  1. The truly noble do not seek attention. They perform their good deeds and move on With out ceremony or fan fair. That is how you know they are for real
  2. My dad had a 67 convertible Baracuda that he recently sold. He did it with out telling me or I would have made an offer. I was pised when I heard he sold it. Fucking thing was beautiful
  3. I don't know about the rest of you but I think that this is the best thread I have ever seen in these forums. Each night I get to sit down and read a bed time story. Thank you Joy for that glimpse into the past. Too bad about the booze. Thanks everybody and keep them coming. What about you Tom A. I'm sure that you have your share of stories. Lets hear them.
  4. Great one Ron. I started reading with out looking to see who had writen the story. Before I was finnished, I knew you were the author. You write like you speak. Great job. Your story is proof of just how far one can go with little more than a stout set of balls. Tell Johan I said "sup nigga" K
  5. Damn those medeling do gooders. Great story.
  6. You know I love ya Nick but I have to call bullshit on that. I did not start jumping in the era of the legal sights. My first 300 jumps where at night. That is the time in which I started jumping and that is the context in which I formed my opinion. There is no shit deeper than being broken, and left for dead. For what? Jail time or a job? Fuck your job. You can get another. Fuck jail time. You will get out one day. And if you have a family depending on you to be employed, out of jail or alive, then grow up and make responsible choices or have the courage to face the consequences. Don't make your buddy pay the ultimate price because your scared of the can. When the buddy left for dead stops breathing, he can never be replaced. EVER. Cowardice is cowardice and in my book it is inexcusable regardless of context or time. I suppose that the real lesson here is choose your friends carefully. I hope that you your self would never advocate bailing on a bro, particularly in light of the piggy back ride you received all those years ago.
  7. When you think about it, it was not such a bad deal for Macbride. He probably never would have received such a large payday with out being handed a fight that he was supposed to lose. Additionally it goes on his record as a win and as such, will most likely get him another shot at a largeish pay day down the road.
  8. I Climbed 2000' up 60 degree rocky slope with multiple shear sections on my hands and knees because I injured both of my ankles and both of my feet. It took 8 and a half hours to complete the climb I got to know my self pretty well that day Oh yea, I Also quit drinking using and smoking
  9. I heard of an incident that happened before I started jumping where one jumper broke his back at the bottom of a canyon and his buddy just covered him up in his parachute and left. No phone calls to rescue services or cops, nothing. just left him for dead. I later met the guy that left his buddy and I refused to jump with him or even stand in his presence. I don't hang with shit bags. If that where me that he had left at the bottom of that cliff, then as soon as I was able, I would become the instrument of Karma the moment I saw him again. Sure, minimize the impact of impact by the ways already mentioned in earlier posts, but never leave a breathing brother or sister behind
  10. Don't sweat it. When it's your time you will be directed to that place you need to be so just enjoy it while you can. Like the song says Don't fear the reaper
  11. I've been through more than I can count including the Loma Prieta, North Ridge, and the Silmar way back in the 70's. They're actually kinda cool.. up to a point. They stop being cool when shit starts falling all around you.
  12. Fucking great one. I especially liked the part about bursting into the room full of unsuspecting co- workers.
  13. Then I accidentally hit the SC icon instead of the Bonfire. Oh well. Come to think of it, ever notice that the majority of posters in the SC never post anywhere else in these forums? Are they that consumed by arguing that they have no time for anything else or could they be "plants" inserted there to espouse certain party lines?
  14. Actually Shlomo is correct. It is a bartack. I have the very same machine PD uses (Brother 434E) and PD was kind enough to send me a chip containing all their bartack patterns on it including two 72 stitch center start and stop bartacks used for attaching Stabilizers to lines Edited to say that I think your both correct but it is done with a Bartack machine not a zig-zag
  15. Great story. Proof once again that stories don't need to be vintage to be cool. Thanks and keep them comming. What you are about to read is a message I sent to someone about telling their story. I'm posting it here so that maybe it will inspire others to put pen to paper or fingers to keyboards. ----------------------------------------------------------- I really like reading other peoples stories. If you haven't already, then you should write more of your stories down. Hell, the best writers in Hollywood could not make half the shit that we as BASE jumpers have been through. I have written many stories and I've noticed that most of them involve some kind of near death experiences, that when looked back upon, are actually very funny. How twisted it that? I've got several more stories that I intend to post but like you said, they can be kind of embarrassing. Particularly when so many in these forums prefer to project images of perfection rather than humility. Oh well, Fuck um. The way I see it, no one has the right to laugh at anyone else until they can first laugh at them selves. Besides, I write more for my children and grandchildren than I do for my peers in these forums. Kevin
  16. Of course he did. He's been a has been for years. Frankly I'm surprised he got another pay per veiw fight after his last disaster
  17. Is that a pickel up your ass or are you just upset to see me?
  18. Are you making sure that you are flying your body all the way through the opening? In other words, you must be aware of and control your harness inputs as the canopy is sniveling. If you lean to the left during the snivel, then thats the direction the canopy is going to go and vice versa. Additionally, if you are reaching up for the risers, this may also contribute to off heading openings if you are not conscious of how you are doing it. These are things that must be learned if you choose to jump a canopy with a relatively high aspect ratio. Again, sorry if these sugesions are too obvious
  19. O.K. then to answer your question, it all depends on the level of bust factor. If I know that when I land I'm going straight to jail then there is not a lot of fun in that. If I'm fairly sure that I going to skate then there is some added excitement but if I had choose, I'd jump legally every time
  20. Ahhha. Just as I suspected. O.K. maybe not
  21. Might be a bit too obvious but are you making sure that your leg straps are tight, even, and not slipping on opening?
  22. I'm going to keep bumping this one until some ponies up with a story. Perosnally I don't even care if your sories are vintage or not. If it's cool, then I want to read it. Can I get an Amen?
