    Well, my skydiving-related purchases are a different story ... Just bought a beautiful Spectre. And I'm always finding more closing pin necklaces, each more beautiful than the last. Same with goggles -- I constantly want a new pair. Oh, and there's my new Vector 3 that accompanies me to bed every night, much to Boyfriend's dismay. Now I'm shopping around for jumpsuits. There are so many options, I just can't decide. You know, becoming a skydiver gave me so many wonderful things to shop for!

    Oy. Maybe you're one of smart ones who saves their money for jump tickets. Unfortunately, I'm a compulsive shopper.

    Do you purchase things simply because you associate them with skydiving -- even though they have NOTHING to do with the sport? Me, I'm a fan of Blue Sky sodas. I also like Potato Flyer chips (which I have officially renamed Potato FreeFlyer chips). I just like what the bag says: "The pilot and the seaplane represent the freedom of flight as well as the freedom of fear, and the advancement of personal exploration. When you eat these chips, think of something you've never done and would like to try, and then get really good at doing something really good."

    Um, I'm a writer ... and a testament to the fact that very few of us are overpaid. It's tragic, really.

    Are there any Web sites with a comprehensive list of legal BASE jumping sites in the U.S.? I'm new to BASE, and I would prefer to learn in a legal environment before I take the big plunge. I know there are a few camps here and there -- and I've heard ALL about Bridge Day -- but I'd really like to check out all my options.

    When your legs are in a "daffy" ... where the heck did that term come from? Boyfriend told me it derived from some sort of ski move. But that still doesn't explain why it's called "daffy."

    After I started skydiving, I asked everyone at work to go ... and all but one person turned me down. The funniest "no" response came from an African-American guy. He said, "I have enough trouble just trying to get through life as a black man in this city. Now, why would I want to jump out of any planes?" Interestingly enough, the person who did go with me was a black man. And he noticed there were three others doing their first tandems that day, too. He was excited to see so many brothers.

    I think I might like DeLand also, because that's where my future ex-husband skydives. Of course, I don't know the guy yet ... I merely saw his photo on the Nationals Web site. But he's delicious. And so very mine.

    I didn't really think about it. I just knew it sounded like fun. It was on my list of things to do before my birthday. And someone asked me to go with them while I was having a few cocktails. The more I've dissected it, though, the more I realize that I continue skydiving for deeper reasons ... the biggie being that my mom has Alzheimer's Disease. I'd rather die quickly than waste away.
