Wingnut - I also got in before the rush, but they somehow missed my application and I didn't get my number until this past Monday (C-34326). I had to call to sort everything out (they were nice nice about getting me a number that day). People had gotten their cards before me and had faxed in their application at the same time. I freaked out on my AFP - 1 (it was right after my FJC and after spending all day talking about the bad things that could happen, I just couldn't do it). Rode the plane down. My JM thought that she would never see me again, but I went back 4 days later and knocked it right out. And even 80 jumps later, I am still getting nervous, but once I am in the door, it's all good. Some fear is good as is following your instincts. Everyone around here knows what they are talking about. I finally got to jump my shorter risers with slinks (no bumpers) and I can stow the slider with no problem now. I also have to remember to do that....I have a tendency to forget if it's not making any noise.... I suppose that I should clarify that I have a 6 gauge stainless steel tongue barbell and the balls on the ends of it are huge.... gotta make sure it doesn't slip through my tongue when I play with it (it happened when I had a 12 gauge in there.... kind of worrisome...) That's the most ingenious way I have ever heard of to replace a barbell ball! That's awesome. I will keep it in mind if it ever happens to me. A few years ago a friend asked if I wanted to go. I couldn't at the time as I had no money, but they weren't able to go either (they got winded out). Then last April, he asked again. I finally was able to afford it. A week or two before the jump, the Golden Knights did a demo in Veteran Stadium and that just made me want to jump even more. I had a great tandem and have not stopped since. 2 weeks after my first tandem, I had my father (who apparently has always wanted to go skydiving [must be where I get it from]) and sister (who has kept jumping with me) out for their first tandems. My father just did his first AFF jump (was a gift from my sister and I) - but, he unfortunately will not be keeping it up at this point. So, someone else got me into skydiving and I returned the favor by getting another person into it. Hello everyone. Seeing as how I have posted in another forum, I thought that I would introduce myself. I am more of a lurker, but I pop up every once in a while. I love reading what everyone has written, as it helps me to learn more about sky diving. I have been jumping for since last April (money and graduate school, keep my jump numbers low), because my friend suggested we do a tandem. I haven't stopped since and have no intentions to, either. This is the best place to be when not at the drop zone. Thanks!
