  1. I'm thinking that when I retire, I want to be a coffee machine repair man. Drive around all day enjoying the great outdoors. Fix coffee machines in offices. Think about it, you're hardly ever in the same location, you're ALWAYS the hero when you fix the machine, and nobody will die if you don't do your job. An added plus, you'll never be out of work. Those things seem to break all the time. You either repair the old one, or just replace it with a new one. How hard is that? If you get paid by the number of machines you fix, you can work as much as you need to support your skydiving. Just my two cents.
  2. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but is that flying green frog on Animal Planet channel cool or what. Very nice form. It makes me want to jump so bad!!!
  3. Conundrum, It all depends on how far you are from here.
  4. I think even Foghorn Leghorn has some advice for you...
  5. Since she's a librarian, she probably is somewhat introverted, right? I'm guessing here. Anyway, just give her a lot more wine and let her take advantage of you. I haven't seen it yet, but I think the movie "Hitch" addresses some of this.
  6. In addition to sun-block, t-shirt, dramamine, shorts and shoes, wear a hat, if anything to save your head from hooks and such. Also, KEEP YOUR THUMB ON THE REEL when letting line out. otherwise, you'll be fighting a birdnest in no time. Deep sea fishing trips usually have helpers. They'll help you get your fish off the hook, change out the leaders, etc. Tip them well. Especially, if they earn it. If you're not catching anything after several "spots", that's when you really start drinking. Catching a "buzz" is better than catching nothing at all. I once paid $80 for a half pound of fish, (that's $160/pound for you math impaired out there) and it was one of the most fun days of my life. Also, if you're not smiling, you're not doing it right.
  7. This just goes to show you that you're never to old to live LARGE!!! Very cool indeed.
  8. I have an '86 BMW 325e. The odometer broke at 255005 over a year ago. I haven't got it fixed. I figure what's the diff? Ya know?
  9. Skymamma, I learned to ski about 5 years ago. I'm also from the South (Atlanta) so it was a learning experience. I wrote this "instructional guide" afterwards. Read both before AND after skiing for full belly laugh effect. I welcome a critique from others. Learning To Snow Ski Take some aspirin before you start. Line up a ski buddy that can gather the gear you lose. Put on boots. Pull off boots. Adjust the socks Put on boots again. Put on the skis. Next, stand up. Fall down. Stand up. Fall down. Stand up. Fall down on somebody and make ‘em fall down, too. Get in line for the ski lift. Fall down. Stand up. Fall down. Stand up. Here comes the lift! Shuffle toward the lift. Fall down in front of the lift. They stop the lift. No pressure. Stand up. Fall back down. Stand up and sit down on the lift before they crank it back up. Pull the thingy down so you won't fall out. Drop your pole. Take a drink. Lose your glove. Relax and enjoy the scenery. Get ready for exiting the lift. Put the thingy up so you can escape. Get off the lift and fall on your face. Skiing is such fun!
  10. "how many people do I owe beer?" I'm thinking that the person that packed your main, which being an AFF2 student you probably didn't pack, should kick in a little bit of beer. Shouldn't a rigger go over the main to help determine the cause? Also, your JM's probably saw the spin. They'll tell you that you did the right thing. Don't second guess. Much better safe than sorry. Get up there again soon. Now you KNOW that you can handle a malfunction successfully. That means a lot.
  11. Oh no... I remember everything from my tandem jump. After reading all the posts, I'm thinking I'm not normal. I got the video because I never thought I'd do it again. uhh.... 50+ jumps later....

I was at the DZ as well.Thank goodness, I didn't see anything but everyone running in the direction of the accident. The entire mood of the day completely changed. I give my heartfelt condolenses to the couple and their families. This was a beautiful day enjoyed by many beautiful people. In time, there will be many more...
