I do not have all day to read this entire thread, so sorry if any of this is a repost. If you want to do something about them actually take some time and do something. We called skyride and if you want to see for yourself call them and ask questions (and call a lot, it will drive up their costs) They would not tell us where they were located till after you paid. They claim to have a 100% safety record, never a student injury at one of their DZ's And we all know about the hidden fees. So I went online and filed some complaints. If you are not willing to do that at least ask if your DZ accepts them and if they do inform your DZO of their practices and have them call and ask some questions as a student. Also have your DZO research them online and check the BBB site http://www.atlanta.bbb.org/commonreport.html?bureau=atlanta&compid=6007042 Their bad practices reflect directly on the DZ that accepts them. Hey, Fellow michigan jumper here, I jump at Tecumseh. I started out alone also, couldn't talk any of my friends into it. I found the best way to find people to jump with at the DZ when first starting out is to just not be afraid to approach people and ask questions or start a general conversation. One thing that also helps a lot is if everyone hangs out after sunset make sure you stick around and just converse with people, once you get talking to some people I'm sure they will invite you on a jump. It is hard being the new guy on the DZ, and sometimes the regulars forget to approach new people and make them feel welcome. Depends on how many jumps you want to do and what specialty jumps. I would recommend at least 500, I usually spend about 750 at the convention. The site format was set up a few years ago, and I've only had a limited number of nights to work on the site. So I could not change the entire format just yet, I will be doing a lot more to it in the future. One thing to keep in mind. If you have him thinking you are interested, but are not ready to get into a relationship yet it may backfire on you. A lot of us men are impatient when it comes to these things, if you say one thing but are not willing to act on it eventually we will get frustrated, and that will lead to getting pissed off. Don't tell him you are interested unless you are ready now, because he may be ready now, it's not fair to tell him something like that and expect him to just put everything on hold till you are ready. just my opinion.
