This is a nitemare scenerio for sure,I have not heard of it happening but god forbid .. this is why we have strict intensive training for TMI and gearing up and jump procedures to adhere too ,ensuring maximun safety for tandem pair.. plus all the equipment is Cypres equipped... I have friends who give there passengers Alti`s and brief them on a minimune deployment height just in case of no droque release ( 4000 ft AGL ) and mount the secondary DR Handle in a position for easy access by both passenger and TMI.... My biggest fear is droque entanglement... but I trust my skill and my rigger ...

From Yahoo UK news.. Madrid train blasts kill 173 By Daniel Trotta MADRID (Reuters) - Basque separatists have killed 173 people in simultaneous blasts that ripped through packed Madrid trains in the guerrilla group's bloodiest attack in more than three decades, Spain says. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks across the Spanish capital three days before a national election, but Spain insisted on Thursday the Basque separatist group ETA was to blame. It brushed aside suggestions that Muslim militants angry at Spain's support for the U.S.-led war in Iraq were behind the attacks. Ten rush-hour blasts at three railway stations tore up people, including a baby, and left pools of blood in the wreckage of trains, tracks and buildings. "It is absolutely clear that the terrorist organisation ETA was seeking an attack with wide repercussions," Interior Minister Angel Acebes told a hastily called news conference, dismissing speculation that any other group could be involved. Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar vowed the government would arrest the "criminals" behind the blasts, which ripped open commuter trains like tuna cans. The Interior Ministry said 173 people died in the explosions which rocked the central Madrid station of Atocha, the southern Madrid station of El Pozo and a third at Santa Eugenia. Officials said 600 people were injured. ETA (Euskadi ta Askatasuna) has killed around 850 people since 1968 in its fight for a separate Basque homeland in northwest Spain and southwest France and has been branded a terrorist group by the United States and the European Union. Late last month, police arrested two suspected ETA members who were heading for Madrid with a van containing 500 kg (1,100 lbs) of explosives, averting a possible attack. If the Basque group was responsible for Thursday's bombings, it would be its deadliest attack, exceeding the 21 people it killed in a supermarket blast in Barcelona in 1987. A LOT OF BLOOD "I saw a baby torn to bits," said Ana Maria Mayor, a train passenger, her voice cracking. Ambulance driver Enrique Sanchez said at Atocha station that many people had facial wounds, amputated limbs and broken bones. "The train was cut open like a can of tuna...We didn't know who to treat first. There was a lot of blood, a lot of blood." The Spanish government convened an emergency cabinet meeting and the ruling Popular Party suspended its election campaign, which had focused on a tougher stance against ETA. European stock markets fell sharply on fears the attack was the work of Islamic extremists, while bond markets rallied as investors pushed their cash into safe havens. The September 11 attacks on the U.S. led to sharp falls in global markets in 2001 and were blamed for deepening a worldwide economic slump. U.S. President George W. Bush joined other leaders in condemning the bombings which European Parliament President Pat Cox called the "worst act of terror in memory in any European Union state." It was the biggest death toll in Europe since December 1988 when a Pan American World Airways Boeing 747 crashed on the town of Lockerbie, Scotland, killing all 259 aboard after a bomb on the plane exploded. Eleven people in Lockerbie also were killed. Some experts on ETA said the bombings did not fit ETA's usual profile for attacks. The guerrilla group has frequently phoned ahead to warn of its plans. Last month ETA declared a ceasefire limited to the northeastern region of Catalonia but made clear it would pursue the armed struggle in the rest of the country. In October, two audiotapes purportedly from al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden said the militant group had the "right to respond at any suitable time and place" against those countries with forces in Iraq. Spain was among the countries listed.

Hey Wingnut Let me share this with you... I learnt to skydive 13 years ago at a DZ in the UK,this was a small club with 10-15 jumpers and used a 182 and the static line method.Due to the shitty weather,it took along time to get through the system...but once I qualified...I could do 3-5 jumps in a day...This club is now closed down.. Now since then I have been all over the world and jumped at the biggest boogies, competeted in National events and championships, attended rating courses, jumped everytype of big jumpship there is,had some great piss ups and have been known to sneak up a few Antennas at nite to jump them...but you know what ?..... The best days of my jumping career where back then at the small club `Blue Skies PC`squeezing into a 182,laughing and chatting all the way to 9K and shitting myself silly and then maybe...just maybe getting a 1 point skydive....landing in the field ,PLFing like a pro and then sweating my arse off trying to flat pack my pink 170 firelite. But what we all shared in those days together was great, and how we all became part of each other lives.... This is a moment I have never been able to relive or replace.... So where am I going with all this ?.... well... if you have friends at the DZ and are guranteed a good laugh then go... next weekend is too far in the future.. 400 miles is nothing to travel when you have a chance to be with your bros and get your knees in the breeze... Have a jump for me coz Im in snowy Quebec and wont jump until the 28th when I get to spain... JC

I fu%*"ng hate THIEFS !!!!

I dont have time to read all the posts or see what your like but just for info sake in my opinion...for sure 1.75 no problem.... I do 1.65 ish on a 120....its brilliant.... I piss all over some of these wankers on there little xbraces...but then again Im current and have tons of swoops over 12 yrs...plus it opens beautiful as well so if your current and clued in on the bigger picture it will work lovely but but but if you have the skill to make the landings work .. which is easier than a velo... I have seen skymonkeyone in zhills on his 97 and that dude kicks ass for sure.... hes my personal sabre2 swooping hero after jari of course ( coz hes better looking )

Sabre2 openings, which mighty warrior has tamed them
sneaky replied to friflaj's topic in Gear and Rigging
I put 480 jumps on a Sabre2 loaded at 1.5 over a 4 month period.... At the start it was quite eratic, but it settled down after 40 or so jumps... my trick is to leave the nose exposed and 1/4 the slider and put 3-5 rolls on the tail...I have a 120 so 3 rolls is the best... use good double stows with bungees and allow a forarms lenght in the bottom of the container.... And as quoted work on harness symmentry ...fly the canopy out of the container so to speak... When packing my first step is to tie the big harness rings on the risers together ( pull up cord ),so to ensure symmetry in the lines and packjob. This is a great canopy... just try the above and see....if that doesn`t work then do as the others in this thread have suggested.... Blue Skies -
I did the same thing on a swoop... came of the end and popped it up and came down on concrete ..cracking my heel... That was 5 years ago and it still gives me shit... I had all the hospital bollox..but there was nothing I could do except rest it..after a while (2months or so) I just got back in the air and took the pain...probaly my own fault it still hurts ..but 8 weeks on a stick didnt help either...

Reserve packing for European rig used in the US.
sneaky replied to juanesky's topic in Gear and Rigging
Its not an issue,as long as the reserve packing card is in date and they fill out all the waivers.I have heard of some problems with some smaller DZ`s but most are aware of the situation with European jumpers
