Dude, you need to get a tape recorder on your phone so you can review this stuff. And maybe post it. I bet it's hilarious. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

I'm a BOC, throw-out snob. It's simple, it doesn't make Bill Booth say "out-of-sequence deployment", it has worked for me, and when my spandex goes to hell I'll drive my rig back to the mfgr for a new pouch. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

An "A" license is like a driver's license in a way. It means you have trained and tested enough to be safe to jump on your own. Lots of "new skydiver" questions and info can be found in the book "Parachuting: The Skydiver's Handbook" [ISBN 1568600879]. I think it is $20 well spent. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Are there strict req'ts for the caterpillar club? Like, does your life have to be saved by the parachute? Most skydivers were going to jump anyways. Now, the glider pilot around these parts who woke up to find the glider's canopy missing, and bailed out - he sounds like he deserves a caterpillar. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Line twists after your under a good canopy
FrogNog replied to SurfFlite's topic in Safety and Training
Has anyone addressed that on its face this statement is wrong, misleading, confusing, and/or dangerous? AFAIK there is nothing inherently bad about turning with toggles. It's just that it can cause certain things, like spinning up a canopy into line twists if done incorrectly. (That part has been covered in this post, for sure. ) If someone had too much altitude and needed to do a 360, I don't think I would tell them it should be a front-riser 360. Surely Omar didn't say this either. -=-=-=-=- Pull. -
I don't have the experience with non-collapsible pilot chutes to know if I could feel the difference. Based on theory and what I have heard, the difference would probably be feelable, but there should not be any reason you need a collapsible pilot chute. Based on the cost of collapsible vs. non-collapsible PCs and a theoretical replacement schedule of once every 100 jumps, this could be a difference of nearly $.50 per jump. Where I heard collapsible PCs are necessary is high performance canopies, where I assume the extra drag could make them fly funny. I don't think Silhouette 210 falls into that category. Tell the truth.........you made that up......didn't you? Yup. Then I jammed Google full of pages about it. I am bad. I'm like the worst of Turtle and the worst of Sunshine put together, filtered, and mentholated. With whipped cream on top every 100 jumps. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Based on a previous post, it had to be polled. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Just had an idea, side by side left/right line stows
FrogNog replied to skydivingdutch's topic in Gear and Rigging
How would you account for needing at least twice at much stowing length? On every pack job I've done, I need to go back and forth and back and forth over pretty much the whole end of the bag, with both line halves together. If the line halves were split, I'd still need to cover that much linear distance, but now I'd have to do it twice. That wouldn't be possible, especially while trying to keep the bitter ends from intertwining. I'm also against packing techniques that require more rubber bands. My pack jobs open on-heading most of the time (well, right up until the slider comes down ) already. -=-=-=-=- Pull. -
Jet-A is a subset of kerosene. (The dock vs. pier thing.) I believe the appropriate spec is ASTM-D-1655. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

* 9 jumps * including new personal record of 5 jumps in one day * all from 182s * 1st hitch-hike back to the DZ (and first time using my shoelace as a field-packing pullup cord) * 1st extended freefly speed jump ("dead dog" head-low backfly). Wow, that is some speed!

Get WinDoom. Don't bother with any DOS4GW games nowadays. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

My up and coming 666 Devil jump
FrogNog replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You could borrow an all-red canopy, for starters. Although, the all-red canopy at my DZ doesn't look demonic, it looks more like a big tomato when I see it. -=-=-=-=- Pull. -
Pit Meadows volunteer fire department save jump planes
FrogNog replied to riggerrob's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Good job! Glad to hear the important stuff didn't get burnt. I can hitchhike back from the LZ; I can't walk to altitude. -=-=-=-=- Pull. -
I thought someone brought in Krispy Kremes..... That would be "Crack in the workplace" I didn't get addicted because my second hit, I did 5 of them in a row, then 15 minutes later I went to the bathroom and, well, disgusting story short, I don't eat Krispy Kremes anymore because they don't last long enough. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Do the Casas and Skyvans have funky wakes? I heard their wakes had sharp edges. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

I'd rather skydive without that pressure. I'm nervous enough putting new stuff to practice up in the air. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

I thought religious debate belonged in "Speaker's Corner", not Bonfire. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

I hope there wasn't any wind? That would be what spotting is for.

You may still have a chance in small claims court, because apartment complexes are known to have a habit of doing this. The law as I read it, in WA at least, is that the apartment cannot call it a "deposit" if they don't plan on giving it back. It sounds like they're in the gray area, since they could clearly have held money "in case" they needed to clean carpet stains you made and didn't clean yourself, but there's a decent chance you'll be able to convince the court that you didn't make that carpet need replacing, it was just old carpet that through normal wear and tear had reached the end of its days. And charging you for that would be a fee, not a deposit. BTW, I lived in an apartment complex once and my gf lived in another once, and that is too much for me forever. Let me just make some POed emoticons and quit typing now. :@:@:@:@:@:@:@:@! -=-=-=-=- Pull.

I like how the different categories of people are assumed exclusive. It can be rephrased to generate these two interesting assumptions: Nobody retired is in school, the military, government, or prison. Nobody in school works or is in the military, federal/state/city government, or prison. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

Is the 2 jump tickets because there are 2 training jumps? Or is it "1 for the BMI, 1 for the BM Student"? And I'm not just asking for academia. I'm working toward my 200 in the last 18 months. :) -=-=-=-=- Pull.

what wrong with a batwing?? I keep hearing splatwing
FrogNog replied to jasonatokc's topic in Gear and Rigging
What about "flatwing"? Oh, that's sort of like splatwing... -=-=-=-=- Pull. -
Don't make me test that and find out. (My preferred hobby fabric is denim. I have like 50 pairs of used jeans, most already disassembled, in my fabric closet.
