    Nah dude, the stabilizer is weakened on some kind of plate and needs to be replaced. The stolen aircraft reflect the fact that we're short on other options and the dzo's not here yet. On the bright side we do have a pilot who just made his first jump last weekend is itching to go again, so maybe a little road trip down to Skydive Burnaby and an Otter hijacking could be arranged. Some little stretch of the truth along the lines of "hey pilot guy, I heard there was free beer and hot women up in Baldwin" would probably work.     So, I find out this morning that the horizontal stabilized is pooched on our DZ's only jump plane, a C-206. We can't get it back in time for the weekend obviously, so it's time to think of a solution. Which of the above would you rather jump out of in a situation where your home DZ has no planes, you can't go anywhere else and you just have to get airborne.     Reserve Ride

    Wow dude, that freaks me out, mainly because almost the same thing happened to me last wednesday on jump 26, 7 cell 210 main and reserve, pulled stable and it just opened hard as hell and a cell was torn nose to tail. Took a look did control check and decided it had to go. Sometimes you can do everything right and shit happens anyway and you just have to deal with it. Personally I feel safer jumping now than I did before knowing my reserve will save my life. Does anyone else feel better after their first chop? I know people here who are having dreams about it if they think they're due for their first chop or mal. Anyway good job buddy cuz you're still here.     For CSPA Licence you have to do a "ride the slide" exit which is essentially sitflying. I guess the idea is to ensure people can recover stability from different exit positions, but then again you could just have a jm toss your ass out the door. This is actually a relatively new addition to our licence requirements, and I wonder if it reflects the shift toward freeflying at earlier jump #'s. I had so much fun on my first one I did it again on my last jump and ended up going into a slow flat 360 before I went back to my belly...     This is my first weekend living on a dz so I celebrated today with five jumps, and this morning I had six total so it wasn't bad for me. Some sketchy deployments though, moving from a c-182 to a 206 where you just jump out the door sideways is friggin hard. My back hurts.     What do you mean by right away? Like less than 50-100 jumps? Probably not a good idea. You have to learn stability in the boxman (belly arch) first. There's a clip on skydivingmovies.com where Andy Ford explains a lot of the risks in freeflying, I think it's called vertical reality.     Our DZ just opened this weekend, so I came home from school and did two jumps. The first was crappy cuz the wind made my landing rough, but the second was my first freefall! I nailed the jump from exit to landing, screamed like a maniac the whole way down, landing was great too. Definitely my favorite so far, and it's only gonna get better!     I've never heard about that. Not many ppl actually end up killing burglars here anyway. It would make sense in a context of establishing justified self-defence though.
