  1. It may be nothing more than coincidence. If this failure had some random chance of happening, it could go a long time without failing then two could fail at once. It's also possible that gear age, wear, or some other factor could be a link. But our minds have a way of seeing patterns where there are none. -=-=-=-=- Pull.
  2. Reminds me of where I lived when I first moved out of my parents' house. Although in that elevator it was strictly urine, vomit, or beer. (Surprisingly, it was almost never a combination of these things.) We eventually just started taking the stairs. -=-=-=-=- Pull.
  3. Politely point out that if you had wanted the reserve to be public, you would have gone with no reserve and started the bidding at your reserve price. I don't care for hidden reserves - not because I think they're underhanded or sneaky, just because I think they're stupid - but they are an Ebay tool and it's every user's responsibility to have the clue. You could also lie to him about the reserve. Tell him it's $ (reserve + 20%). [:D] That would be slightly unethical, unless you meant (but did not necessarily tell him) that this was the reserve price _for him_. -=-=-=-=- Pull.

  6. I think he wants to use it as a main, not a reserve (i.e. Plan B). -=-=-=-=- Pull.
  7. Do you mean it's more like a "link radius" issue, or a stacking issue, which could theoretically cut the webbing on the first jump if the hard opening and other required conditions were met? -=-=-=-=- Pull.
  8. Once you get to really trust your ability to normally be stable and to get stable when you want to, things like flips or other temporary instability will sound more fun. Is your instructor helping you take things one step at a time? A flip in the air is like when you were knee-high to a grasshopper and would do front-rolls on the lawn. A barrel-roll in the air is like rolling over in bed (in fact, that's how I practiced to get the hang of them
  9. Country songs are awesome if you just play them backwards. Got the woman I really want, found a cool dog that took to me right away, termites fixed up my roof and moved out, etc.. -=-=-=-=- Pull.
  10. * Specializing in back-to-back loads / hotloads / backup loads * Dump before you Jump * (seen on door handle:) PULL! * Now with AADs for your safety * Cheaper than a 182 and just as roomy -=-=-=-=- Pull.
  11. Wow, $1,000 and no bids yet? I am sooo surprised. -=-=-=-=- Pull.
  12. Well, what does she say about the license plate frame "My other ride is your daughter"? -=-=-=-=- Pull.
  13. Did you ever hear the one about the big ashtray full of burnt cigarette stubs and pork fat? -=-=-=-=- Pull.
  14. I know a company did real 2-out testing recently and published the results, They made a video out of it, too - pretty cool. I don't remember who it is, though. Anyway, their results were based on documented experimental experience. I think that's what you want to find, not the average DropZone.com poster's opinion. -=-=-=-=- Pull.
  15. There's obviously no way to know all the things we should see but miss. -=-=-=-=- Pull.
  16. More that _two_ sets. You can leave one set in the "Clean" laundry basket / pile, or in the dryer if you mess up the sheets prequently enough to keep that cycle rolling. -=-=-=-=- Pull.
  17. A slider pocket is like an extra "lip" sewn onto one of the slider's edges. (I think.
  18. You have pointed out that sometimes safety equipment requires additional procedures and/or training to avoid it being a hazard in certain circumstances. Don't jump out while wearing your seatbelt!
  19. I say do what you have to do to ensure you trust the reserve on your back. If you trust it when it gets to you, then that's fine. Otherwise, get it repacked so you will trust it. Whether it will work or not, nobody on the web could really tell you.
  20. Anyone know if the glass also blocks light just outside the normally visible spectrum? -=-=-=-=- Pull.
  21. I considered this a feature, not a bug, when I chose Infinity. YMMV, which is why it's good to demo stuff, but I liked the way the Infinity felt solid on my back and in my hands. Some people recommended Racer to me, and on wearing one for a bit I admitted the spine area was very comfortable for me (although my rigger sat in the corner whining about having to pack it, because he's a weenie about that ), but it was _too_ flexible between the main and reserve containers and I got the heebies. Just me. :) -=-=-=-=- Pull.
  22. On every jump, I am prepared to hear/feel my main explode from wear. (OK, not _my_ main, since it only has 170 jumps, but you know what I mean.) If I ever pull Silver, I want to know that canopy has spent its entire life waiting and preparing for that moment, and is in the best shape possible given my monetary resources. I feel the FARs we follow in skydiving are about keeping people from dying due to accidents that can be prevented by reasonable steps while still allowing the core aviation activities to take place. That's why they want us to make sure our reserves are probably in decent shape. (And wear seatbelts in case we crash on takeoff. And not freefall onto other peoples' airplanes. Etc.) -=-=-=-=- Pull.
  23. I bring earplugs _and_ mufflers (like for using at the shooting range). Together all I can usually hear is my breathing, my neck bones sliding over their bursae, and blood moving through the vessels in my head. And nothing says "Do not bother me" to the person next to you like putting in earplugs and then putting gun mufflers over them. -=-=-=-=- Pull.
  24. It sounds important for me to know what this is. Anybody? Beuller? -=-=-=-=- Pull.
  25. "If you want something done right..." -=-=-=-=- Pull.
