  1. Personal responsibility, social responsibility? Why would anyone want those traits when it's so easy to just sue someone else and get your fortune? The law does not support people who take personal responsiblity. Corporate America is doing it's best to eradicate this "trait" in people. But, rest be assured Jimmy, they shant get to me, and hopefully to none of you. I am responsible for everything in my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way. And, in the mean time, I'll keep my other eye on everyone around me, just 'cause I can, which, makes me feel responsible...
  2. Well, I jump of Vector III, so I don't think I'm as biased... I like infinity's the most Javelin's flaps open...constantly, I've seen too many videos of this Wings flaps open, not as constantly, but they are also more prone to wear as the pin protector flap is flimsy. Infinity's are just solid all the way around. And they're cheap!!
  3. wow, that's a strange comment, I thought that the raven recall was allowed to be fixed by some master riggers/lofts, And the crossfire recall, I'd suggest getting it fixed due to ... well, the collapse issue!! may as well get a new line set anyway. The mirage, prob has velcro riser covers, you may want to look into getting new velcro too...
  4. I agree with slotperfect... never had a complaint when packing 4 and 4 to the inside... But remember, recommendations are just that.
  5. I know of a rigger in Maine that YES does make people sign waivers before their reserve will get packed. Seriously. Had something to do with some rigger in Cali I think who got sued because he was the only one not included in the DZ waiver when some guy went in... (this is what I was told) ... The guy didn't even pull his reserve, but the family was out for vengeance and sued the only one they could...the rigger. But, before I became a rigger, I had to sign that waiver...
  6. not sure if you're explaining this right, but does it go through the chest strap..the housing that is? Sometimes, I've seen riggers forget to pull the housing through the chest strap and it kind of leaves it dangling and lose, but...I'd think this would be very evident, so I'm not too sure if this is what you mean.... Can you show a picture, or better yet, just bring it to your rigger!!
  7. that's how i had to do mine... pliers help, but if you've never done it b4, let you're rigger do it... good choice
  8. squish squish squish... I find a packing tool or pull up cord run through them and then through the gromet to have some leverage helps a ton...
  9. I always jump with a helmet... One day a friend of mine said... I can't wait ot get my D so I can feel freefall without a helmet... I thought..."really?" She was like yeah... I'll do a solo, you know so I'm safe... I said...What about landing? She'd never even thought about it....
  10. QUESTIONS: To be asked whenever there is any doubt... I'm just imagining all the people who decided they could hook up their gear all by themselves and did this or other things and have no clue because they are too proud to ask... good post, good question
  11. EIYIYI!!!! glad you're still with us.
  12. nice going Peter.... Another part of the CoP's is that we have like a hundred questions on our tests and you need to get 80% to pass. (Unless that has changed too) My B4076 I got 6 years ago, and I'm almost good enough to get the new "C"... Rules and Regulations are different in Canada too, as we don't deal with the FAA (because that's the United States Air-thingy-rule people)
  13. This has never really happened to me, but I've heard a lot of stories..... a lot Completly not acceptable!!! If they have no idea what's going on on the dive, they could kill you, themselves or both. This is not cool by any means.
  14. My mom flew out to a DZ I was working at to see what my life was like...I didn't get to jump while she was there, but she was happy to have experienced what I always phoned home about...My dad wanted to jump but didn't ever get the chance too...Everyone thinks I'm nuts but they don't really care as long as I'm happy.
  15. licenses are harder to get too.
  16. The 4 line group check does work, but is not necessary. Try following the lines with your eyes. You should also be able to see any step throughs with your primary line-check, and see the line groups attached to each riser go through their corresponding slider grommets. But, use your eyes... As for the inversion, yeah... mostly find that on windy days. Good advice for a student though...Just had to add my two cents
  17. Well I know at Skydive new england If you land on the other side of the runway, you cross it, but it's a private airport, and at X-Keys if you land on the other side of the airport, (out) you have to cross the runway... Are you sure this FAA guy just doesn't know the rules in accordance to skydiving operations? Sometimes don't they just give DZ's a hard time because they know a damn thing about skydiving...?
  18. If the container was open, I'd try to close it, if the pilot chute came out I'd stuff it back in (lest it be spring loaded)... but, again, doesn't a lot of this come back to prevention? I know a lot of people say they check their gear before they put it on, but come on, I work on a packing mat, I see how many people don't...and doesn't it also come back to teaching students about protecting their gear in the plane? I know that accidents happen, but gear checks help prevent them.
  19. you know what i meant....sorry for not being super specific.....
  20. Really????? Why do you think they do that?
  21. I'm sorry I was so general.... Basically, often when a canopy turns on opening...like the snivel-snivel-snivel-BAM-turn-to-the-right it is quite often the person. You reach up for your risers, or you look up at it, or you prepare yourself someway..who knows how, but in so doing that movement you influence the deployment. You are still in freefall until you have your pretty little rectangle open and above you. In my experience with my sabre(1) it often dives one way or the other, but when I actually started learning more about flying my canopy (my first canopy opened in like 300 feet, "the crippler/clipper"), after I put on a pocket slider, I had no idea what I was doing because I never had to really worry about flying an opening, I used to pull and WHAMMO. It really has more to do with an opening than most people think... it's so easy to blame the packjob, but that is hardly ever the case.... just my opinion.....(I can already hear the backlash)
  22. Did it ever occur to you that it may be that the parachute is not exactly perfect. No 2 Sabre2 150's will fly the same. Sometimes these things just happen. Fly your opening more, don't be a dope on a rope.
