Funny Zeemax, but the American fuel prices are at their highest level since the early 80s (adjusted for inflation). If we were making all this money on oil then why would our president be on the firing line about tapping into our reserve stocks? If you're position is that some companies are making money on the reconstruction.. than say so. That however is completely different than saying we are making money off of Iraq's oil.

This weekend I did altitude H&Ps on both days. It was a VERY nice day to end the weekend, and I'm finding I really enjoy flying my canopy relative to others. Not sure I want a lightning yet, but I sure do like that stilletto!!

Funny it seems to me the French thought the American Marines were pretty important at the time. 3 Croix de Guerre awards to our BNs and some of our units still wear the Forriege (spelling I know) that we earned because of that.

Devil's advocate for a minute here. Sometimes people say stupid shit when they realized they screwed up. Perhaps.. and this is just a perhaps. The McNasty saw the rig and swerved to run over it. B/C is was twilight he didnt' see the jumper and hit him. Realizing he had made a mistake, but not wanting to lose face he replied "Damn right...blah blah blah" Not taking sides. It really stinks that there are people who would be so upset about a jumper landing in their field. I truly hope the injured jumper (chad is it) gets well soon, and the truth comes out and everyone is properly compensated. Of course if he really did intentionally hit the skydiver... carpet bomb his ass!

Taking it a little far there guy. Even thought TX has a rightly deserved reputation of landowners protecting themselves and their property, as someone else has pionted out, during daylight hours you can't just go around shooting someone who is on your property without being threatened. When it's night time... well the landowner gets the benifit of the doubt. Either way, and case like that involving a death of a trespasser would undoubtedly end up in a court of law and the landowner tried by a jury of his peers, which, imho is what makes it the best system in the world. Not to mention, we tend to put to death people who unlawfully kill others in our state

More new info. Party on Saturday. In true TX form I am attempting to get a KEG of SHINER on Saturday. I should know tomorrow. Also more updates on the Road Trip. To Elkhorn I... sorry goose (shark)... we will pass through.. NV (Vegas anyone?), Utah via I70 so kind of a way from Salt Lake, but we could be convinced to detour, Colorado (right through Denver), all the way through NE. On the Road down to TX, Kansas (topeka and Witchita), OK Oklahoma City, and then back to the beautiful state of TX!!!! Depending on how things go we will stop in CS on Saturday, or we will simply drive straight to Austin and then Hit CS after Easter Sunday with my family (like monday or later during the week) If I can convince him I'll tell shark to stay through the following weekend and jump at SDA for a couple of days (after he helps me move in to the new house)

Ok guys here is the ineinerary so far. Las Vegas NV (Sunday night 4th) Elkhorn NE Wed some time probably. I haven't even looked at MapQuest yet, but I did just get off the phone with my uncle. I know this isn't straight to TX, but that was never the point. I haven't really received any replies outside of the normal peeps from Elsinore I love you guys, but maybe I'm not so popular outside of my little world Come on now. Who want's to see Fish and the Shark??? Oh... And COME ON PD... get those new canopies here early this week so that I can be jumping them this weekend with my new VIGIL (hopefully here tomorrow)

Ok, it's official. My resignation is complete on May 9th. I start terminal leave today. I'll post about my midway point, but end point is Austin TX, from Laguna Niguel, CA. I'll convince shark to leave Sunday after jumping and we'll spend the first night in Vegas. Anyone wishing to send me off, please be at Elsinore on Saturday as we will be leaving shortly after sundown on Sunday. Anyone who has a DZ that flies during the week along the route and would like to make a jump with Sharky and I let us know. Like I said... details on the Shark and Fisher Western US tour stops to follow.

Going the northern route. I need to see my aunt and uncle. Not sure what state, somewhere midwest I think I'll call them tonight or tomorrow and we'll start planning. Maybe we can hit some DZs and jump with some DZ.commers along the way. ROAD TRIP

We are not flying an aircraft turtle, nor would we want any authorities thinking we are. We are flying a wing, but not an aircraft. I think some people more knowledgable than me can shed some light on the differences here. We are much like hangliders and parasails, but nothing like gliders and aircraft that require licenses to fly and fall under VERY strict guidance by the FAA. We don't want to be lumped in there. Emergency yes, but aircraft emergency no.

Kinda depends on what you consider home I guess. We are living in Austin (where I grew up), but CS is home if you consider the friends and family I made there during my years at A&M and what is now SDA.

Bad news dude. I lost mine in my (well sharks) bonehead gunner this weekend on a tandem as well. Damn expensive skydive for 35 bucks! I really liked the neptune though so I replaced it on the spot. I'll call bonehead today about the helmet loss.

I'm heading over to the PERSO right now to get the last of my paperwork. I'll head from there to TMO to finish my moving stuff and then I'm outta here. I will be leaving for home (TX) 1 week from today. I'll be at SkyDive Aggieland with Gin on the 10th if everything goes as planned. If not, well, I'll drive up the week after easter. If I can con him into it for a free ride Mark (posts as Shark) will be with me as well.

Honest opinion... great gear. But for your first set... save the 550 and use it for jumps and coach jumps in the discipline you choose. Two choices early on unless you have unlimited funds (which you probably don't have since you are concerned about 550) Look good or fly good. I have been in the sport for about 6 years now, and I just (mid last year) bought my first new rig. I do however have an AFF and now a tandem rating. I think it is partly due to me wanting to fly better than I looked. Personal opinion. Milage may vary.
