    Sooo true. I started jumping a year ago and remember not knowing anything about gear. I just went with whatever people suggested. Didn't really trust the local gear dealer at first (it's a built-in defense mechanism to not trust people selling stuff). I found dropzone.com the night after my first skydive. It'd be great to have a dealer-review or some other resource available to people that visit this site. Gotta go... plaything needs to spank me Feel the hate... Photos here

    Unfortunately it's a bit more complicated because of the skins on the beam. I've tried several approximate solutions, one being identical to the one shown on that web page but it doesn't work well because young's modulus is much higher for the skin than for the foam core.     Tell her she should be worried because you can die on any skydive. You can also get seriously fucked up on any skydive. Don't try to reason with her because it won't work. Instead, confirm all of her fears, which are IMHO pretty legitimate. Then explain to her why you feel that the risks are worth taking. Hopefully she'll understand and accept the risks you are taking. More importantly, first try to justify to yourself why you think skydiving is worth getting crippled or dying. Then explain to her why you feel you're willing to risk seriously changing your life just to jump out of a plane. BTW, If I were you i'd be more worried if she DIDN'T care.     I am trying to calculate the defelction of a cantilever with an end load. The rectangular beam is composed of two thin skins of carbon composite and a rvc carbon foam filling between the two skins. I know young's modulus for both materials. Can you tell me how to solve for the deflection vs. position along the beam? I'm also interested in the deflection of this system from gravity. Thanks.     I just read this article on cnn HERE . This article talks about a girl who can't feel pain, and all the drawbacks of not feeling pain. This got me thinking, is it worth not feeling pain? Would you rather not feel physical pain knowing that people would constantly have to watch you to make sure you don't hurt yourself? Gotta go... plaything needs to spank me Feel the hate...     Filters only let that color pass thru to hit your recording medium. A #25 red filter will darken blue skies and accentuate clouds because the blue is prevented from hitting your b&w film. Red and green look similar on b&w film so one can use a green filter to darken reds. If you really want the best quality digital image i think you should go with a real filter, especially if you want to enhance the red channel. Most noise in digital cameras is in the red channel (go compare the red channel of any photo to the blue or green channels).     So how did Regan get away with firing all those ATC's? Back to the cops: Can't cops quit their job? If your job sucks ass so bad why not just quit? If you think your employer is shafting you why not quit and go get another job? Is it that difficult to walk away from a situation you don't like?
