Upon review of the launch tapes an unusual noise was discovered: "....yeeeeehaw!"

With Bigways, either FS/RW or WS the camera flyer has an important part in recording the jump (or at least a sector) for debriefing and record verification.

I was web surfing over at Shoezone.com and came across this post: "I work at a large retail shoe store and am really good at it. I've even spent some time with a local Podiatrist, so I really know how shoes are supposed to fit. My dilemma is this: I'm planning to run a marathon. Do I still need to train?" Even though tunnel time is very beneficial in developing certain skills, really none of those skills apply to wingsuiting. Think about it--how many wingsuits have you seen in the tunnel? I have a BLADE and it's an excellent wingsuit. Find an excellent drawer to put it in until you have the recommended jump numbers, experience and training. Really.

Jeff Nebelkopf was planning to put up a wingsuit dive for photos, still waiting to hear how it went. -
Being tall and thin, I'm considering "downsizing" from my Blade to something like a Phantom II so I could fly more efficiently, especially in flocks. The "T-Bird" might be the size/balance I'm looking for.

what was the worst canopy youve ever jumped?
Bones replied to caspar's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I started in 1978, tapered off, basically no jumps in the '90's, got back into it around 2001. Given the hiatus, I didn't feel right saying I've been in the sport for 30 years, so instead I use the number of years I've been a USPA member. I must admit, a wingsuit and a Spectre is a bit of an upgrade from the belly wart days. -

Worse ride/landing but happiest to see: Belly-mounted twill reserve without a PC or steering modifications of any kind. Hardest opening: Sierra ("high-performance" round) Then again, I jumped a 5-cell custom Strato-Flyer about 200 times. That thing was built like a tank but would crash in if the winds were anything less than 10 MPH. -
I'd like to say thanks but don't speak Swiss. Could you translate it for me?

Nerdspeak thread (registry/.dll/hd/trojan questions)
Bones replied to livendive's topic in The Bonfire
Not sure if this applies (hopefully not), but I picked up a trojan horse (tinyproxy.exe) from Facebook that affected my registry not allowing me to access the internet. The usual measures didn't work, so I eventually had to reinstall my OS. My computer guy recommended and installed trend micro virus software. I previously had MacAfee. -

Any chance Avery could put up his outside video from Saturday?

Sweet video! Thanks for putting it together Brian.

WOW. What a great weekend. Thanks, guys. I had originally been planning to head down to Eloy or Elsinore this month as a warm-up for Puerto Rico....until I saw this thread. Some of the most fun I've had wingsuiting so far. The in-air radios really cleaned up the transitions between points with short, useful phrases like: "complete", "make your move" and "everybody close on the homo".

I could use some air time before Puerto Rico and Skydive Oregon's completely shut down during January. 1) Is it better to fly into SF or Sacramento? 2) What's the address of the DZ? (so I can plug it into my Nav)
-
Bigger isn't necessarily better with wingsuit wings. In the picture you provided I wouldn't be surprised if the suit would be fairly slow vertically (but perhaps hard to control--think balancing on a beach ball) but its forward speed might take a big hit due to the excess drag.

I fly a Spectre 135 and 150 and recently demo'd the Storm 135. It's a great canopy, but you'll probably be running out your landings more with the Storm. Definitely try to demo them both. As you'll see from PD's site, the same size Spectre and Storm have different recommended wingloadings. Go to a POPS event you'll see a lot of Spectres. They're also popular with wingsuiters, mostly for their benign opening characteristics. One thing I've always liked about my Spectres is that they're fairly forgiving so I can fly them aggressively (lots of quick toggle turns, near stalls, etc.) but then land them conservatively.

I'm not clear what you meant by "did a 180".

What is your "must have" or "must do" for Christmas?

See post #4 above for help with "squirrel resistent bird feeders" -
Well color me surprised, I'm completely in my box!

Maybe more southeast...and pray for a good tailwind.

Thanks, the San Juan info is helpful, but unlike you guys I'm on the opposite side of the Country (Oregon) and I don't think there's a non-stop flight.
