As the the altitude of my stowed jumps is creeping lower and lower, I'm starting to wonder what other people are comfortable with. Where have others drawn the line of what height they will no longer stow their pilot chute and choose to go hand-held instead. This is regardless of pilot chute size, as long as it's stowed it counts. I'm pretty sure my limit is going to be 300', I've worked down to 330' with plenty of canopy time so I think 300' is a good, safe number. Where have you drawn the line?.........

I'm giving this post about 2 more days to come up with something before I head to another major manufacturer or a local master rigger. So whats up, they go out of business or something??

Thanks man. Also, tell all your bro's out there in SLC thanks for the sweet jumps (specificially JT). I have never visited another area where the local population and jumpers alike have been so friendly and the hospitality so great. Plus, you have some sweet sites out there right in your backyard. I definitely plan on coming out and visiting again......

Anyone have any info for how to get ahold of paratech rigging. Their website expired and the phone number doesn't work. I need to know because I have one of their containers and I'm trying to get the harness modified (shorten main lift web). If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks

I will be in the Salt Lake area for about a week learning how to paraglide before hitting up the turkey boggie the following week. I'll be in town for a while and it would be great to link up with some of the BASE crew. Give me a ring, I'm flying out there tomorrow and will be staying in downtown salt lake. neil 910-988-9238 p.s. There may be some specialty jumps involved (hangglider/paraglider).

Can anyone provide any specifics, like names? This better not be another "amateur base jumper takes buddy for his first base" incident. Especially if it involves burning objects in my backyard. This wasn't off a certain 1,000 ft. A not far from the dropzone was it? I have an idea who was involved but me being on the other side of the world right now makes it kind of hard to investigate. Thanks to whomever for all the great publicity....

Just curious if anyone out there has been using two static lines for sub 200ft SL jumps. I was thinking that maybe using one shorter then the other would ensure no sort of premature breakage could occur. I know there are those of you out there that do this sort of thing often so I thought I'd ask your opinion before working my way down from 200ft. See ya

longer risers effects on performance
dhracer33 replied to dhracer33's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I was just wondering what the different effects longer risers have on a canopy. Possibly thinking about changing mine and wanted to get some info on it first. I am just getting into the different aspects of high performance canopy flight and am trying to gather as much information as possible. -
"I think the 5 miles away run also reinforced the 'if you can't really see the ground and where you want to go, maybe you shouldn't be getting out.' Doubly so for a birdman jump." I totally agree, I wouldn't recomend to anyone doing a BM jump when you can't see the ground. However, when looking out the back of the casa and seeing cumulous clouds shooting up from 4K, it's kind of hard to say no. Probably not the best mentality, but there are TONS of outs in the surrounding area. Espicially with 4K ft to find one. Plus, there is something fun to landing in someones backyard and hitch hiking back to the DZ Just for the record, probably won't do that again but definatly do not regret it.
