Talking to women in the gym is next to impossible. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.

The doctor held me upside down, and I looked back at where I'd just come from and muttered, "Ewww....That's the last time you'll catch me inside one of those!" Okay, actually, my first word was "doggy." I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.

When I was sixteen I broke my wrist, hand, and middle finger in a motorcycle wreck. they were all clean breaks that didn't even have to be set. But there was already an orthopedic surgeon in the emergency room tending to another patient, so they went ahead and had him look at my arm. About a week later, I got a bill from him for $1300, on top of the emergency room bill. When my dad asked why it was so expensive, the orthopedic's office said that the charge included the follow-up visits I needed to make. After my first follow-up visit, I got a bill for $300 for x-rays, etc. After that, I just figured, "Screw it--I have a calendar; I know when six weeks is up." I didn't go back to the doctor for anymore follow-up visits. It was a soft cast/splint that extended up past my elbow, so I took it off a couple of times in the last couple of weeks to wash my arm, after it started getting particularly stinky. At six weeks, I took the thing off and never worried about it again. My arm had heeled fine. I don't recommend others take the same approach, but fortunately I came out okay. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.

I know what you mean--That one beer I drank really knocked me on my ass. But hey, somebody had to stay sober enough to make the 12:30 AM beer run. It was fun seeing so many old friends and a few new ones. Nice work, Rats. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names. -

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=1354976565 Thank you! But why do I think that is so funny? That skit has cracked me up ever since I was a little kid (and even then it was a re-run). I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.

Some people might find it interesting to view the photo Jo posted next to this age progressed version of the FBI sketch. I'm sure this is information Jo already has, but for those of you who were so interested in what the FBI might release through a Freedom of Information Act filing, some of that information is posted here. Jo, I'm sorry if somebody has already asked this and I missed it, but do you have an idea what part of the country Duane was living in during the late '60s/early '70s? That would probably help us narrow down the drop zones where he might have jumped and therefore the list of people to whom you should speak. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. Muscle pain from lactic acid isn't harmful. In fact, if I recall correctly, the lactic acid actually triggers the release of growth hormone which causes your muscles to grow), but it's avoidable if you do a couple of light workouts before working up to a full workout. If you haven't worked out in a while, first do a couple of workouts where you're not actually feeling much burn. They should be so light that they seem almost unproductive. Then you'll be able to start pushing your body a little harder without experiencing those almost debilitating levels of muscle pain. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. You're correct; that's why I suggested it was more important to warm up slowly before a workout. Stretching regularly has proven to be very beneficial to athletes; however, the old adage to always stretch before you workout has been shown, in recent years, to be less beneficial than once thought. A lot of trainers still suggest stretching before a workout--and we're talking about workouts, not athletic competitions--because that's the only time most people are likely to do it. But as far as avoiding injury goes, a good warm up is your best bet. If you're competing; skip the stretches--They will unduly fatigue your muscles. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. Try to take off at least 48 hours between work outs that work the same muscles (i.e., between two boxing classes). Also, take it easy at first. If you're that sore, you should have started out with something a little lighter. The advice about stretching regularly is very good advice, but before a workout, it's more important that you warm up slowly than that you stretch. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. Really? How many registered sexual predators did you live next to as a child? How many knocked up 13 year olds did you know? How many drugs were you offered at 10 yrs old? Times have changed, once you become a parent you will see that. No, times have not changed that much. What you've seen since you became a parent is the change in the way these incidents are recorded by law enforcement agencies and reported by the news media. Newspapers now have to compete with not only television but also the Internet. Network news has evolved from a lost leader (not required to make a profit) to a major source of revenue for the television networks. It's all about ratings, and as the saying goes, "If it bleeds, it leads." Sex, drugs, and violence sell, just like they always have. The difference is that in the past, our news outlets weren't trying to sell us anything. Despite the scare tactics used by child advocacy groups seeking funding, your children are statistically no more likely to be kidnapped by a stranger than they were fifty years ago. You still have a better chance of winning the lottery than of losing a child to an abduction by a stranger. Take a wild guess--How many children would you estimate are kidnapped by strangers in the U.S. each year? As for drugs and sex, those may be more prevalent, but that doesn't mean they haven't always been around. Just as parents in the past did, parents today must learn to train their children the best they can and, beyond that, trust their kids to heed those lessons. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.

I thought that was Richard Branson! The shot was so quick that I couldn't tell. The ford thing I saw as kind of a joke: Bond is on vacation and trying to "blend in" with the tourists and he gets to drive a crappy ford sedan just like everyone else. As I said before, this is the story of Bond becoming Bond. He starts off in a cheap rental car, then wins a much nicer car at a poker game. The cheap car, cheap clothes, etc., at the beginning of the film, versus the nice car, nice clothes, etc., at the end of the film, are supposed to be symbolic of the character arc. What is something you got suspended for in high school ?

In fifth grade the school bully and I got in an argument on the basketball court at recess. We kept arguing into the classroom, and he finally grabbed me by the throat and pinned me down against a desk. The teacher saw this and yelled at him, prompting him to let me go and turn and walk back toward his desk. Infuriated, I stood, tapped him on the shoulder, and when he looked back...WHAM...right hook. He reciprocated by swinging around and rope necking me, knocking me to the floor. By the time I got up, our little old teacher was between us. We both got three days of in school suspension. ISS was a blast. I wrote a short story and fielded questions about the fight from every kid who passed my hallway cubicle. And the incident served as a bonding experience between the bully and me--We were pretty good friends for the next couple of years after that. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. A lot of my relatives on my mom's side are or were teachers too. I agree with you, to a point. Although my relatives were very good teachers and later great tutors, I am appalled at what I've seen at the nearby school for the deaf. 20 - 30 students come out of that school a year. Only 3 to 5 earn a high school diploma, and if they're lucky, one gets to go to college. There are so many old timer teachers there that they just don't give a shit anymore. The problem is, these students can't be taught in a uniform way, as they're all different, and the teachers just let them fall through the cracks. Thread hijack over... sorry! I don't really blame the teachers for that; I blame the school systems. Schools today tie teachers' hands so tightly that the teachers eventually give up. I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names. -
