  1. I answered you question the first time, yes. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  2. You realize that you closed with a rhetorical question, yes? I am not seeking to embarrass you. I am simply trying to illustrate for you, in my own peculiar way and according to my own peculiar views, that you are somewhat delusional on the subject of guns and their daily utility. I also hold that your delusion is, in some degree, caused by your faith that a spirit figure will guide your aim in a church full of screaming, panicking people. The problem is that the bastard who killed all of those innocents was also comfortable bringing his gun to church. The problem is that it is all too easy to get guns and that's why this damnable plague of mass shootings seems to have no end. The problem is that we have bump stocks and convertible AR-15's being sold in parking lots and high magazine capacity Glock's being carried openly on the streets of America. The problem is that too many people, owing to their own selfish self-interest, have bought into the good guy with a gun myth. The problem is that a certain large number of gun rights folks are terrified of giving an inch on anything. Well, I’m a gun rights guy but I am not freaked out about regulation and I don’t see a reason to go to prayer with a pistol in my pocket. Seriously, have you or has anyone you know that carries a concealed weapon, at church or no, ever needed it to stop a mass shooting or for an after the fact take down? Let's lower the bar to stopping a candy bar theft. How about using it for any legitimate reason? In response to your last question, yes. We have several LEOs and former combat vets in our congregation. But, like I stated at the beginning. We think differently over here than you people out there. 3. Around here 6 & 7 YOs begin training with their father's guns. Last year and again this year two 7 YOs killed their first buck. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  4. Now that's funny! I don't care who you are. ~Larry the Cable Guy Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  5. According Glenn Beck's monologue the other day, there are 314M guns in the U.S based on 2012 statistics. The murder rate by GSW is decreasing despite the mass shootings and Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, LA and other high crime cities. Our population is what? Around 324M. It would be an overwhelming task to challenge, test, license and insure all the gun owners. Why? Only law abiding citizens could be identified. Many otherwise law abiding folks would hide their guns. The bad guys would always have their weapons. This is like trying to control the earth's climate. There are many good ideas it is just that the job is to large. Remember, I am a pragmatist with strange ideas. I recall Nicolas Cage in The Lord of War? To paraphrase, there are 314M guns in a population of 324M people. That is almost one gun per person. The real question becomes, how do we arm the other 10M? Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. 6. I've gotten lost in your rhetoric. What exactly are you trying to point out as an embarrassment to me? I live in a community and attend a church where many members carry concealed and are comfortable with the practice. For me, and I believe I share this sentiment with the others, a concealed firearm is simply part of my everyday wardrobe, like socks and underwear. What are you looking for? 7. That is a simple question. God is omnipotent, omnipresent AND omniscient. It is appointed unto man to die once and then the judgment (Hebrews 9:27). God is in full awareness and knowledge of who, when and how. We thank Him for one more chance. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 8. I'm a winner! Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  9. There are no rules in a gunfight. The object is to be the last one standing. The Marines maintain that you should not enter a gunfight using a handgun with a caliber less than 4. Instructors say concentrate on the front sight and squeeze the trigger. We do not try to calculate the final outcome. We plan to do our very best, trust the Lord to guide our aim and to neutralize the threat. It is a potential gunfight. How else can you rationally consider it otherwise. Except of course, be an unarmed victim. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  10. Evil is a given perception. I think he conjured some form of a plan since he started shooting from the outside which would create mass confusion prior to entrance. However, for some reason I believe he hated children. He attacked his stepson and fractured the boy's skull. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 11. I think there is only a slim chance of an intruder into my church. Our total community does maintain a pioneer mountain reputation. We are the origin of the Trail of Tears and the Foxfire traditions. However, my wife and other wives worry about safety and that is good enough for me. 12. I know you don't attend church and probably not gay nightclubs. Your risk is somewhat reduced. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  13. See, that is where you people get all jumbled up. It is not fear. It is freedom along with personal responsibility and training. We know that bad guys are out there and we are prepared. 14. You are thinking spray and pray. Not applicable in our community. At least not among those that I know personally. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  15. The nerf gun idea is pretty good. The only alternative, and the one jakee is looking for, is for all of us to leave our weapons at home. That is not going to happen. Most of us carry and some even when at home. This is an armed community not just my church. Oh, we are Protestant Pentecostal, no statues of Mary. We have a plain cross, the American flag and the Christian flag. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. 16. Into the bad guy(s) and the walls. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  17. I used the term the way it was used in our conversation. The meaning was a hail of bullets in a crossfire because so many carry firearms. It did not mean we would kill our brothers and sisters in Christ to neutralize the bad guy(s). We talk different here than you people out there. Furthermore, if such an incident occurred in my church, I doubt that any innocents would be shot by one of us. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  18. I believe I stated the risk in my earlier post. Our CCW members are mostly ex-military or LEOs so the risk would be reduced. It is understood when bullets are flying there is risk. It would be best for me not to engage your second question. Besides I've lost interest now and will check out. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

  20. I agree with your statement. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  21. Well, basically we do not think like that. We are not angry and afraid. Your conjecture is not us. At least not in my church. You have to consider the social environment we each live in. I really do not understand you people very well either. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. 22. In your attempt at witticism, the above statement lacks real meaning. What exactly did you mean? Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  23. Just jumping on the end not aimed at DJL. When you consider the martyrs of the 1st Century Christian Church, why would rational human beings continue in the faith? Why does the Christian belief continue in faith while underground in China and Vietnam? Life assurance does not mean that your body will not die. Everyone is appointed unto death once and then the judgment. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. 24. Yes I do but apparently you are confused. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  25. That stimulated some thought. First, no where does the Bible state that God will deliver us from physical death. Sometimes He does and sometimes He does not. What the Bible does state is that the true believer is assured eternal life in Christ. Second, not everyone who attends church service is a true believer. The congregation also contains non-believers and make believers. God can also allow the reaper to pass by them or not. Third, death for the true believer is a blessing as soul and spirit leave to be with Christ. We naturally try to postpone the big event but when it occurs it is accepted.
