Gravity Rats Freefly Revolution IV Dec 1-3
Douva replied to IMGR2's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Since my request to compete while wearing a board was vetoed, I'll just be there to look good and hand out L.A.S.T. numbers. Or, if anyone wants to make his or her first skysurf (assuming it's okay with management), I'll probably have my training boards with me. I'm not terribly excited about the cold weather, but I guess I can grow a little sack and tough it out for the sake of spending the weekend with some old friends. I'll just pretend we're back at the '03 Holiday Boogie in Eloy. I don't think I have any polyester clothes for the polyester party. Most of my clothes are either cotton, wool, or spandex, so y'all may have to settle for me wearing my cool retro suede jacket that my dad handed down to me. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names. -
What is something you got suspended for in high school ?

With all due respect to teachers (my mom and sister are both teachers), it's my contention that the longer someone works in the school systems, the further he or she drifts from the real world. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names. -
Thanks a lot! That did the trick. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.

I need some help with a web page I maintain (web design is not my primary function). On this page, when you click on the drop down menu labeled "PORTFOLIO," the bottom row of the menu appears under the flash slide show, instead of on top of it. Can I change something in my code to make the drop down menu appear on top of the flash slide show? If so, what do I need to change. Thanks. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. We don't have people firing blind, paranoid shots in cities or anywhere else people carry guns; I don't see why we'd have it in the woods. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.

Sure it will.... Oh and is the costume thing what we wore in the 70s or is it what was worn by people in the 70s? I was a newborn then, not sure where I can find footed pjs for someone my size How about my 70s b-day suit? It's not polyesther, but 100% leather. And if it's as cold as it's supposed to be I'll be about the same size that I was way back then. If you know what I mean. What I was wearing in the '70s...hmmm...Well, I don't think my mom is using her uterus anymore; maybe she could FedEx it to me. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. Umm, No. I caught it, I just didn't like it. I liked the fantasy of the old movies. I like the gadgets. I liked the unrealistic side. If I wanted to watch "The Bourne (Next title)" then I would have gone expecting to see Matt Damon. Go watch From Russia with Love. I think that's the perfect mix. There are gadgets, but they're relatively simple and realistic. They fit perfectly into an excellent story with strong, well written characters. I think that's what the new Bond franchise should shoot for. All movies are fantasy, but invisible cars racing space lasers to ice castles is a bit much for most Bond fans. They're going to have both the Caravan and the 206, aren't they? I can't imagine that not being enough. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names. -

FYI, the weather forecast calls for a cold front to come through on Thursday and for it to be clear and calm but cool over the weekend, so everybody be sure to bring your long underwear--This is going to be winter jumping. The closest ones I were able to find online were ~30miles away. Here are a couple of suggestions: 10 Miles South of the DZ Holiday Inn Express Elgin (512) 285-3900 252 Highway 290 E Elgin, TX Rooms are approximately $85/night. 11 Miles North of the DZ Americas Best Value Inn Taylor 512-352-2666 2007 N Main Street Taylor, TX 76574 Rooms are approximately $60/night. Most of my friends know that I have two rather unusual guidelines about the women I date: 1. I won't date women who like to vacation at Disney World. 2. I won't date women who like to shop the day after Thanksgiving. I have to draw the line somewhere. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.

Do you really want to see Bryan or Roberto in a wet t-shirt?? Cause you KNOW Bryan would do it. You know, if I ice my nipples beforehand, I think I can beat them. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names. -
Dear Mr. DeWitte: Nothing speaks to a person's character or lack thereof more than the criticism he or she chooses to inflict on others. Your cruel, unwarranted personal attack against a woman whose only crime is trying to find out more about the man she loved suggests that you, Mr. DeWitte, suffer from a serious lack of character. That you not only criticized her objective but also felt it necessary to question her motivation and make disparaging inferences about her lifestyle suggests you not only suffer from a serious lack of character but are also embarrassingly deficient in basic maturity. I think I speak for just about everyone hear in asking that you not only refrain from making further posts on dropzone.com but also find a new sport and/or hobby, so as not to further taint the image of skydiving with your presence. Sincerely, W. Scott "Douva" Lewis I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.

I think the general point that should be taken away from all this is that every place has its pros and cons, and stereotyping any place is an unfair oversimplification. I used to travel to California pretty frequently, and it always amazed me how many people in California hate Texas and how many people in Texas hate California and how little any of those people actually know about the state they so vehemently despise. It should probably be pointed out that Oklahoma wasn't a state during the American Civil War. It was an Indian territory that did provide some support to the Confederacy, in the form of troops, but wasn't a part of the Confederacy. If Oklahoma freaked you out, you should visit the DEEP south sometime. There are people there who take that shit seriously. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I think that's true if you're talking about a Vietnam era draft--Some people get drafted, and some people (usually those with money) don't. I think that mandatory service, like many other civilize countries utilize, might work. Of course, I would have felt more comfortable supporting such a program a few years ago when A. It would have affected me, thereby, making me look like less of a hypocrite for supporting it and B. I had more faith in the people who decide when we go to war. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. Hmm, and i was thinking of just flying outside stills to document the comp. I have been flying camera, i haven't been freeflying. Forget all that. Since you two are the only camera flyers with experience shooting skysurfers, you'll be needed for the skysurfing competition. As I see it, here is the most likely lineup of teams: Brains & Douva - L.A.S.T. "A" jumpjunkie & Douva - L.A.S.T. "B" It'll be a hard fough competition, but personally, I feel like I have a strong chance of winning. Of course, if you both have your hearts set on the freefly competition, I suppose one of you could just forfeit the skysurfing competition. But I still expect a medal. eh-hem what about freestlye? You could compete in skysurfing. It's just like freestyle but less girly. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names. -
Didn't you think James Bond looked awfully good for a seventy-two-year-old man in Die Another Day? It seems to me that there are probably very few agents for the British Secret Service who have been doing active field service since 1962. Therefore, unless you want this series to become the story of a retired old man puttering around the house, you have to accept that the timeline is fluid. For the most part, James Bond doesn't age, and the films are always set in present day, no matter where they fall chronologically in the James Bond timeline. It's the same logic that is applied to comic books. Do you have any idea how old Lois Lane would be by now? It's called "suspension of disbelief." I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. This film is definitely more in line with From Russia With Love (my favorite bond film) and On Her Majesty's Secret Service (George Lazenby was as good a Bond as any that followed Sean Connery) than the invisible car trying to beat the giant space laser to the ice castle James Bond films of late. Personally, I didn't like any of the Pierce Brosnan Bond films. Brosnan handled the role well, but the stories were just crap. GoldenEye was definitely better than the others from that series, but it still left me cold. The Timothy Dalton films weren't bad. Most of Roger Moore's later films were over-the-top (Who can forget metal toothed Jaws?), but they had some spectacular stunts. The pre-title sequence to The Spy Who Loved Me is still my ultimate male fantasy. I can't, of the top of my head, think of any films from Sean Connery's original run that I didn't like. I consider Diamonds are Forever, his first return to the role, something of a guilty pleasure. I'm not a big fan of Never Say Never, his second and last return to the role. Casino Royale didn't blow me away, but I enjoyed it. I did miss the strategically placed use of the Bond theme throughout the film, but I let that slide, since I had an idea of the effect they were going for, and of course the ending proved me right. In a sense, this is the story of Bond becoming Bond. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what Daniel Craig, the producers, and the writers do with the character and the series in subsequent films. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I posted three questions in the related thread in the women's forum. Only Nightingale responded (thanks), so I'll give the male perspective on the second question here. Disregarding the maturity deficient posters who can't resist making comments like "It's okay if she has a nice rack," I think many men are uncomfortable with women breast feeding in public because we feel it's an act we shouldn't be watching; therefore, we find ourselves struggling to look at anything else until mother and baby are through. We feel that if we're somehow caught looking at the woman, for even just a moment, we'll be viewed as perverts; therefore, the situation makes us uncomfortable. I think this, rather than a lack of understanding or consideration, is probably why a lot of men support higher levels of discretion than do women, when it comes to public breast feeding. Again, as I said in the women's forum, I don't really have a solid opinion on this subject; I'm just trying to explain one male point of view that may not have been discussed in the previous eight pages of posts (I got tired of all the pointless posts and quit reading somewhere on page three).
