  1. There you go wanting more rules again. Puke
  2. Do not see the French film 'Irreversible'. It won a bunch of awards at film fetivals, but is just down right distrubing. You will not have a good feeling after watching this film even though the most happy part is at the end.

It would be better if they didn't wear pads, and they each got to carry a weapon. Did anyone ever see 'Blood of Heros' with Rutger Howard? The sport they played in that movie was very entertaining. Seriously, the game of football stops after a few seconds of action and then everyone stands around for a few minutes... it is boring.

  6. That's why I never touch my face/mouth unless I have just washed my hands. I am with Tinkerbelle on this, I have never had cold sores and never want to get them. They freak me out. I will not even share a drink with my best friend. I will with an exclusive girlfriend who does not have a sore though.
  7. I'm still down with extreme bass fishing... Hell yes, when you reel the bass in swing it around your head like a helicopter.
  8. I am waiting for freestyle horseback riding. How cool would it be to see horses doing backflips and 540's?
  9. A - But really, think for yourself.
  10. I was in college at the time. I got the money for static line training by donating to the sperm bank. Took out a loan for "appliances" in order to buy my first rig.
  11. That does depend on the DZ. When I was an S & TA, I had the DZO override my decision to ground a jumper...... So that they get the education and training they need. Derek Wow, I think I would have resigned as S&TA right then and there!
  12. Are you having a laugh??? maybe landing on rear risers shouldn't be done just off student status or something, but it's a survival skill. It's very different landing with rear risers than just playing with them at 2 grand. This is something everyone should be able to do.... Will No, I am not having a laugh. Flaring only with rear risers results in a much higher stall speed. Depending on your wing loading and canopy this can result in a very hard landing. And if you are swooping, this can result in a landing that cannot possbily be run out or stood up. Why in the hell should someone be forced to make a crappy painful landing? This is a survival skill, but like an intentional cutaway you should not be forced to do this. What else do you want people to do? Land downwind? This is a survival skill, and a lot of fun, but it is dangerous. If you keep doing it you will eventually take a nasty tumble. Everyone does. How strong would the wind need to be in order to meet the USPA down wind test?
  13. Well sounds like some good things to try, but again that is just the basics of learning a new canopy. Why do we need more rules when students learn how to explore the performance envelope of a canopy during the USPA ISP? As far as landing on rear risers only, no way! I can see practicing flares up high on rear risers, but no one should ever be required to land a canopy using only rear risers unless they want to. Depending on the canopy, that is just asking for trouble.
  14. And how are you going to enforce it? Standing in the loading area and watching everyone step on a scale? Then checking the data against the max wingloading listed on their USPA member arm band which is required to board the aircraft? You're going to tell someone who just finished lunch that they are SOL because they are over weight now? The dropzone is going to be like a wrestling meet with everyone trying to make weight. What kind of simple tests are you referring to? There is already an accuracy requirement for each license. Do you mean a swoop test?! Surely you don't have to swoop to down size.
  15. You know canopy manufacturers make recommendations regarding experience level and wing loading for each canopy design. This is really the only thing that makes sense, as different canopies can have very different performance at the same wing loading.
  16. You are assuming that all the schools are teaching proper ISP; they are not. There is not a single dropzone in the state of Georgia so far as I can tell that is doing anything other than "old" seven-level AFF. Too bad. Yes, you are correct. But if you are not going to follow the current USPA recommendations to the letter, why would adding more regulations help?
  17. That letter is just stupid. What are you going to do, weigh people in as they are loading the plane so that you can check their wing loading? Force people to buy a new canopy because they gained 10 pounds and moved out of their approved wing loading range!? Tell an RW flyer they can't add weight to their belt? Furthermore, the current USPA A license progression requires you to explore the full range of canopy control. You learn how to explore the performance envelope of a canopy, all you need to do is apply this to each canopy that you jump. What else needs to be taught that experience and good judgment cannot teach? Surely you don't expect USPA to teach high performance landings. CRW should not be required to down size canopies either. I will never understand skydivers who want more rules. High performance landings are dangerous, learn to do them at your own risk.
  18. I did one before I ever had an emergency cutaway. Jumped an unmodified round. Chopped it at 3000. It was hella fun. Balloon jumps offer a similar feeling, but they are way better. Of course BASE is even more intense. Yes fun police, I did use a 3 parachute system. Though I would have no problem doing it on a two parachute system as long as I packed the reserve.
  19. Point Break is like the bible for my religion. It is the scripture and dogma that I base my entire belief structure on. Everything in that movie actually happened. The reason why Bodhi was able to walk away from the last landing, was that he did a good PLF. Johnny Utah never had a proper first jump course, so he did not know how to PLF. In addition to Johnnies poor training, he had blown out his knee playing for the ohio state buckeyes (#9). Please people, if Jesus can rise from the dead, surely Bodhi and Johnny can speak to each other in freefall. Also, prophets can bend the time space continuum to allow for longer freefalls.

    It's nasty!

I think it about killed my stomach a few times, though... Cool. Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't like their burgers very much, but I'll try their other stuff. It can't get worse than Smart Dogs. I have to agree that Smart Dogs are terrible. My girl left some in the fridge and I tried one. You are right they smell just like a regular hot dog, but don't taste like one. I normally eat just about anything, but not smart dogs.
  21. Dear Mr. Chiba, You just suck. Don't worry though, at least you are a good canopy pilot.
  22. There are also people like me who love cell phones, but would rather use someone elses than ever buy their own.
  23. There is still time to paddle to Crystal pier and then on to Scripps...
