Question on using Maunal settings for stills
vdschoor replied to freefalle's topic in Photography and Video
I have been using the Tv mode on the camera for a long time, and occasionally the camera chooses an aperture that I would not agree with, so lately I started shooting more in manual mode. What this buys you is consistent exposures, and you are in full control of the exposure. I use manual focus, so I rely on the depth of field (determined by the aperture) a lot, when the camera chooses a really high aperture all of a sudden (goes from F8 to F4 or something) the depth of field of my picture is heavily impacted.. That's why I started doing Manual mode more.. It's all a preference, like I said.. Tv has worked great for me as well.. there was just the occasional shot that I didnt like... Iwan -
Seriously, go with fixed lenses in freefall, you will be so much happier! Nine out of ten times, the fixed lenses are lighter, smaller and of higher optical quality than zoom lenses.. Iwan

Thanks Eric!! That's the answer I wanted to hear.. Mine will be soldered anyways, since I made a special connection on my helmet for the remote, I'll show you in a couple of weeks Basically I have my tongue switch wired up to a RCA jack, and the remote part that goes to the camera has an RCA plug at the other end. That way I can easily change between remotes (since my film body still needs the 2.5mm plug) and my helmet doesn't have all sorts of wiring taped to it and looks all nice and clean... Iwan

All, I was wondering what you did to wire up your Canon 10D or 20D cameras for the tongue-switch. I just noticed these on eBay : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50489&item=7509502326&rd=1 and they are non-Canon remote switches for 15 bucks.. that's a big difference in having to cut a 60 dollar remote to pieces or a 15 dollar one.. Any experiences with these from anyone? (um.. yeah I broke down and got myself a 20D as an upgrade to the Digital Rebel)

Allright.. since the original weekend we planned didn't work out.. Eugene, Craig and myself are going to be in Elsinore this weekend FOR SURE!! Who else is going to be there?

How did that go? How many competitors did you guys have? Ours was this weekend as well and I had tons of fun competing in it. It went pretty well.. I got a pretty good feeling out of it. Had a vertical on 2 jumps (one on the first speed, and one on the 2nd zone accuracy jump) and scored pretty well on the other jumps for jumping a Sabre2. All the other competitors were flying VXs or Velocities, and I managed to whoop someone's ass on one of the speed rounds (had a 4.5 sec. speed round) There were 9 competitors in this competition.. and I finished last because of my verticals But.. I'm really happy with the end results though..

That was intentional.. I had a shoelace malfunction so he figured he'd leave that out of the picture since it would be distracting Number of jumps on these shoes? Shoe loading? Yes, Lisa does rock! Number of jumps is only in the low 30s, but it might have been packing technique that caused the malfunction. They're loaded at about 22 to 1 or so with gear.. but that shouldn't be a problem in freefall, I could see that being a problem walking on them, but they do that just fine.. I'll have to jump them some more and find out what's wrong with them..

Are you OK? Ha ha.. um.. yeah just fine, it was just that my shoelaces were flopping around and it was distracting Since Bonnie was making fun of her husband, I wanted to flatter him on his mad photography skillz.. that way he is all nice and humble again this weekend She has some other husband than Matthias? She's resourceful, that Bonnie. huh?
