Lately it seems like if someone posts an idea, a thought, an opinion or just wants to shoot the shit because they are bored they get bashed. What the fuck is that all about??? What happened to this being the board for people to do exactly that? Come on people, chill Perhaps we need a new board called "Anal people report here" and then we wont have to worry about it.....just a thought..

Actually just realized that the Chris i thanked isnt Chris but Kris Bagwell. Cruised some older threads and realized a ton of people know him. Guess so considering he has 13K+ jumps....All the older posts about him are right on target...he is an awesome instructor and totally put my wife at ease...thanks again Kris!!

All bets were against her actually doing it. She is deathly afraid of flying and paralyzed by her fear of heights (tried to explain that has nothing to do with skydiving)....She came through like a trooper....I think she is closer to understanding this manic obsession we are all inflicted with... yep, my wife made her first tandem this weekend.... Katrina, you are awesome btw - thanks to Chris and Dave for making her first jump so awesome!!

Yep, I agree, bikes and booze do not mix. I have been riding sportbikes for years and have never had a drop of alcohol when i was riding..however, it always surprises the hell out of me how many harley riders drink and ride and dont think twice about it.....its very rare to see sportbikes parked outside of a bar on a weekend night, but there always seems to be some harleys in the parking lot....

Sturgis no doubt....We dont drink during the daily activities, the crazy fuckers at Sturgis drink morning, noon and night....

However, if the general perception is good, it's easier to deal with the airports that most of us prefer to jump out of, and attract enough students to finance the turbine aircraft most of us prefer to jump out of, and finance the expensive new equipment that most of us prefer as well. It's easier to believe that a problem with a respectable looking enterprise is an anomaly or something; when it looks shaky, you might be more likely to sue to put the bastards out of business. Of course, then it would suck to be the up-jumpers. That said, how many people reading this thread think "Proof" (which is the original version of the skydiving scene in "Fandango") is a riot? If people are concerned about how we are portrayed in the media then perhaps those people should become a little more active with public awareness instead of sitting around on an internet chat board bitching about it.......but oh wait, that might mean forming a group to get the message across, and that might offend some skydivers who dont want to be represented as a whole, oops...never mind, ignore my suggestion

thats my point...who cares how people perceive the sport. If they want to do it then great, if they dont want to do it based on media attention then screw 'em, its their choice... The media will never change...no point in bitching about it....

Who cares what other people think? who cares how the media portrays us? Who cares if someone wants to start a freakin club called Skydivers against or for whatever??? Why are we so serious about this??? Unless any of this crap will ever affect my ability to jump out of an airplane every weekend i could care less. I am sure that there will be those that will say that if our sport gets a bad name due to any of this crap that somehow or another we wont be jumping anymore....sorry i just dont buy it.... Maybe people just need to lighten up??

This weekend it was Grey Goose Vodka...my god it tasted sooooo good saturday night. But i'll tell you what, come Sunday morning i was praying to the gods to end my life...i have never hurt so bad...you know you are in trouble when you cant even take a sip of water without vomiting the second you swallow....no more vodka for a very very long time!!! Anyone want half a bottle of Grey goose? Good stuff, I promise I think this incident has put Vodka on my "no longer drink list"

After reading a couple of posts recently (the fight one, and one in incidents) it got me thinking...is the reduction in drag really worth having a collapsable pilot chute? And is there really that much of a reduction in drag by collapsing the pilot chute to make it worth it? Besides the chute just wearing out over time, it seems like going with a non-collapsable pc could remove one very serious mal (pc in tow, due to uncocked pc) from the skydiving equation.... My thoughts are that (at least) I wouldnt even notice the difference under canopy if my pc didnt collapse, perhaps a crazy ass swooper would, but i dont think i would.... thoughts???

Am i missing something? What is the big deal here? From what I am reading somebody (a student) fell asleep and when he was woken up he threw out his pilot chute...ok, so? Yes, that is erratic behavior, but unless the door was open what is the big deal? I would think his jm's would have dealt with the situation appropriately. Now if he popped his reserve that would be a different story... Why must the entire community know who this person is? Unless he has narcolepsy (sp?) i dont see the need to alarm the entire skydiving world??? unless there are a number of facts missing this just isnt making any sense...

I'm sure most of you know what I am talking about. That sinking feeling that for some reason your leg straps are gonna come undone while under canopy, or your canopy is gonna collapse, or maybe just maybe your chest strap is gonna come undone at pull time and for some reason it just isnt gonna keep you secure....etc... Basically that creepy feeling that your gear just isnt gonna do what it is supposed to do and it causes all kinds of freakish things to run through your mind....

Little known band called Dial 7 is awesome...they provide alot of the songs for Good Stuff..only place I have ever found the CD is Amazon or ebay....
