I'm thankful I'm alive, and the turkey isn't. I'm also thankful for every chance to get in a plane. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Sorry, I confused the USP with the "H&K Carbine". It has an "ambidextrous" magazine release right behind the forward-mounted magazine, where it's hard to get a thumb between the mag and the lower/frame. Both the Carbine and the SL-8 looked (or seemed) so sweet when they were coming out - the SL-8 has that floating rail and all that. Haven't fired the SL-8 but I see what you mean about the thumbhole stock. The Carbine is a bit better with its connected-pistol-grip stock, but... Pic of Carbine and SL-8 -=-=-=-=- Pull.

stupid neighbours: burned aircraft !

For a while, we had it a bit differently here in the United States. With any luck, they'll find out who did it and extract the price of a shiny NEW porter out of them. I know I'd cry my little eyes out if they had to sell their airport-side home to help pay for that. But then at least they wouldn't have to put up with the horrible turboprop noise anymore. Hope it doesn't force the culprits to move to a place right off the end of a runway at Charles De Gaulle airport, tho... -=-=-=-=- Pull. -
Uh, actually now that you remind me, yeah. Dodging the dorks in Bonanzas is one thing; dodging those airliners (and the odd military transport) is something else. Way more square footage to whack. Or just my luck, I'd get sucked into a jet engine and my epitaph would say "Birdstrike - but not like you think." Can't ATC do something for us? Get us some squawk codes and clear the area of traffic? They could even spot for us. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Come on, you like being amphibious (spelling?), it makes you swoop better. Lots of reptiles are amphibious. They just aren't amphibians. They're closely related - both have those signature 3-chambered hearts, both tend to be oviparious, both tend to be exothermic. Reptiles are just the "drier" of the two. They can still chow from time to time and be none the worse for wear. Now, if he was raised in the Pacific Northwest, he's definitely an amphibian. It's so wet here that if you can't take in oxygen through your skin, you die. Bonus is we're less likely to spontaneously combust. (We spontaneously smolder instead.) -=-=-=-=- Pull.

I was really excited about the h&k usp until it came out and I tried one. I liked the way it shot, but I couldn't stand the mag changes and I wasn't too hot about the huge hunk of stock I had to get my body around to hold it. I hope it treats you better; I was kinda bummed after my encounter. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Ah, then he's a Flying Dutchman as well, which I can be a fan of. -=-=-=-=- Pull. -
You tell 'em Jeanne...maybe we can do some kind of native american sun dance or something... Don't bother. I've seen it, it works, but it takes like 6 months to kick in. Maybe we can ask the FAA for a waiver to the clouds rule... -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Looks like Thanksgiving dinner is done differently in the tropix. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Oh, right: ACMESkydiver: related to the ACME anvils Wile E. Coyote would always send away for to try and drop on the Roadrunner. This is accurate in freefall and the last 20 feet of landing. And my comment on Amazon: warrior woman that makes the hot-shit explorer men stop short and remember respect. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Just curious, but do you tell them it was stolen from your home, or do you tell the truth that it was stolen at a dz? Do most insurances cover this? Angela. This is a battle of ethics. By your own ethics, you may be compelled to tell them the honest truth. And you would hope that by their own ethics, they would give you a fair, impartial, and equitable deal, seeing as you are their client and pay them a lot of money on an ongoing basis for precisely that. However, I believe many people have found that insurance companies do not, in all cases, give fair, impartial, and equitable deals, not even so far as to meet the client's expectations based on written representations. And there are many artifacts that add up to this, not least of which is those nearly-monthly notices that your insurance coverage has changed (i.e. gone down) and/or your premiums have changed (i.e. gone down) so they can remain competitive. Which leads to a case of prisoner's dilemna, in some peoples' eyes. Or a case of "taking what's due" in other peoples' eyes. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Yo! 9mm, .40 short-and-weak, .45, .22, and .223 (5.56mm for our NATO friends). I like the little pleasures - soda cans at 100 yards with 62 grain hollowpoints at 3000 fps. I find Grape smells the best but Strawberry is more convincing - especially if using round-nose instead of hp, since they tend to spurt more instead of detonating. I also like shooting trap when I can. Can't afford a shotgun, though! And, for the record, I don't shoot living things for recreation. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Legit pins always curve the one way. But the employees at your company won't know the difference. So make all 60 of theirs so they go the wrong way, and real skydivers will be able to spot the posers. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

SPEED all you want, Who CARES!!!

Some of my whuffo friends can't believe how much I'm in the process of spending on skydiving (buying a rig, finished paying for 41 student jumps) - more than my motorcycle cost, more than their new set of golf clubs, more than etc.. I just explain that all that other stuff doesn't go fast enough. -=-=-=-=- Pull. -
I totally need to call State Farm and ask them that, among my other "Whatif" questions. Me: "Is my parachute covered if I jump out of the airplane, initiate deployment normally, and the parachute explodes unexpectedly? Assuming I live, of course." -=-=-=-=- Pull.

another post about adhesive tapes touching your container

You can also do some post-op correction if you have a pair of scissors. If I understand the design of the band correctly, the sticky-bad-overlapping part of the bracelet will be small and on the end / edges. Trimming the excess may have no effect on the official purpose of the bracelet. -=-=-=-=- Pull. -
It's worse than that. It's basically eggnog in a blender with a frog added to it. (No, it's not a real drink. No, I've never made it, or considered making it. No, I've never drunk it, nor seen it. It's from a joke that was quite popular in grade school.) -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Yoshi - green, cherubic, overcomes many obstacles by consuming them. Has excellent control of his lengthy tongue. (Note: not all Yoshis are green; please see Nin64's "Yoshi's Story", wherein the clan of adolescent Yoshis of all colors are political refugees who have to find their way back to the "Super Happy Tree" - and I'm not making this up. Black Yoshi is badass but not stock.) Frognog - a drink of dubious contents that people are all over around the year's-end holidays, but around New Year's they realize what it's made of and wise up for about a year. Goes good with Brandy. Cold and slimy. Mixed up. A Warrior's drink. FreeflyGoddess - flies on her knees. Viking - never too cold to jump. Crazy Ivan - tracks straight for a few seconds then makes a wicked, unexpected turn. Wrongway - deploys upside down. Wears his rig backwards. Hooks his main up backwards and flies it that way for fun. Purple Badger - gets his way in the exit order with a vein-popping apoplexy. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Rebecca - gonna make me fall in love for a decade, always just out of reach, then steep my heart in liquid nitrogen and hit it with a sledgehammer. Uh, personal thing. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

If it works for tracking, that would be sweet. I want something like that. (Or maybe I should just learn to read my wrist one while tracking.) -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Well, you just need something about as long as the PC pouch - say, twelve inches, and relatively stiff but not particularly sharp anywhere along it. Why, what a coincidence... -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Is the main container non-TSO'd? I thought it was part of the harness/reserve system and therefore only a Master rigger could make major repairs. But I could be wrong. This would explain my confusion over the casualness of people putting dynamic corners on their main containers for wingsuit flying. -=-=-=-=- Pull.
-
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Most DZs interpret that as "show a pilotchute above altitude X" or go crater somewhere else. I believe the BSRs call these altitudes "container opening" altitudes. Since the PC is supposed to tug the pin pretty durn quickly after it inflates, I concur with Riggerrob that this would likely be a "show a PC" altitude from the S&TA's point of view. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

They don't tend to use that technique at 182 dropzones. Well, sometimes they do. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

How many jumps do you have on your PC? Have you done some ground testing on your tight loop with the grommet wear? And how much force does a PC develop at the absolute minimum freefall airspeed you figure you were at? I have heard PCs develop incredible force at terminal; even as low as 50 MPH I would expect them to be capable of pulling a pin, even if the loop is really tight. (See ground test above; involve fish scales; ride in car with friend and hang PC out window at low speed ) How long did you stare at the inflated PC? Maybe it was burbling until you looked and then it got out where it was supposed to be... All just curiousness. Heh - at least you didn't have a heavy spring in yer PC.
