Did you say: "I'll NEVER eat that" "Gross" Or you fed it to the dog under the table? For me it was broccoli - avoided it until I was 30 and then found out how great it tastes! What was it for you? _______________________________________

I live in a subdivision where people go all out decorating for holidays. With Halloween approaching, I thought it would be a bit different to abandon the pumpkin - frightfest decorations and try something new. I was thinking of doing up the front of the house as a "crime scene", yellow police tape, the works. Anyone have any cool ideas for other decorations? We are going to do the body outline on the ground. maybe dummies under white sheets, etc. _______________________________________

This may be an oldie but I never saw it before. Just in case you ever got the two mixed up. This should make things a bit clearer. IN PRISON.. You spend the majority of your time in an 8X10 cell. AT WORK... you spend the majority of your time in a 6X8 cubicle. IN PRISON...you get three meals a day. AT WORK...you only get a break for one meal and you pay for it. IN PRISON...you get time off for good behavior. AT WORK...you get more work for good behavior. IN PRISON...the guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you. AT WORK...you must carry around a security card and open all the doors for yourself. IN PRISON! ...you can watch TV and play games. AT WORK...you get fired for watching TV and playing games. IN PRISON...you get your own toilet. AT WORK...you have to share with some idiot who pees on the seat. IN P RISON....they allow your family and friends to visit. AT WORK...you can't even speak to your family. IN PRISON...the taxpayers pay all expenses with no work required. AT WORK... you get to pay all the expenses to go to work and then they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners. IN PRISON...you spend most of your life inside bars wanting to get out.. AT WORK...you spend most of your time wanting to get out and go inside bars IN PRISON...you must deal with sadistic wardens. AT WORK...they are called managers. _______________________________________

I posted this on another thread but thought maybe better to startt one! Have NEVER been to the show. Love the planes, hate crowds but really have the urge this year. We will be coming in from beautiful (yeah, sure) Joliet. Anyone have any tips on good spots to watch from? I tried Metromix for info but the local clubs/restaurants are soooooo pricey. Usually not a problem to hoof it to get to a spot but hubby has a sore ankle and can't go too far. Any help is appreciated! _______________________________________

Skydivers Who are Pilots...or Pilots Who are Skydivers
skygazer replied to skygazer's topic in The Bonfire
Wow...nice to hear of all the pilots here! You all would have died laughing watching me taxi the first time, could not go in a straight line, gotta get those feet coordinated! It is a lot more costly than I had originally thought, now I have to find the $$$ to be able to fly several times a week rather than every weekend as I planned. Everyone tells me better (and cheaper in the long run) to fly as much as possible. I don't know how I end I with these expensive hobbies! Oh well, keeps me happy! hope I can occasionally ask for opinions from pilots here once in a while. _______________________________________ -
Skydivers Who are Pilots...or Pilots Who are Skydivers
skygazer replied to skygazer's topic in The Bonfire
Thanks to all...I guess I certainly am not in a position to compare - 3 tandems has not allowed me to call myself a skydiver, that's for sure. As much as I loved it, I can only afford one sky hobby at a time...wait a minute, did I say I can afford one? Yeah, right. I mean I can throw every extra penny at one. See you in the sky................................. _______________________________________ -
Skydivers Who are Pilots...or Pilots Who are Skydivers
skygazer replied to skygazer's topic in The Bonfire
Just curious since I started my flight training...how many of you who are out there are also pilots? Which is your first "love"? I found that although nothing matched the experience of my three jumps, I find both peace and relaxation at the controls. Share your thoughts? _______________________________________ -
Well, I did it. Went to the local airport yesterday on my lunch hour, told them I want to learn to fly! I meant one of the instructors and we connected right away. Showed me around...I almost didn't go back to work! So Sunday is my "discovery" flight and the lessons start from there. I am so excited. I am happy in the sky, my 3 jumps let me taste it, now I know I want to be a pilot. It has been something I have thought about my entire life. My skydiving was the best thing I have ever done...I helped me have the confidence to do anything but I don't think I was doing it for the right reasons. My favorite parts were the ride to altitude and being under canopy. I thank the wonderful folks I have met here and hope I can still visit dz.com. I know I will still go out to SDC, I will always love the camaraderie of the DZ and the great folks there. Any of you pilots that have any hints I'd love to hear from you. Thanks for all the support! _______________________________________

The teacher gave her fifth grade class an assignment: Get their parents to tell them a story with a moral at the end of it. The next day the kids came back and one by one began to tell their stories. "Johnny, do you have a story to share?" "Yes, ma'am, my daddy told a story about my Aunt Mary. Aunt Mary was a pilot in Desert Storm and her plane got hit. She had to bail out over enemy territory and all she had was a small flask of whiskey, a pistol and a survival knife. She drank the whiskey on the way down so it wouldn't fall into enemy hands and then her parachute landed right in the middle of twenty enemy troops. She shot fifteen of them with the gun until she ran out of bullets, killed four more with the knife, 'till the blade broke and then she killed the last one with her bare hands." "Good heavens," said the horrified teacher, "What kind of moral did your daddy teach you from that horrible story?" "Stay away from Aunt Mary when she's been drinking." _______________________________________

I did the "Warbird Adventure" flight on Saturday. It was nothing less than fantastic. I guess I was not meant to be a skydiver (with my 3 tandems), I want to FLY the plane. I am immediately getting set up for flying lessons. I cannot explain the peace I found in the sky. Skydiving was the ultimate thrill but I was so happy at the controls! I want to learn to fly more than I have ever wanted anything in my life! How crazy is that? Hope I'm still welcome here! Will be posting pictures soon. _______________________________________

I posted Eddie's pic - he's my baby! I added it to my original post. Tennis balls are his life. I have brought him out to SDC to hang out - his expression is priceless when he sees people dropping out of the sky! _______________________________________

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... _______________________________________

Hi All, Has anyone ever "flown" with Warbird? I received a gift certificate for Christmas for a 30 minutes flight with aerobics. Apparently they let you "fly" the plane and get a feel for piloting a WW2 plane. It includes video and stills. I have to admit I'm kind of excited about it - something different, although I am sure this video could never beat my first tandem. I am just curious if anyone has tried this and what the feedback was. They are based out of Florida but travel the US in the summer. They will be in the Chicago area this month at the Aurora airport. www.warbirdadventures.com _______________________________________
