Same thing, working with the client from a broad base of counseling techniques. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

I was using the term eclectic as a counseling term. I don't know what you are talking about. To clarify, I am a Christian who was employed as a counselor. Prior to that I had a private Christian counseling practice. Two different job descriptions and functions. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

In the counseling field we call that an eclectic approach. We are ethically bound to walk the path the client walks. Here in SC it is pretty much a free fire zone. Don't cha think? This forum is similar to an encounter group. The difference being the group rules have not been firmly established and agreed upon. Encounter groups also have a beginning and an end. SC goes on ad nauseam, as Winsor would say. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

If you are going to try and insult me at least choose terms correctly. Try and pick some that you truly understand the accepted definition. Okay, so I was looking for a reference to Credo quia absurdum, but I stumbled across this. Apropos of nothing it may be, but it struck me as funny as hell. Man, you are hitting bullseyes here lately. Thank you for this reference. It supports my long held belief, often stated here to the chagrin of most others, that the mind is a very useful tool. However, if one attempts to enthrone it to the master level it falls way short. In fact it is lousy as such. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. Yes, it can be used in conjunction with the Johari Window. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

NM Court: Christian Business Owners Have No Rights

Yes, but only to have the chance to hit him over the head when his back was turned and throw him into an arena filled with hungry lions. That is support for the Christian conservative advocacy of 2nd Amendment rights along with concealed carry permits. SYG and be wary of liberal attacks from your blind side. NM Court: Christian Business Owners Have No Rights

Yup, and I may well decline the tract as throwing it away would require some effort, but I wouldn't try and shove them away with their religion. Because of tattoos I am often approached by the religious on the street where they try and teach me about things I already know. I don't tell them to fuck off... I discuss the religion with them, my position on it, why I believe what I do. We have a debate on the reasons of verses and their desired impact, the history of it and usually at the end of a good debate we are both smiling and shake hands and part ways. Well then, you are a perfect gentleman. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them. -
NM Court: Christian Business Owners Have No Rights
RonD1120 replied to RonD1120's topic in Speakers Corner
..... but aren't the gay couple the customers? Many Christian businesses are established to serve Christians. Christian Yellow Pages are published and marketed through churches and other Christian organizations for the purpose of maintaining trusted relationships. Some Christians will not do business with someone who advertises as such and then does work or perform services in the secular world. Right or wrong is not the issue. It is a fact of life. Therefore, the Christian photographer should have the right to decline the gay couple's offer. IMO Unfortunately I have to agree this often seems to be a matter of fact, at least around here (Georgia, USA). This was brought home to me several years ago, when a woman who worked with my wife was getting married. My wife recommended a friend of hers who has a small business baking cakes, especially wedding cakes (which are really good). The co-worker thanked my wife for the suggestion, but told her there was a woman from her church who baked cakes, and it would cause "problems" for her if she passed over the person from her church to do business with an "outsider", even though the cakes weren't actually all that good. That's when I realized joining a church was a business decision; belonging to a large church immediately gave you a large client base, whereas belonging to a small church was much worse for business, and having no church at all was possibly disastrous. I wouldn't say your small business can't survive if you don't belong to a church, but for sure a big church (big in terms of members) is a significant leg up. Anyone who thinks that in the Bible Belt the only consideration when choosing a church is theology and whether or not you like the priest/minister is missing a big part of the picture. Even if you are a closet atheist, you could look at Sunday morning (and Wednesday evening for Baptists) as necessary advertising. Don Can I get an AMEN! I believe that and I totally accept it as the truth. Ah, that is science, right? Not hardly. Science has precisely nothing to do with belief. Any of the processes described by bvn are well documented, and their results routinely reproducible. Whether or not they are economically viable is another question altogether. We have a problem here, in which our way of life is dependent upon consumption of oil - or approved equivalent (see above) - to the tune of tens of millions of barrels a day. If you do the arithmetic, that's one hell of a lot of oil. 200 years worth, at our current rate of consumption, is some 14 trillion barrels, and there is precisely no way there are those kind of reserves just lying around just waiting to be found. We are going to change our ways in the forseeable future, either willingly or by default. If we started yesterday to undergo a complete paradigm change regarding our use of energy, at the fastest rate possible, the effects would still be dreadful, and it is too little too late anyway. Since we are still muddling around trying to maintain the status quo that we could not afford 35 years ago, all the while getting the petroleum on which we rely on seemingly endless credit, the question is simply when it will all go to hell. Every time an economic system has wound up this far behind the power curve, it has imploded. At some point, the dollar is fated to revert to its inherent value, which is, in fact, zero. If the US of A was self-sufficient, the results of such a default would be catastrophic. This, however, is overly optimistic, since we are anything but self-sufficient. Despite the extent to which we are impressed with ourselves, cutting off imports of petroleum (as well as everything else) we cannot afford will result in complete shutdown of major portions of the US economy. There are going to be a lot of very hungry people. At any rate, if we chose to develop the capacity to use sunlight to generate a million barrels a day of 100 octane gasoline, it would not be enough to affect the overall equation. If we focus on changing our way of life so we do not need all the petroleum or petroleum substute, it might make things a little better when the spigot is turned off, but the likelihood of that is effectively zero. Enjoy yourself - it's later than you think. BSBD, Winsor Excellent analysis, thank you for taking the time to spell it out. Like yourself I believe we racing toward the cliff and the best we can do is slow the speed by maybe 10 mph. I was just spoofing billvon with my reply earlier. I have no idea what he was talking about but I trusted him to be telling the truth. A courtesy I am not often granted. But, I digress, we all know why I am full of it. Jesus said lots of things that the "Christian right" now ignores. The point was that Jesus showed bias and prejudice toward some types of business. He also partied with sinners. You are correct. We have a lot of problems in our ranks. The Christian world is not perfect to be sure. We are all not robots as you would like to make us out to be. We fuss with each other all the time. But, in the end we all know Whose we are and where we will spend eternity. As the old saying goes, we are not perfect, just forgiven. And don't forget Jesus got angry and drove the local businesses out of the temple area. We can and do make choices. Your kind and my kind. If you needed your grass cut and you had the choice between a Christian and a secular business how would you make the choice? Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. Right or wrong is exactly the issue... And you showed in the last line that you think it's okay. But judging from your previous posts on the persecution of Christians, you'd be the first to have a fit when non-believers start refusing service to Christians based on their faith. In one breath you'll say that people need to be more tolerant of peoples live decisions, and yet in the same breath go ahead and say you support Christians being intolerant enough to refuse service to people who share different views. That seems the Christian way, everyone must be tolerant, unless they are not living according to Christian ideals. You missed the point that this photographer is not providing an essential service. Hypothetical example, if I owned an advertised Christian lawn cutting business and a gay couple asked me to cut their lawn. I can say yes and use the opportunity to witness to them and justify my choice to my brothers and sisters as evangelism. I can say yes and possibly face retribution and maybe loss of future income from my brothers and sisters. Or, I can say no and avoid the issue altogether. It seems the major fault of the Christian photographer was the way he said no. Now that I am an enlightened Christian lawn cutter I would say, my schedule is full and I won't be able to get to you until December. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. Anyone who thinks that a single bullet fired or a single casualty suffered in Vietnam or Iraq resulted in preserving or protecting American freedom is a fool. The Conservatives in this country, once a label for those fat and bloated by wealth, or culturally demented by generations of institutionalized racism, have grown out of the Klansmen and John Birchers of the 50's and 60's. They were enticed by Goldwater, co-opted by Nixon and manipulated like chess pieces by Reagan, and they were first in line when called upon by the draft-dodging Bush and Cheney to gullibly swallow the toxin of the Patriot Act like pablum, and sacrifice their children to foreign wars that did not buy the American people a single extra day of security in their homes and beds. Between 2001 and 2008 they SUCCEEDED in reducing the US's status in the world. They are the domestic enemies of the U.S. Constitution. No way that I can buy in to that analysis. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

Sorry Don, I don't hate like you think I do. There are many situations, circumstances and political activities that takes place in America that really pisses me off. However, those scenarios do not bring me to hate. If you could spend some 1:1 time with me you would understand. And sorry again, you cannot judge my Christian walk because you simply do not comprehend what the path is or what comprises spiritual life. But, that's OK. "For those who have fought for it, freedom has a flavor the protected will never know." ~Unknown from the post Vietnam War era. The liberals in this country have grown out of the protesters of the the 60's. They have been protected to the point where they are infected. They do not like the U.S.A. and they want to reduce its status in the world. They are the domestic enemies of the U.S. Constitution. IMHO Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. Thank you for your service and for the candid post. We worked so very hard in the 80's to get services for the Vietnam vets. By the beginning of the 90's we had a handle on the problems. Not a perfect system by any means but at least we were curbing the stateside self-destruction without drugging the vet into oblivion. Now, with the GWOT vets we seem to be back to square one. Counseling groups are not effective or they are not being utilized. As a former group leader, we say the power is in the group. The members will pull themselves up. It is called the therapeutic milieu. The band of brothers must stick together to survive. Death is as real in the states as it is in the box or down range. Watch each other's six. Vietnam vets have a saying, Together Then, Together Again. Whatever you have to deal with here, one of your buddies is dealing with the same thing. You guys figured it out over there, you can figure it out here. I belong to the VVA and the Patriot Guard Riders. We are survivors and we are willing to share the secrets. Seek us out, we are all over the country. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
