Facebook friend sent pics of her vacation in Key West. Large crowds...very few masks. All those folks will be hopping on an airplane.

for which crimes, if any, should Trump be prosecuted?
airdvr replied to SivaGanesha's topic in Speakers Corner
You guys on the left thinking trump will be charged are as funny as the right thinking he has a chance to overturn the election.- 156 replies

Hardly a playground in here...but I see what you did. Quiet...yes. Hoping Trump transitions power nicely...yes. -

Yea...but can they get in? -
I'm sorry you don't like my explanation. And Bill...the list of things you say Trump does, you can just about put any politician in Washington into the same description. The only difference is they hide it better than he did.

I've never expected Trump to be my moral guidepost. I don't need him for that nor do I pretend that every other asshat in DC is some sort of Mother Theresa. Sorry you think my explanation is lazy.

Trump vs. just another Washington insider. Not that difficult actually.

What's to gain? How about reunification with the children inside the border. Or perhaps having the children become US citizens. But I'm certain it must be something far more sinister with the Trump administration.

Not so fast there .... From the DHS... In the current litigation, for example, out of the parents of 485 children whom Plaintiffs’ counsel has been able to contact, they've yet to identify a single family that wants their child reunited with them in their country of origin.” Asked about the report, White House spokesperson Brian Morgenstern said, that many of the parents “have declined to accept their children back...It's not for lack of effort on the administration’s part."

And yet there has been no looting and very little violence by the side that lost. I like you Wendy but don't paint with such a broad brush. You always get some on you.
-
Again, somehow we need to be able to have a victor on election night. I didn't realize Trump did that. I'd have to look hard at the court that allowed that argument to stand.
-
No it doesn't. They can put up a crawl that refutes what is being claimed. To decide not to broadcast it is not their job.

Given the choices I wouldn't change. It's not about whether I believe there was fraud. The system needs to be designed in such a way as to insure the mere hint of impropriety is avoided. It's very simple. Back in the day if you wanted an absentee ballot you had to have a good reason. I understand with Covid the need for mail-in ballots was huge. Even so, a really simple change could be made to say if you want the convenience of a mail-in ballot it needs to be postmarked X number of days prior to the election. Let's say 7 days. This way all of the mail-in ballots are received, can be inspected, and the numbers verified and tabulated prior to the day of election. Folks deployed overseas could also handle the date requirement.

Do you need elementary school kids to explain things for you?

I'm not shouting anything. I know who he is and I know who he isn't and i still chose to vote for him. That's my business and no one else's. As I said earlier censorship doesn't know party lines. As an aside I fully accept that Biden won.
-
I think the Deed restrictions prohibit that. Would it bother me? Sure it would but I would instantly know what an asshat my neighbor is and it's still a first amendment issue. You guys want to start sanitizing history you'd better make sure you don't get caught up in the shitstorm.

Censorship isn't defined by political party. It's kind of the same as tearing down statues that you find offensive. We need those things to remind us of how wrong it was. If someone is spouting lies let the world see it. Then you can refute the lies. If we truly wanted to get rid of untruths we'd have to remove all promises in campaign speeches, commercials with the fine print so small you can't read it, and anything to do with televangelism. That's just a few examples. I think it's a slippery slope.
-
I guess I'm surprised that none of you seem very concerned about news media outlet's censorship. I don't trust any media source to decide what is true and what is a lie.

Not so fast there perfesser.
-
What would the reasoning be that you would want to keep Republican observers from watching the ballot count?
-
We might be in a repeat of 2000 Bush/Gore.

One thing seems clear; the pundits once again missed the mark in their predictions.

You must have missed Phil's first post. Anyways, probably won't know before I sack out.

I put this out as something I thought both sides could agree on. Foolish me.
