This Boogie was definitely one of my best Wingsuit weeks ever! Nice and friendly people, nice Dropzone, beautiful flights, delicious food and top load organizing and coaching from Stephane Zunino! Thanks to all the helpful people from the Dropzone and specially to the organizers Pat and Nabil! Hopefully you organize this event next year too! Sitting now in front of my computer back at work - but still dreaming of flying over the Atlas moutains

Hi Chris, I don't know you personally, but may be we met last weekend at this DZ. I think I know the person you are talking about - I borrowed him my PF Tracking suit. He told me that he ordered directly a Phantom. My advice was that he should start with Tracking Pants first, then with the Prodigy and after flying the Prodigy stable then the Phantom. I don't know what he told Stane to get the Phantom... So my advice: there are some instructors around which take it seriously to learn you wingsuit flying - use this chance! On Saturday I was the only Wingsuit flyer there, on Sunday I was flying with Urs - his first WS flight. I know him well and he has more than the recommended jump numbers - so that couldn't be what you described, or (maybe) it was another DZ... I can offer you my full support to get into this sport - but please take it seriously! Cordially, Herwig "Most people would rather die than think; in fact, they do so" Bertrand Russell

Jarno, I agree. Luckily I have done a few flights with Loic, he impressed me not only as a flyer but also for his kindness. All the best to him and his family! Cordially, Herwig

New toys??? I want to play with new toys too!!!! Herwig (Will be sitting in the cold then...)

I have now 50+ flights with the ProFly, and I like it very much. For the grippers: I personally like them as they are, the position is fine. I just want to see swoop cords like on the Phoenix-Fly suits... Flapping of Legwing: may occur, if I fly "dirty" or not the S-Fly style. Speed: my "trim speed" with the V2 is between 180 and 200 km/h, with the ProFly between 160 and 180 km/h So the ProFly is definitely slower than the V2, with around the same glide ratio for me... The arm position is less tiring than with other suits, for me a benefit. I had a few hundred flights in Birdman and Phoenix-Fly suits before I tried a Monowing. I had to learn that you have to change your flying style to fly the S-Fly suits properly. Best is to get some coaching from Loic or Zun - now I know why Loic call his company "Fly your body" So what is the resume? Some things may reflect your preferred flying style or your body type. I personally have 12 suits for my size from different manufacturers, and to be honest: I like all of them! I am sure in near future we will see some nice new wingsuits from all brands, so everybody can be satisfied with his demands... But it is nice that we still fly together, as in Zell am See! Cordially, Herwig

Just ordered the DVD "Seven Sunny Days" From the flyyourbody website! Cordially, Herwig

The problem for me is: how can you compare and measure an item fairly? - time depends on weight - speed depends on weight so distance seems a good point for me! Relative work? Points per time or altitude range? Acrobatics: may be too early to judge... Or should I stay away from competitions with the excuse "I do it just for fun!" So let us see what the future brings... Cordially, Herwig

I know I am not the most experienced flocker, but flocking with Loic and Zune is always an experience Best regards, Herwig

I had last weekend 15 jumps on my ProFly, but "only" flocking. The ProFly is a very good suit, definitely a big improvement over the S-Fly Expert. For me it is easy to fly (ok, maybe not for beginners!), the arm position is very natural compared to other suits. For flocking it is the best suit I have flown so far! I was very soon comfortable with this suit and we have done some of the closest flocks so far - high range but easy to control, properties I enjoy! The added fabric gives you more speed and longer flights, pulling is no problem, easier as in a Vampire (I never had problems on a Vampire too!) For performance I have to take more measurements in the next weeks, first impressions are that it is a high end suit, comparable to Vampire and Blade (maybe not for speed compared to V2) I am too very happy with the suit and can definitely recommend it! There are also some little improvements on the suit to make the handling more comfortable. For people who have only flown the Expert and some other suits: definitely try to make a test flight on the ProFly if this will be possible somewhere near you - congratulations to Loic and Zune for this suit! Cordially, Herwig

Hmmm - they release the new suit in August... I got the Expert in one week after ordering - so Flyyourbody delivers pretty fast. I had never problems with other manufacturers, even if it takes longer: I got all my suits in the time promised. This seems to be not usual in skydiving (waited 7 months for my rig! ) So I am still happy with all the Wingsuit Manufacturers
-
I too saw the ProFly in Gap and ordered one without being able to fly it before (Demo was only M size -> too small for me). I was told to get my suit in August, so maybe a little bit more than two weeks Waiting for a new suit is always hard... Cordially, Herwig

Sorry, bad news... Stefan "Obi" Oberländer was killed on Teneriffa during a Jump (?) at April 23th. I think it was during Speedflying, but I have no info yet. http://www.palatinum.info/index.shtm http://actualidad.terra.es/sucesos/articulo/muere_hierro_parapentista_aleman_sufrio_1529925.htm His Homepage: http://www.oberlander.biz Condolence to family and friends. Hmmm.... Hard to believe that this may work with soft wings... An other way may be Jet-Flaps, as already used at Paragliders See: http://www.skywalk.info/Content/82/?mnid=242 Cordially, Herwig P.S.: I am NOT an expert in Aerodynamics!

Watched it many times - strongly recommended

Volaticotherium antiquus—"ancient gliding beast"
redfox replied to redfox's topic in Wing Suit Flying
May be just a little bit off-topic, or... maybe some of this genes are in all Wingsuiters? http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/12/061213-flying.html "The team says it all adds up to a mammal that glided 70 million years before any other—and possibly even before birds took to the air. Now that's something completely different." Enjoy -
Hysteresis, or Why sometimes you barely move forward
redfox replied to yuri_base's topic in Wing Suit Flying
This data was measured with a Garmin Forerunner 205. Getting a polar curve from your flights is pretty hard from my point of view, weather conditions may affect your flight as much as slightly different body positions, but I guess every wingsuit flyer know this... Maybe we should learn more about the theory of "intelligent falling"? -

GPS may help a lot, but it can display some very interesting errors by itself. Look at my speed record (In reality it was a GPS error!!!) Cordially, Herwig -
