I have looked into it -- no one wants to install one on an RV because the aiming is so critical. Of course, they have trouble understanding that I know more about their services than they (the shlubs in customer service) do. I have been informed that there are some services coming down the pike in the near future that will change this picture, so will just have to bide my time. BTS, my first 'puter was a Heath H8 which I had to build (and I mean build, none of this selecting components and plugging them in). But mine was the neatest 'puter in the club in Vegas -- it had 16k of main memory! Only modems available were 300baud w/acoustic coupler. Dues? Hell yes, I've paid my dues!

As strange as that is, I was actually tipped once for catching tandems! We did 108 tandems one weekend, in high winds at that. and on Sunday, we were putting one of the TMs up on the Cessna between Otter loads to get them all in. At the end of the day, that particular TM tipped me for catching him on all 12 of his tandems that day. I, too, tried to refuse it, but I didn't want an ex-SEAL mad at me, so I took the tenner! As for packers, I have not tipped any for normal service, but I have when they have found stuff that I have overlooked, or done something extra for me. I can pack, in fact I packed all but two of the canopies I jumped during my AFF progression, but I feel I'm old enough and have enough money to share it with someone who needs it more than I do. Besides, packing hurts my knee too dang bad, and does nothing for my twice broken back.

That's why I hate the AVs, never forgave the Quebec Nordiques for breaking up the best line ever in the box scores: Stasny, from Stasny and Stasny!

My favorite's are those with answers. The best one I remember: "My mother made me a homosexual" "If I buy the yarn, will she make me one?"

HAH! And I say again -- HAH! You think that's bad? I had a cable modem for 6 years, then we moved into the RV. Now the very best I can get is 24000bps on my dialup (did hit 26400bps once). At least you can get DSL. At least at my mom's place, I can connect the brand new lightning fast computer at 53333bps every time. That seems to fly compared to this thing!

Like I said, he asks and begs, but he doesn't insist. Guess he figures we rely on our own sense of responsibility.

"My hovercraft is full of eels!" (sorry, folk, I had to do it...)

Before I had mine done, I asked Dr. Joel -- he said he asks skydivers to wait two weeks, but begs for one week! I waited a month because I had needed so much correction I needed extra time for things to settle out.

Lynn and I add our best wishes for your birthday, Bill.

Hear, hear! I always make it a point to tell my packer about my openings, especially the sweet ones. If I have a bad opening, I will talk with the packer and see if he/she had done anything different, if not, I suspect operator error. On the rare instance that I know I was in good opening position and get whacked I will discuss it in a non-confrontational way with the packer, and for some reason, the next opening is invariably sweet. I never bad-mouth a packer 'cause I figure they are human too. They make my life easier in general and I appreciate it.

Keep on tokin' man! Seriously, that was a sweet move to score the winning goal. I certainly didn't think there would be a sweep -- two best teams around. It will go 7 and the Wings will prevail.

Almost right Chuck. Those are among the requirements, but they are NOT mandatory (which was the other poster's point). You can do a partial style set for the C and a full style set for the D in lieu of the RW.

This is all well and good, but what about the damned doohickeys? Why is there such a cone of silence regarding them. Who's responsible for this coverup? Have you seen my baseball?

0:0:0 Went to the dz Saturday to try my "new" canopy -- after seeing video persons going "I really am not looking forward to this" and TMs going "This isn't a lot of fun", I decided i would wait until normal wind conditions returned to FL. Thought I'd try Palatka with their $10 jumps today on my birthday, but woke up to high winds and rain. "Welcome to Sunny Florida" my ass!

Sending many hugs and a big smooch... Way to go, Lisa. Congratulations on your accomplishments.

Shirley ewe geste! (that has to be the funniest thing anyone has posted on this here site in a coon's age!)

Yeah, go Ruwah! Go pick those pucks out of your goal, Patrick. They're cluttering the place up!

Felt many a quake when we lived in Vegas back in the '70s. More than a couple nuke tests, as well. If you felt a tremor in the morning, first thing was to check the clocks -- if it was on the hour/half hour, you knew it was a test and not to worry about seeking shelter.

WFFC 1998 -- AllFlagler 10 way out of the CASA. My wife Lynn and I are in the five-way base. It funnels on exit (no surprise), but she and I are still together. The others stay with the funnel too long. All settles out, we are stable waiting for the base to rebuild, but no one is docking(?). One of the other jumpers comes close in my right side and is gesturing, pointing at Lynn, so I look down her gear -- her reserve ripcord is floating in the wind and to my right, there is her cutaway pillow hanging by about 6 inches of yellow cable! I tap her on the head so she looks down to see the mess; after breakoff, she goes directly for the silver handle, not wanting to take any chances on one of those surprises you mention. Actually she waited what seemed an ungodly amount of time, that really scared us the most! I only posted this Bill, to fill in one of the tiny gaps in your knowledge base, as you said you hadn't heard of it happening. Thanks for all your informative posts. Have to go, late for my ADA meeting --Dyslexics Against Drugs.

Manufacturers and customer service...[RANT]
jceman replied to GrumpySmurf's topic in Gear and Rigging
A-frickin'-men, Lisa. When I was in demo mode, I called the manufacturers and got to know the people running the demo programs. I demoed a shitload of canopies, and without fail, I got what I was promised when I was promised it. I don't think I was anything special or even lucky, just did the networking and my research beforehand. If you have a problem with using the phones at work for long distance, there is a thing called a calling card. All that shows on the company phone log is a call to an 800 number; keep the calls to a reasonable number and you should have no problem. -
Nah, I'm just phyne\\\\\ fyne\\\\ ok. Well, mehbee eye have a bittle lit of tervous ncik?

Good advice, but as my wife is a big time sit flyer I'll pass on what she did in her suit progression. She started learning in tight shorts and baggy sweatshirt then got a sit suit from Tony Suits at the WFFC in '99. This helped her learn, but had the same problem the original poster's wife now has, she was way slow -- stable and capable, but way slow. She had Mike Michigan make her a FF suit, but because she was planning on doing more sit than head down, she had him make the legs tighter, reducing drag, and left the arms normal, increasing drag. Result? she now falls with others at the same rate. Regardless of the suit, however, the key to increasing fall rate in the sit is, as someone else noted and Lynn will tell others she helps, is to drive those feet down and power your way to speed, along with bringing the hands slightly above shoulder level.
