I miss static line. Good times!

Thanks for the advice guys! I’ve got the overhead fixture set and not leaking and now just need a quick trip to Home Depot to extend the pipe in the wall a couple of inches. The help is much appreciated. Typically I don’t try and do plumbing. Nearly done with this project- the wife’ll be happy to have a bathroom again!

What could be done about that? "knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously, OK? Just knock the hell ... I promise you I will pay for the legal fees. I promise." "I'd like to punch him in the face." "Any guy that can do a body slam, he is my type!" (about man who attacked a reporter) He said those things more than 4 seconds ago. You can't expect him to remember every little thing he's said or hold him to them! Don't be ridiculous! Hell, Obama probably said it first.

Good morning guys, I'm looking for a little advice on finishing up a bathroom remodel - unfortunately my plumber has left me in the lurch because he's a greedy **'@ and I'm having to take on final fitting of fixtures, vanity plumbing and toilet installation myself. I'm pretty confident about the vanity work and fitting the toilet, but I'm not sure what I need to do to fir the shower heads to the rough-in pipework the previous plumber left. Am I supposed to cut the pipe and tap it, does it unscrew and the fittings simply screw back in or will some sort of extension be required? I've attached some pics of what's been left for the rain head and wall mount bracket, as well as the fixtures themselves in case that's any use. If you can provide any advice I'd really appreciate it. Many thanks Will

At that point you move to Canada, or France, or the UK, or anywhere that doesn't have such a god-awful healthcare system.

He would say I am the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father except by me. In this world, you will suffer tribulation and strife. The world will hate you as they hate me. But, be of good cheer for I have overcome the world. And don’t forget to grab ‘em by the pussy.

Cracking post and worthy of wider dissemination but unfortunately completely wasted on its intended recipient. Trump isn’t Obama, therefore...

Lest we forget, you also took being called further right wing than nazi white supremecist and grand arsehole David Duke as a badge of honor as well.

So if and when it is found that the people who sent the bombs are far right wing Trump supporters, you will admit that Trump is evil? No, that does not compute in my mind. Individuals are individually responsible for their own behavior. If blame is to be placed, I would say it falls on BHO & HRC as they are the ones who instigated the divisiveness in the recent past. We have a current president who has stated outright that the media 'is the enemy of the people' (and that's just one example) and you think Obama and Clinton are MORE responsible for divisiveness? Those are some blinkers you've got on.

A average citizen from middle America strikes leading Democratic Party members in a series of letter bomb attacks. Terrorism or Patriotism? Paranoia by an American hero or a desperate action to preserve the US way of life? Are the whispers of a secret government pulling these strings more than just rumors? Lines are drawn as politics become warfare in the latest bestseller by this author. Sounds like a shitty airport novel doesn’t it? How the fuck did we get here?

It is better to invest a portion of your income rather than rely on your tax refund. The IRS uses withholdings interest-free. Put the difference in withholding into a savings account and you will come out ahead. I don’t say this often, but I agree with Ron.

A land owner attempting to confiscate my personal property, or having me arrested for trespassing in that situation would result in a very interesting interaction. If I land off, I am very apologetic and diplomatic. I support a DZ fine system where off landings result in a $5-$10 drop in the fine jar that gets spent on the neighbors at Christmas in some fashion to keep up relations. But if they want to be an ass, I will rise to the challenge. We really need a rolling eyes emoticon.

You do get that solar is the least risky energy source of all, right? If the sun goes out, everyone's screwed, not just the folks who have solar panels. I didn't think I would have to explain this, but the future risk I was referring to was a problem with your solar cells, inverters, and/or batteries. I was not referring to the sun going out. And the supply risk was referring to a string of cloudy days or perhaps partial cell damage that prevent fully charging batteries, or diminished battery capacity or unexpected high usage that results in an unplanned outage. Which is why you do a bunch of studies before getting solar installed that look at the average expected amount of sun, the intensity (rate of production) as well as the expected usage. You then decide how many cells to put on your roof. Let me ask you this - do you always put exactly enough gas in your car to JUST get to your destination? Of course not. You make sure you have an excess. When you look at your solar requirements you do the same. You factor in worst case usages and production and go from there. At least you do if you've got any sense. That gives you a total cost for installation. For us, the ROI was about 9 years with every part having a minimum of 20 years warranty. That said, for us it didn't make sense at the time. I'm rethinking it now. There are also a bunch of ways to purchase solar. If you can afford to buy it outright you're not taking on any financial risk. In fact you're adding value to your home. If you choose to lease the equipment that's got it's own issues, as does simply letting a solar company install on your home for free and a guaranteed monthly payment that's less than your local electricity supplier. It's not for everyone and it's still a developing technology, but sure as shit fossil fuels ARE going to run out. That's a fact. We'd better have something in place before that happens because if we're scrambling in an emergency when that happens everything will cost 10x more and be 10x less effective.

Best argument I've ever heard.

You make a fair point aaaasaand you fucked it. You just couldn’t help yourself, could you?

How do you figure it was always meant to be a political body? Looking back at the original wording there’s not even anything about unlimited terms. Judges serve under ‘good behavior’...

So what? Honest question. I don’t understand why you bring it up. It doesn’t make you privy to a higher level of information. In fact anyone who’s been around skydiving for a while also knows a bunch of special operations folks. I’m sure you BELIEVE you have access to super-secret, back channel information that confirms all your fears in the same way 8 year olds believe the glasses you cut out of the back of cereal packages are real x-ray specs. That doesn’t make it true.

I wrote a bot some time ago that makes rush-esque posts. It just picks randomly from a list of his favorite 15 or 20 phrases and then responds to Bill or Kallend after a time delay. I've still got the code around here somewhere. Replacing a human being on a forum, their thoughts, interpretations and opinions should not be a 10 minute piece of work and a less than 30 lines of code.

i'm not sure I'd go that far, but the laziness and complacency the Dems showed during the last presidential election is why we're in this mess. They certainly need to do a whole lot more and a whole lot different. You're absolutely right about the passion of the leaders of the republican party. The Democrats could certainly take that lesson. I'm also leaning your way on firing the whole bunch and getting in a younger more driven group. Anyone can make a mistake once. What I don't tolerate from my employees or myself is making the same mistake again... That's what I'm seeing in the Democrats and it makes me furious.

No. But it WOULD limit the damage they could do in the long term. The appointments are already political AND have no time limit. If you can't get rid of one, get rid of the other. The Supreme Court is always going to lag a bit in the Conservative vs. Progressive concept. On average there's one replacement about every 5-10 years. I'm not concerned with that kind of turnover. What I AM concerned with is the SC nomination being more entwined with the 4-year cycle of popular/fad politics. Given the current state then you're right. There's a lag and association with current political leanings. I wouldn't be worried at all with that turnover IF the judges were selected regardless of their political leanings, but they're not, and that makes the Supreme Court a political institution as much as a legal one. But there shouldn't be any relation between politics and the SC all - that's the point. John Marshall served 34 years as a chief justice. If he had been a political placement the way we're doing it now the amount of damage he could have done would be incalculable. That's why I suggested the chief justices should be picked anonymously by their peers rather than by the government. If you can remove the politics from the selection then I have no problem with lifetime term limits. The SC goes back to being what it was originally intended to be. Once the supreme court becomes a political entity the solution isn't to worry less about 1 replacement every 10 years. It's to worry more because it becomes a political arm without any oversight or accountability.

Yeah. You'd want a new pair of trousers after that. The photo of the astronauts in that article is weird. Instead of smiling and relieved they're staring at each other as though blaming the other guy for the failure. Odd one for NASA to release.

If the Democrats want to survive they need to get off their arses and actually do SOMETHING, not just sit and whinge about how shitty Trump's government is. They're a fucking embarrassment at the moment with how they EXPECT things to go their way in November. If nothing else every single state should be flooded with adverts from the DNC telling people to get out and vote; that the future of the country is literally in the hands of the people and that if people choose not to vote then they can't complain about the next 4 or 6 years. TV. Radio, billboards - whatever.
