1. The Velo feels way better at that loading, then the Stiletto at 1.9. Much more flare power. Great lift. Straight in approaches on both, Velo owns the Stiletto.
  5. twist your torso. keep your shoulders level
  6. When I lived in California and jumped more frequently (10+ jumps a day (once or twice a week)) I found that I would have various issues like that.... could be from changes in pressure from the altitude.
  7. My mirage (G3 MT) with velo 103, PD-126R weighs 18 pounds, if I recall. So, that's 229 sq. ft. total in my rig ( look, I can do math! ;) ) Of course the velo weighs a bit more than a similar sized, non-crossed braced canopy. But, yeah, I suspect student gear is in the 25 to 30 pound range.
  8. Yeah, I think we've spent more time doing BASE and skydiving than the actual missions. Jetpack and rig cheats help. Oh, and flying car cheats rock too. cheats: http://www.gtasanandreas.net/cheats/
  9. Well, PD doesn't normally manufacture the smaller slider as a regular retail product, but they will build it for you. Just ordered mine :)
  10. Cool, thanks for the info. Definately going to order one...
  11. Votes for Thread Subject Text of the week. Made me laugh, thanks. And yeah, been there before - years ago. It'll happen...
  12. Yo Jay, sup. Didn't know you got a velo. Nice :) I think I'm gonna order the smaller velo slider - and at least give it a try. Velo that was in the tree seems fine. No holes that I've seen, and the lines look good. Way better than the other one that was gone for a year ;) I'll have Brett take a thorough look at it soon.
  13. I got one of those smaller sliders but I haven't had a chance to do more than a few hop-n-pops with it. The original slider measures 29.5" wide and 22.5" tall. The new one measures 28.5" wide and 20" tall. I know it's probably to soon to tell, but notice any difference? Wondering if you're getting slightly faster openings, and if the velo's dancing less...
  14. Didn't PD approve a smaller slider for the Velo, or am I mistaken? If so, anyone have one, or can compare with the standard slider? I'm considering looking into getting one...
  15. heheheh. So, if I call you, then you'll give your opinion on the headsets, etc.? tty soon...
  16. Come on Max!!! Drop your opinion here. Why pm? Afraid you'll offend someone? btw, happy new year
  17. Great idea Missy! Bookmarked - will fill it out tomorrow. Oooh, and it looks like congrats are in order??? 5000 jumps? :) Beatiful :)
  18. weeeeeeeeee :) Thanks to Shay at Sky's The Limit in NJ for spotting my canopy from the plane, and Shawn for climbing a tall tree to retreive it, my velo 103 (the 2nd one that got lost) is back in my posession and drying out... happy.
  19. Don't know if these 2 suggestions have come up: 1. Some forums allow, while in a threadlist view, allow one to put the mouse over a thread subject and the first few sentences of the thread topic will popup in a typical windowtip style box (you know the yellow kind?) example: http://www.overdrivepc.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=12 2. Also, I like how the folder to the left of a forum shows orange if there's unread posts, or empty if all the threads are read. What about a different color for forums that have NEW threads (versus just unread posts)? :)
  20. Beats me. At first I thought it was sun damage, but, nope, something chewed holes in the darn thing. btw, I call that canopy "patches" now...
  21. I know that feeling. I lost one of my velo's for a year. It was found, and I sent it back to PD to get repaired. Bugs ate holes in it, and needed a new line kit. Glad to have that one back, cuz I lost my other one this summer. Planning to go out and look again once the leaves are off the trees...
  22. It's possible, especially if launched. However, sidetracking tends to be faster vertically, and slower horizontally. At least, that's my personal observation/speculation. I've switched to side while my teammate was backtracking, and did start falling faster... EDIT: I suppose an alternative would be to have 3 people on their back, 2 come in and dock on the middle, then turn sideways. THis would start pushing the middle person (still on their back) faster. Then last person, if they perhaps come in on their side, get a single dock, then close it up. Sounds possible, and cool :)
  23. No advice, but will say props for making a decision like this.
  24. No daffy involved at all. Basically, I keep my legs together, then open them up into a V (straddle) to go more headdown. But for the most part, I keep my legs closed...
