New rig, recommendations on what to replace....
GravityGirl replied to Ragnarok's topic in Gear and Rigging
The jump numbers are fairly low on the rig. What is the date of manufacture and what type of rig? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
The only one I would consider is the Toy Bag. A home for BOB. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

HEY!!!!! I'm 5'8" and I weigh.... ....well... never mind! But I'm not a big girl! My jumpsuit is just getting tighter. Seriously. Ask your DZO how many jumps are on the Spectre and how many on the line set. By now you should have an idea of what canopy you want to be on for the next 100 jumps. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

New rig, recommendations on what to replace....

An AFF instructor is not necissarily the person to talk to about gear and gear maintenance. (Beyond what is on your "A" card anyway) Your rigger is. An AFF Instructor teaches a person to fly their body and a parachute. A rigger inspects and maintains gear. Just my opinion. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
To add on to what JP said... What is your inseam? That will help determine the length of your torso. 14" is pretty short. But if you are 5'5" with long legs, that may be what you need. If you want help with sizing. PM me. I can help you weed through some of the used gear out there. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

I used to live in North Beach in the city. I bar-tended at the Grant and Green Blues Club.... okay.... dive bar. My point is, after I closed up, I had to walk home past a bakery right when they were baking the bread. I usually managed to walk home with a steamy loaf of freshly baked bread. Mmmmm. The little things. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

We've tried balloons at the boogie in years past. It really doesn't work with our "micro-climate". ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

#1 - I'm not a fan of the checker board look. In the begining of freefly, Olav had a checker board suit. So EVERY freefly suit was checkerboard. So all the freefliers trying to look like individuals, looked like clones. Of course, by now, I guess we could just call it retro. #2 - This style is a great look. But it is also VERY popular. So it's not exactly unique. #3 - I like it with your color scheme. There are not too many of that style out there. #4 - A little plain. So in my very unprofessional opinion... ..... #3. That is IF you can handle the heat. I find that on the 100+ days, everyone just removes their suit as soon as they land anyway. So buy some really cute boxers to go alone with it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Why don't you contact the new owner and suggest he/she contact the manufacturer for a possible solution to the opening issue if it still exsists. If you feel somewhat responsible, then offer to split any incidental costs with him/her. Shipping, slider mod, etc. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Agreed. I had a great convention. Saw soooooo many people I haven't seen in a year and met so many new friends. It was great for me. Smaller or not. My husband seemed to have fun too. Not sure 'cause I didn't see him too much. But after looking at his credit card bill, I can tell he made a few loads! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Alti II or even the Galaxy by Alti-2. Gravity Gear! -
Try a Pilot or Sabre2 170. You can take it easy at first then make them get up and go when you are ready. I have a few customers that are more aggressive than the average bear, and can fly the shit out of those canopies. Then when you wring it out, you can try a downsize. The trick is to become a good pilot, THEN get the smaller stuff. If you try to get the parachute to do the flying instead of you learning, you'll just be a shitty pilot with a fast parachute. That just makes you look bad, get injured and piss off your piers. I try to teach pilots how to fly with the proper tools for the best learning curve. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! I had a great time this year. One of the highlights was meeting you! I spent a few too many nights laughing hysterically in my booth with a dear old friend. So much so, that I'm not even sure what all that other noise was in the background. Glad you bounced helmet found it's way back to you! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Yup. What Lisa said. Wings offers a new special each month. Sometimes it is free pin stripes, sometimes free quilted backpad, etc. If you have a good offer, and you're ready..... go for it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Consignment rigs in my store sell much faster when they are "ready to go". If you can , get it up to date, list it in the classifieds here. Contact your local gear dealer and have them list it as well. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Are any BASE canopies tested and rated with that kind of suspended weight? My vote is a A2. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Our booth has been rockin' the past couple of days. From what I can tell from my perspective, there are a lot of people having a great time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Thanks everyone. Our connection has been in and out, and my cell phone connection sucks in my booth. But a few yards down it's fine. The toll free number is forwarded to me on my cell. Kim, Mathias cell works better. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

I have a bunch of used helmets right here in my RV that I've been driving with for three days from California in hopes of meeting someone like you. And as riggerrob said, I sure as hell don't want to schlep all this stuff back home with me. This 9 mpg is killing me! ....must... .....get..... ....back.... on..... ....the road! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Yup! I'm sitting here at a rest stop in Iowa on my way to Rantoul with a box full of Matter pants. If you you're going to be at the convention, come on buy, otherwise send a PM and I'll hook you up when I get there. FIVE MORE HOURS 'TILL RANTOUL!!!! Go Red Bull! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
