So the government is not backing these loans like the article stated? Do you have any proof of that? FHA loans are government backed. They require a minimum 3.5% down payment. Nothing's changed. No one will ever buy a house with $1 down. We require a $500 deposit to build someone a new home. This builder is simply waiving the required deposit amount to contract to purchase the home. The builder is not financing the home. I stand corrected. This is a very, very rare type of loan. This is not the same thing as what happened in 2005. To qualify for this extremely rare type of setup you have to be solid-gold creditworthy. It's still just a case of marketing trying to get people off the fence. 99% won't qualify but hey, you got them in your office considering the possibilities. That's the other issue. I don't think anyone has told her what the timeline is. She's basically in limbo watching her son's chest rise and fall hoping against hope that a miracle would occur. He's already been declared dead. I'm willing to bet the disclosure of technique has something to do with being sued. If that's not the case this person needs to find a new line of work. I've never dealt with this issue before. Friend's 30 yo son severely injured in an accident. On life support brain dead. He is an organ donor. The hospital has so mis-handled this situation I'm wondering how often that happens. I'm not privy to all of the details but 2nd hand I heard a story where the representative from LifeBank was explaining in graphic detail to the boys mother how the organs will be harvested. Specifically 'we'll roll him over and take the skin from his back.' etc... Somehow I don't think that leel of detail is necessary or helpful. Anyone else ever dealt with this? This has nothing to do with the financing. The developer is simply letting someone contract on the home for $1 down. The developer is probably facing some sort of hard timeline on these homes and has to do something. The financing end will still have to meet the down payment requirements. I like this idea best. You guys thinking it's a choice between new tires of a brain-dead son are assuming that he' going to wind up a brain-dead kid if he doesn't get tires. Yeah, yeah...the old worst-case "what if". Cut the tires and cut the apron strings. Buying him new tires only perpetuates the irresponsibility. - Why should I be responsible for myself, Daddy will bail me out. Agreed. I like the idea of slicing the tires. Kind of like pulling his reserve while he's still on the ground. For those of you who think I should just go buy him tires. I've already done stuff like that for too long. He has a job. My 20 yo son is attempting to make a go of it on his own. I have vowed not to subsidze him in any way. Here's the problem. He came to our house a couple of weeks ago. I noticed the front tires on his POS car are so bald they are showing cords. I talked to him about it. For $40 he can go to one of those used tire places and get a couple of decent used bacons. As of today he hasn't done it. A friend of ours has a son that is 30. Severe car wreck Thursday...brain dead on a vent with pressers to keep a blood pressure. In short he's done. I was imagining what it would be like to be forced to make that decision for your child. How would I feel if it was due in part to him not spending 40 fucking dollars on used front tires when I could have bought him brand new ones. Should I take him to the tire place or keep my mouth shut? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

I don't think it's conincidence at all. Was Babbitt the admin when the hearing on jump plane safety were done? I figure if he spent some time dropping jumpers then he spent some time around the bonfires in the evening and is fairly well aquainted with the more 'colorful' participants. Cite please. Not disagreeing with you just interested in knowing where that number came from. While I can't be sure how much blame to place either, I can take as good a guess as you can and say...perhaps his parents, people in his neighborhood who gave aid and comfort, Saddam Hussein who indoctrinated him as a child. And, of course the US for laying waste to his neighborhood. If he wants to blame it all on the US that's his cross to bear. Doesn't necessarily mean you're wrong either. I'm very interested to now how to determine a civilian from a combatant. We sure could have used that technique in Southeast Asia. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
