Hmm, in the photos in the auction they have a closeup of Vin's face on the falling car. How did they manage that? Photochop? It looks like a vid grab to me... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

low timers on high perf wingsuits big deal or no
The111 replied to ramon's topic in Wing Suit Flying
i have a classic 1. i've only put about 30 jumps on it since i bought it new in 99. i've only wore a Pro-Track a few times. The last time it said 54mph. Looking at the WL in your profile you appear very light. :) I have only 1 jump on a classic, my 1st WS jump, and I averaged 66mph. I haven't improved on that too much (high 50's) with my GTI, but I've been jumping it VERY uncurrently... :( www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
This is not advice, but I have managed to grab my risers WITH the wings zipped up. Only works if you grab before full inflation. You're sort of cheating by half-grabbing the mudflaps. BUT I think this is a horrible idea and the times I did it, it was probably responsible for the twists I got (I was actually able to get out of the twists without undoing the wings but again I was holding my mudflaps like a retard). My first few jumps were actually the best deployments I ever had and for some reason on those I was very relaxed and just let myself be a ragdoll. Then I started thinking too hard and trying to do too much with my arms. I can sympathize with your fear of pull time because I sort of have it now, and it has made some of my recent deployments not too pretty, the worst one being a terrifying dropped hackey. :( I've never had a slammer though. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I was serious, but I guess I was picturing my skydiving gear bag, gigantic, with 30lbs worth of gear in it. When I show up to the DZ carrying it, people ask if it's got a body in it. There's no way I could jump with that. :) So I wasn't sure if a BASE "stash bag" was able to be stashed itself while jumping. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

What happened to the stash bag?? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Ok, something is confusing me here. I've read all the posts about striking the leg wing and not the legs themselves. For something to hit the wing, but not the legs, wouldn't it have to go between the legs? I'm not too familiar with the S3, but it does looks like the wing extends a tiny bit past the feet when inflated, so I guess in theory that could catch, but based on the look of the tear in tailplane.jpg, something went between the legs. For that to happen, the jumper's body would have to be parallel to the tail of the plane. I.e., the tail would have to be vertical (which it's not), or the jumper would have to be horizontal (which it doesn't seem like he was). Can anyone make any sense of this? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Yeh, I use "replace" all the time for various things. Get your space bar fixed please. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

My mom's trying to get me to go stay with her and her sister in Sarasota. But you're implying it's expected to hit there too? I guess not as bad as Orlando... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Dude, giving bad advice is not funny. You pull your MAIN, so you still have another shot if it doesn't work right. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Sounds like a fun job - sign me up! Seriously, can you explain why you were hanging upside down with a weapon? I'm conjuring up some crazy images but I'm still not sure exactly what you mean... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

almost exactly same thing I think it's a major difference that in the post you linked to, the guy had his hand stuck inside the door which seems like it could easily break something. This guy is saying it was his hand that was grabbing the other guy's gripper. It seems odd to me that you could hold onto a gripper tight enough to break a finger. What is a Pillock? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

"Overlooked." Suuure. Nice excuse to make when your post bombs. Sign me up for some of those clothes for my fat cat though... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Depends, was the question asked by a human or a starfish? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I have observed that Steve is the master of off-topic posts. Shame on him. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Heh, that's the truth and I'm glad someone else pointed it out. As far as experience that *could* help out with landing a Mr. Bill - you could do a Mr. Bill from altitude, and every 1000ft "simulate" your landing pattern and the landing flare. Then when it finally comes time for the moment of truth, the "hangee" is used to hanging on for a 1000ft pattern, and the associated turns and flares. Just hope for no really bad turbulence! :) Or you could wear a BASE rig in case you fall off at 600 ft. The actual landing (timing of dismount, etc) could not be practiced though. Unless you find a cloud to land on. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Been out of the sport. Now what??
The111 replied to novacaine's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My personal experience. In 1999, I graduated high school. I got a job at the DZ, and over the course of 3 months made 23 jumps (8 AFF + 15 solo). Then I went to college for 4 years and quit jumping. Literally the DAY after my graduation ceremony (and with job offer received so I was free to blow $$$ -
Is it agreed that if you somehow can't get out of the spin, you should cutaway the wings? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Probably stating the obvious, but if you're practicing in the water, and pushing your limits (or don't know them very well), don't do it alone. The only time I REALLY push my limits is on *dry* statics and I've still never experienced blackout or LMC (loss of motor control). I dive alone well within my established limits, and if I'm lucky enough to have a buddy with me, I'll go a bit further. A good way to increase your static time is to practice the static tables mentioned here. The forum I linked to there is also a great info source for freediving, sort of on par with DZ.com. :) Although it has been debated how much of a link there is between static performance and real bottom times. The best freediver I know (3:00+ dives to 100+ ft) hates statics and hasn't ever done them and doubts he could do more than a few minutes. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

To the best of my understanding, regular smoking does not have a significant effect on anaerobic sports (freediving, weightlifting, sprinting, etc). I've heard that many freediving record holders have been regular smokers. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Reviving an ancient post... I've been getting into freediving a lot lately so I did a search to see if it had ever been discussed on here. A few weeks ago I did 4:00 static (not moving). The world record (men) is 8:47! www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Yes, that's actually all I've seen, so until you posted this, I'm thinking, rapide link on bridle attachment, wtf are these people talking about? Agreed again. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Nice! What's the longest anyone's ever done? How high was that? I'm guessing around 22k? Or was it 30k? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Yeh, Chuck and Scott must not know anything about WS flight for Jari to make them BMCI's. Hell, for that matter, what does Jari know about wingsuits? He's just using his position as president of a popular wingsuit company to make himself look like an authority on the matter. I'll bet he doesn't even jump. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
