USPA - Jan Meyer Impeachment??
MakeItHappen replied to Thanatos340's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This post does NOT represent USPA views. It is a personal post made by me. As you would expect, I am not at liberty to discuss details of what happened last Friday. I will leave you with this consideration: There are many posts here that lambast manufacturers or national organizations or certain individuals. These posts are not considered PAs. They purport to state facts and a person's evaluation of their experience with a company, organization or individual. What if, a mfg or national organization or individual said to Sangiro, 'Hey - you need to take down that post #123456 that says something I don't like about me.' I am not talking about copyright issues here. Many times I've asked Sangiro to remove posts that were in copyright violation of my articles. He did remove posts that were in blatant violation of my copyrights. I am talking about each individual's right to say what they believe to be true. At least in the US, this right still exists to the best of my knowledge. An entity, whether an organization, company or another individual, does not have the right to censor what you have to say. DZ.com mods may censor the way you state your opinion, but they cannot and do not censor the content of your missive. There are many unjust accusations against me regarding the Skyride et al v. USPA lawsuit. I do not have a copy of the settlement agreement. I have read it twice, this past weekend. The fiasco trial that occurred last Friday happened before I even had an opportunity to read the agreement the first time in its entirety. I was denied legal representation. I wish I could let you in on the details, but at this point in time, it is not a prudent position. In the long run you will realize that just about every USPA board member does not and did not like the activities of Skyride et al. Yet they wanted to dump the reason for the lawsuit on my shoulders. The reasons for the lawsuit are very far from my outspoken views on Skyride et al. I cannot disclose details at this time. The fact is that the USPA board removed the membership of persons associated with Skyride et al. It was not one person that did that. The lawsuit was precipitated by this action. I thank everyone that supported me via email, phone or in person. I truly thank those that supported me onsite before, during and after the fact of the fucked up alleged USPA trial that was supposedly presented to protect the rights of the accused. . . Try OmniSkore.com I don't remember if I was able to capture the vrw teams. I was in a judge class most of the time. HQ should have the master dvds. Ask them how to get copies. . . Make It Happen Parachute History DiveMaker -
Yeah that sucks and I definitely know what you are going through. I lost my RePete last Nov 19 to hemangiosarcoma. http://HemetAnimalRescue.com/repete.php I've gone down to the pound 3x trying to find another dog, but I wasn't quite ready in Dec. One more week and I'll be able to get Three-Pete. Max needs another buddy too. . . Make It Happen Parachute History DiveMaker

From this bulletin and the manual, a 'bad' CYPRES would be one you couldn't get to turn on (and then off, if you wanted it off). A 'good' CYPRES with a blank screen would be one that you could turn on and then off. And this is if you're trying to determine if a CYPRES is 'good' with a blank screen. Mike So in the real world, people will start the start process- won't look at the display (most jumpers don't) during countdown. Then at altitude someone says - "hey your CYPRES is not on." And the guy with the rig says "I can't remember if I turned it on or not." So is it bad or good? no one knows ---whatever you do, do not try to turn it on at altitude This failure mode is very serious. Esp if you do video for HD. . . Stuff like that has happened before. Usually it was with the velcro jumpsuit cuffs (the 'old daze' of RW suits or today's FF suits) that caught the cutaway handle. . . Make It Happen Parachute History DiveMaker

So how do you tell the difference between a 'good' CYPRES that is turned off and has a blank display from a 'bad' CYPRES that screws up in some unknown way and has a blank display? . . Make It Happen Parachute History DiveMaker

Good luck with your new pup. I'll be getting a pup in a few weeks. BTW, two dogs are easier to care for than one dog. . . Make It Happen Parachute History DiveMaker

Hey JP, Have you recently watched the movie 'Mr. Smith Goes to Washington'? It's a movie by Frank Capra - made back in 1939. He always liked relating his movies to Mr. Lincoln. The movie was made at the beginning of the war (aka WW2) before the US ever got into it. The ending is kinda 'unrealistic' - expecting the bad guy to fess up - all on his own, but the rest of the movie is true to life - even today. Hope that wasn't a spoiler and that you go watch it again. Lemme know what you think....... Email me your cell# so I can touch bases with you at the BOD mtg. I actually have a pre-paid cell number now. Wonder how many minutes I need to get on it for the next mtg? . . Make It Happen Parachute History DiveMaker

Kinda late reply but "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" is pretty funny and yet at the same time has some great social messages - so it fits the drama requirement too. . . Make It Happen Parachute History DiveMaker

Whoa this is a 'There I was..." and a funny story at the same time. I'm also using this for my writing class. So there I was.... riding my bike down the street with Max running along side. Max is heal trained on the right side because RePete had the left side. I don't see a reason to switch Max over to the left and bike riding is probably safer with her on the right. I do plan on getting another pup after my February road trip 'Ms. Meyer Goes to Orlando'. Max started doing more regular bike runs with me since RePete died. We do shorter more frequent runs than long, all out rides. Max is still at the training stage. That is I still hold the leash in my hand as opposed to wrapping it around the seat stem. The 'plan' is that I can correct her when she wants to go off elsewhere, but I do have to watch her. I have to split attention between the forward and down directions. For the most part, other dogs and people do not distract her. For a two year old, she is pretty good at the basic commands. Max can get startled by loud noises, just like most other dogs. We were approaching a 4-way stop intersection. There was a van there that had something to do with pumping water out into the street. I saw the water and didn't really think that would spook Max. I had my ipod blaring music into my ears and did not realize just how loud the pump was. We were not even to the water or abeam of the pump and Max hit the brakes. A 65-70 pound dog hitting that doggy squat will send anyone over the handlebars in a heartbeat. I was looking forward and not at Max when she did that. I wasn't able to let go of the 3-4ft leash slack. I went flying and actually traveled far enough to land in the water. Max ended up in an excellent sit position just outside of the water. I stood up and realized my left earbud had dropped into the water. I placed it back into my ear and could not hear much music from it. I pulled out the ipod from the now, very waterlogged left pocket. It had some strange message about firewire connections not working, but was still playing 'Another Night in Paradise' by Phil Collins. By this time a car had approach the intersection behind us. I waved them forward. Then a guy from across the street yelled 'Are you OK?' I waved back at him and his two dogs. Then I picked up my bike and got Max in position. We continued on our run. The only other times the dogs and I wiped out where two other times. One in Tucson with Pete and Katie, when a loose dog charged Pete, and one time in Eloy with RePete and Max when a loose dog charged RePete. -- did I get the tenses right? . . USPA - Jan Meyer Impeachment??
MakeItHappen replied to Thanatos340's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You know, I have not called Glenn about this. I figure, if he wants to impeach me he ought to be the one paying for the phone calls and at least have the balls to tell me WTF he is so upset about. Besides - he does not answer phone calls from me anyway. But if any of you get any extra info, please send it my way. 951-658-3526 . . Make It Happen Parachute History DiveMaker -

Well, Rich, I learned of this the same way everyone else did - I read it in the the agenda. I really do not know anything more than anyone else, except that it IS related to the SkyRide issue, as related to me by my RD. That part I definitely know is true. . . Online Elections for USPA
MakeItHappen replied to MakeItHappen's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I need some 'volunteers' to help evaluate an online voting system that may be used by USPA. (Probably NOT in this year's election, but the election after that or at the GMM in Reno 2009) Volunteers must: - be USPA members - have internet access - have an email addy Your 'job' is to: - keep a detailed journal of your experience in this process - participate in a dummy online election with in the next few days - answer questions about 'your experience' - participate in a second dummy election - while delibrately making mistakes - not to discuss your experience until the test voting has been completed (We do not want to bias anyone that may participate after you.) To apply: Send your real name, USPA # and email addy to me at Aerosoftware_AT_MakeItHappen.com replace _AT_ with @ Also specify what type of computer/internet user you are: expert user (know how to write web applications, set up servers, etc) general/consumer user (buy from ebay and online stores, have nerdy neighbor install progams for me) novice user (can turn on computer, click bookmark for DZ.com, visit online stores and call their toll free number to order) There is a limit on the number of test voters, so apply soon. . . Most Recent Collegiat Nationals
MakeItHappen replied to ZigZagMarquis's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Results are also at Collegiates. Videos will be added later today. OmniSkore is generally not used at Collegiates to keep the cost down for the competitors. However, this year a system was at Skydive Arizona and I was there for a judging course that also used an OmniSkore system at no cost. Real-time support to update the web site was not 100% because of my double duties. I managed to become a National FS judge, even with being pulled away from time to time to support the Collegiates. . . Make It Happen Parachute History DiveMaker -

Never. Not on ANY calendar that I've ever heard of. Quade, I'm surprized at your lack of knowlegde and inability to go research this information. http://www.infoplease.com/spot/history-of-august.html no clicky for you. . . Make It Happen Parachute History DiveMaker

What's your fucking point? Do you have a point, or are you just trying to shit on anything you can find? It is additional information, albeit incomplete. There is also info on percentages of funds donated and percentages of the Comm. Foundation too that could be used to evaluate the situation. It is no different than someone filling in #jumps, WL and experience levels on an incident report. People blast some newbie for being in over his head because the WL was too high for # of jumps. People ought to be able to see where the money is coming from and say kudos to the right set of people, as opposed to passing on kudos upon people that didn't really provide the donations, but merely passed donations on because of contractual agreements. . .
