  1. I read up on her and this seems to be her central thesis: White Fragility is a state in which even a minimal challenge to the white position becomes intolerable, triggering a range of defensive moves including: argumentation, invalidation, silence, withdrawal and claims of being attacked and misunderstood. These moves function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and maintain control. You gave an excellent example of that very state above. Yep, you're the victim; you are being attacked. AND you're gonna run people over because of that. I don't think the argument "his name sounds like the name of a regular guy, but he's black" helps your position.
  2. Why would you take out prison violence? Right wing criminals killing people in prison doesn't count because the victims are . . . not people? Because it's less likely to affect you personally?
  3. Did you hear about the murders of Melissa Hortman, Mark Hortman, and Heather Heyer? Did you hear about Jan 6th? The Antioch school shooting? The Covenant school shooting? That's what the policies of your side produce.
  4. Can't wait to see your meltdown when the next democratic administration declares the NRA a terrorist organization, and cancels FOX News.
  5. From PNAS: (Does not include Jan 6) A comparison of political violence by left-wing, right-wing, andIslamist extremists in the United States and the world "In this research we address these gaps by comparing the use of political violence by left-wing, right-wing, and Islamist extremists in the United States and worldwide using two unique datasets that cover real-world examples of politically motivated, violent behaviors. Across both datasets, we find that radical acts perpetrated by individuals associated with left-wing causes are less likely to be violent. In the United States, we find no difference between the level of violence perpetrated by right-wing and Islamist extremists." "Our sample from the PIRUS data consisted of 1,563 individuals with a history of involvement in domestic extremist activities identified as affiliated with either a left-wing, right-wing, or Islamist ideological milieu. We included individuals whose public exposure occurred between 1948 and 2018. . . .The dataset coded as violent cases where there was strong evidence that individuals were conspiring to kill or injure even if they failed to do so." https://www.start.umd.edu/publication/comparison-political-violence-left-wing-right-wing-and-islamist-extremists-united
  6. Yep. It includes ALL right wing extremist killings. That's what we were comparing, right? Right wing extremist violence vs left wing extremist violence? The right has both more incidents and more total killings.
  7. I made that mistake early in my flying career. Fortunately I learned from it.
  8. So it would be better to hire the Marine, all things considered, because of a more diverse set of experiences from his military flight experience. Over a straight white guy who is related to the chief pilot. How very DEI of you.
  9. Three people come to mind for that. The first was Stacey Markus. Beautiful black woman. She was one of my flight instructors when I got my private. One day we were doing the first (supervised) cross country. Did a short field takeoff, but when I retracted flaps, one came up and the other one didn't. Wasn't a huge problem (I could correct with ailerons) but it really worried Stacey and she got indecisive. "Should I cycle them?" "No! Don't do anything that could make it worse!" "Should we declare an emergency?" "No!" "Should we - uh - just continue with the cross country?" (seemed like a bad idea) "No!" "OK, I'm going to - uh - clear the ATA and then come back in and land." "OK" she said. "Don't touch the flaps!" We came back in to land. Out of habit I dropped the flaps. They both came down. We landed. She didn't say anything; just walked back to the FBO. I tied the plane down and then we talked about the flight. She seemed shaken. About a month later I heard she got a job with US Air. "Affirmative action!" I declared. "She panicked over a minor problem while I was cool and collected! She's a terrible pilot!" The second was Harry Rosenblatt. He was our pilot at Skydive Long Island. Seemed like a good pilot; got to know him pretty well. White straight male so no DEI there! But a little nervous; Ray the irate DZO could really rattle him. One day he lost power on the climbout. He entered the downwind; at that point he was pointed at a 600 acre sod farm. He tried to make it back to the runway anyway. He managed to hit it, but in the impact he died, the JM was paralyzed and all three students were injured. I was with him for half an hour while he slowly died of massive head injuries. Third was Will Forshay. Got to know him through his wife. He was flying jumpers somewhere and we would talk about flying; he'd complain about the cheapskate DZs who were always pushing him to ignore issues with the airplane. Also a white straight guy. Not the best pilot perhaps but decent enough. In 2003 he had moved on to cargo, and was flying a Falcon DA-20 into Toledo. He forgot to turn on the anti-ice, let his speed get too low, stalled and spun in. All three on board were killed. I checked in on Stacey a while back. She's retired after flying 757's for 13 years for UPS. Who would you rather be in the cockpit with?
  10. To white straight cis men like Winsor.
  11. Because he knows that white males never benefit from any aspect of society. They are the downtrodden, and thus if they succeed, it is entirely upon their own merit. Unlike, say, women or gays or brown people or black people or Muslims or trans people, who have had only benefits from society. It is also interesting that Winsor claims he is wildly indifferent to a person's background when it comes to value judgments about their intelligence or abilities. But has also stated that trans people are mentally ill and that Muslims are nuts because they worship a pedophile. (Which is even more ironic today.)
  12. OK. What is her position on this, and what do you disagree with about it? No music videos please. 1) I don't think loans should be forgiven. I prefer a government program that transitions them into a zero, or almost zero, interest loan. That way the government still gets their money back and the debtors have an easier time paying them back. 2) Your definition of a useless degree is probably different than mine. Andy Warhol got a degree in art. So did Georgia O'Keeffe. Dale Chihuly got a degree in interior design art. Carl Sagan got a Bachelor of Liberal Arts from Chicago University. Madeleine Albright - political science degree. Michael Eisener got a degree in English and then became CEO of Disney for 30 years. I'd argue none of those people were "useless" or considered their degrees useless. ASWM? The Association for the Study of Women and Mythology? They'd make a very, very small list. Or the misspelling of SWM, per your question about DEI? In that case it would make quite a long list, since DEI covers veterans, the disabled, the poor and recent immigrants who don't have access to education.
  13. One of your many, many misconceptions is that DEI means "whites should feel guilty." You can of course feel guilty if you want. But that's up to you, and has nothing to do with DEI, CRT, black people, redlining, slavery or any other hot button issue you want to do some revisionist history on. Well, let's see - JD Vance got into college on a DEI program. Stephen Hawking was able to contribute massively to astrophysics through DEI accommodations - and he started out as an able bodied SWM. Joel Dillon, a 20 year Army veteran, was hired by Amazon under a DEI program. They funded his retraining because they valued his leadership experience. While at Qualcomm I worked with Matt, an engineer, who was blind. DEI got him the sort of tactile keyboards, T2V and tactile displays he needed to be an effective engineer (which he was.) Nothing wrong with the rest of his body, Nope - since white straight men benefit from it too. Even our very own vice president. Outright discrimination would be telling Border Patrol and the National Guard they can target people based on their skin color.
  14. Questions like this are sadly very common. "Melissa Hortman? Who's that?" "Someone attacked Nancy Pelosi's husband? And Charlie Kirk mocked him for it? I never heard that!" "No one ever tried to kill any democrats!"
