I know I read about this on here before, but I can't seem to find it now. In Parachutist I think there was an article about how too many skydivers in general are unprepared for emergency exits. I have to admit I might fall into this category. Without the WS on I'm not too worried about it (which maybe is still a bad thing). But now that I am jumping the WS almost exclusively, I am starting to think about it more. I do not zip legs until 10k and arms until about 12k. If I exited the plane with everything unzipped and just dumped, what would be the worst case scenario? Suit flapping causing instability? Canopy entanglement with flapping suit? I've never had an emergency exit in general and I'm sure the first time it happens, it will be even more stressful if I'm sitting in an unzipped suit. I seem to remember when I read about this before the safest suggestion was to zip up early. And I know convenience should never come before safety, but to be honest, I do not want to sit on a plane all zipped up for 10 minutes. Hell, I watch (very) experienced non-WS jumpers sit on the plane (right next to the door even) and not even tighten their leg straps until 10k feet. I would never do this, but how are they any more prepared for an unexpected exit than an unzipped WS? Curious what the thoughts on this are... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Yeh, that's what I figured... I was a bit more worried about forward speed (I can almost match S3 fall rates anyway), but I guess that's not a big concern... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I am pretty sure I am going to go to the DZ.com boogie in Eloy. I'm guessing there will be some nice opportunities for flocking there. Since I probably will not jump anything but my suit for the next 2 months, I will suck at every other kind of jumping by then (not that I'm great now). Will my GTI be sufficient for all the flock jumps? Do they ever make fast flocks that require S3's? I'm pretty sure the GTI is a great flocking suit, just trying to make extra sure I'll be able to flock in Eloy if I go. :) I might order and S3 soon regardless, but doubt I would have it by then. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I couldn't get your link to work, but watch THIS one. This is the one I was referring to, it was just brought up again in the Bonfire under a thread called PLF. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

DZ's along east coast of FL near Boca Raton?
The111 replied to The111's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Any? Will be in Boca this weekend and thought it would be nice to make a jump on the coast. The only ones I can think of are Sebastian and Miami, neither particularly close to Boca. EDIT: Ok, I realize Miami isn't *that* far. I'm just lazy and wondered if there was anything closer. :) www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
Hog Flop is cool. A few weeks ago at DeLand I was on an RW jump with this guy that I knew I recognized but couldn't figure out why. I finally realized he was on my Hog Flop team last year! :) I will be at this next one for sure. Will be up for WS jumping too if there's any flocking going on. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Yeh, I made a few jumps there a long time ago with my GTI when I was still figuring it out and could fly to the river or so, and back. I could probably fly further now, but I really am starting to want an S3. Will take a few months to get though and I'm wondering if I should just wait for Phoenix-Fly. I will be there next weekend though! I docked with Jari at DeLand this weekend and that was by far my coolest jump ever. :) www.WingsuitPhotos.com

This is on their calendar... is it still going on? If so, who's going?! :) www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Everybody keeps saying you don't know how messed up you are when you get hypoxic. I could be speaking out of my ass, since I've never done one of the chambers, but on my first jump from 22k, for the first 30 seconds I felt like my motor control SUCKED... I was doing RW and could barely even change heading. I just felt frozen and rubbery at the same time. So if that was hypoxia I was definitely aware of it... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I saw that a long time ago after a thread in Bonfire. They were showing a video called "Street Climb", I think file was called monkey.wmv, still may be floating around the web somewhere. Anyway it was a 3 minute video of these guys doing the sport called "Le Parkour". It was amazing and they were all hailed as PLF masters. I started searching around the web for more videos and found the one you posted. Very cool stuff. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I've had nylon crack on the mind a lot lately and had a bunch of stupid little questions I wanted to make posts about, but I don't wanna flood the forum with multiple threads, so I'll put em in here. Answer any and all if you feel like it. :) 1. Maxing out - head position. Based on what I learned from a tracking dive this weekend, there is a HUGE performance difference between head "up" (looking at horizon, along line of flight) and head "down" (looking at ground/between feet, perpendicular to line of flight). The "down" position gives much better fall rates (for tracking at least). Is this true for BM too? I just now realized that on all my WS solos I've been head up, so maybe I can lower my avg speed another 5mph if I drop my head? 2. Are anyone else's Pro-Track graphs spiky? I felt some of my flights were pretty solid, with avgs in the low 50's, but when I looked at the graph it was alternating between 40 and 60mph spikes. I'm guessing this is an inaccuracy or a result of what I was doing with my head, where the device was located (in helmet). 3. A *very* experienced skydiver this weekend told me he thinks the S3 is easier to fly than the GTI, and he would put a student up in it. Anyone agree with this? I've got about 30 GTI jumps and don't feel quite ready for the S3 yet... 4. I overheard a comment that the Sugar Glider can get 4 minutes from 13.5k. Is this accurate? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Finally broke 119sec in my GTI. Did it twice in a row, probably just by a few seconds. Need a Neptune now! :) Exit 13500, deploy around 4500 (seated at 4). Best avg = 53mph, but have averaged 51mph for half of dive so I know I can do better. 5'11", 155lb. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

That's about 31mph, in a Classic. I hate to sound skeptical, but that sounds almost too good to be true. I know very skinny guys in S3's who can't come close to that. What is your technique? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

My BMI never had me sign a waiver. I never even knew there was one. That's it, I'm suing. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

"Snivelling at 4000 Feet": A Friend's First Jump Essay
The111 replied to craichead's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I know what other people at the DZ do for a living. And I've been asked myself many times... But good article otherwise. :) www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
I'm not sure I understand exactly what was going on. You were falling vertically, slow, with your camera wings and they were flying their suits around you? Or something else? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Me me. And I'm doing nothing but WS jumps until then to build my skills. :) www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I tried so hard to read Dune. I was on a sci-fi kick having just finished Ender's Game and Time Enough For Love (both based on recommendations in this forum). But I simply could not get very far, I got bogged down by all the foreign "words" and names and political structures... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Music - I can't believe no one has mentioned Soulseek yet. I am not a huge fan of P2P in general, but Soulseek is the best there is. I actually use it so much it pretty much makes me a hyprocrite when I say I don't like P2P. Slsk.org I believe... I also get full albums off of IRC a lot. IRC can be a pain in the ass to use and I never used it until I found XDCC Catcher (xdcccatcher.com I believe), an interface that makes searching IRC networks for files as easy as using a P2P program. You just have to wait an hour or so after starting Catcher to let it connect to all the thousands of servers. IRC is also great for software, movies, anything. Usenet is another good source for EVERYTHING (music, movies, games, apps) but is not user friendly by any means. I've used it for so much stuff over the years it's not even funny. Edonkey, torrents, etc... they all work. But I don't prefer them as much as what I've listed. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Shit man, I'm in Orlando and it's still calm here. Apparently it's not where you are... which means it's not far off here. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Heh, not knowing a thing about wingsuit design, I'm not sure if that question is absurd or very smart. It is interesting though. I'm sure WS makers have thought of it before but I know I hadn't, and this is the first mention I've heard of it... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

When I jump a WS out of a plane, I do not zip the arms and legs up until right before exit. With them unzipped you have full range of motion. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
