    What freaks me out is not the ride up, but it's the last minute rush (the jump run I think it's called) when my instructors have me put on my goggles, etc. and the door slides open. I always feel rushed. I'm like whoa, wait...is my gear on ok...am I really ready?? But anyway, I've been in lotsa planes and any plane ride with a parachute on the back seems better than one without. Going over the jump in my mind seems much more important than worrying about the plane crashing anyway.     Creepy timing for me. This time of year in So Cal the giant garden spiders come out. This morning I ran in to a new tenant's web on the way out. After doing the spiderweb dance and being left traumatized for the rest of the day, the beast was waiting for me when I came home... I'll have to get a picture of him. It's one of the biggest I've seen... I pulled down his web, but I'm sure he'll make a new one tonight...     I'm sure that weird skydiving dreams must be common for us skydivers. I've jumped 4 times, and after my 3rd I had a dream that I was over a huge grid of high-wires . There was no way to not land near them or on them. I think this has partly to do with my concerns about canopy control (my skinny arms really have to muscle it to flare) and partly just a general stress dream about school. I'm sure if you think about your dream Tricky, you'll figure out what it means for you.     It seems that is the very point, though. She was correct. African-American technically would imply that someone came from Africa, not necessarily that they are black. A black person might have come from another part of the world, so naming all black Americans AA wasn't right to begin with, neither is Native American for American Indians because anyone born in the US is a Native American. After I landed I couldn't remember if I had counted to six as my parachute was opening. It was a learning experience: I realized later how I must be super-conscious of that and everything else I need to do. There was so much sensory overload the first time. When the chute was open and after I did my check, I was like this is so awesome that for nearly a minute (maybe) I forgot to head for the triangle (my DZ landing area). With each time you'll have less overload and have more confidence.     Geez, the JMs at my DZ aren't like that whatsoever. They are cool, friendly, and funny, and maybe a JM might be somewhat flirty, but never inappropriate. Frankly, if an instructor is tightening the chest and leg straps, getting close to the "danger zones" is inevitable, and there's no problem with that. But I guess if they were saying, "hey, nice tits" in the process that would be another story!     Thanks for the link to the video. I've only jumped a few times, but it's clear to me that he pulled his cutaway instead of his pilot chute, he never even tried to arch to get stable, and the narrator said that landing in the power lines is unlucky.     Geez, don't feel bad. The finger thing wasn't so bad, but this shadow thing is absolutely insane. You go over the landing procedure so many times before you jump. I can't imagine the stupidity involved in that one. Her shadow??     I just completed by level 3 last Saturday. One question... why exactly are you tumbling (or, not as much)? My experience has been that you simply step out of the plane and become belly stable fairly quickly. Anyway, good luck on the re-do.     I can claim 5 off the list. I can't believe Vegas Casinos is all the way down at 48! I think the flight over a volcano was similarly frightening (beforehand) to my first skydive, and almost as cool. As much as I've been bitten by skydiving, I have no desire to try bungie jumping (well, as of yet), and I'll probably die not having swam with the sharks!     I just went through the same craziness before doing level 2. I thought, ok, I've proved I can do this, but to keep jumping is crazy. I was more scared than for AFF1, but as the plane climbed to altitude, I found I was a little more excited than I was scared, and it turned out my level 2 jump and landing were great, and I can't wait for 3. Learning the new maneuvers is cool. You have more confidence with every jump. You'll do great.     Thanks for the support everyone. I did my level 2 today, and it was a great skydive! I had some fears in the preceding days, but during the flight up and jumping out I was fine (I didn't feel as much of that odd panic about being at 11,000ft and just starting to put on the goggles, helmet, etc). I also had set some personal goals for myself, one of which was to not again land off target on my butt!... and I was successful, landing on target, on my feet! I loved the forward movement that was added on to the freefall and can't wait to learn more maneuvers.

    While I like a variety of music, I am nearly all about the 80s, with my favorite band being Tears for Fears. While it may be shameful to admit I've been a fan for nearly 20 years , they are coming out with a new album 11/11 so I'm not living in the past, completely .
