I don't think I have filed before October 1 more than once in the last decade. Other than the year we got married (2010), I haven't figured out how much I owe my wife (or the other way around) either. She's irritated, I'm good with it. Don't calculate what your taxes would be if you could file single instead of married (assuming both have good incomes), or it will just piss you off.

Oddly, day tickets where I mostly ski just have the ticket waiver, but I have to sign a waiver when I pick up my season pass, in which I also promise to be a good boy (ski safely, stay in bounds, etc).

Adjusted for inflation, SP500 is still not at a record.

Here is a Christmas message for men only

In that scenario, she would go to the bridge party and I would go to the pub. Neither of those activities very likely in our real lives. -
Around here, treatment at Stanford cost significantly more than "competitive" providers. One set of my standard blood tests (just routine physical stuff) was paid to them at over $1100 by my insurance. I could go online to econolabs.com, and get the same tests done (at LabCorp) for $337, and you know that econolabs must be taking a cut of at least 15%. More recently, I have insisted on getting a test prescription and taking it elsewhere, rather than having it referred internally.

Interesting article on the convolution way medical tests are prescribed and billed in the USA. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/the-odd-math-of-medical-tests-one-scan-two-prices-both-high/ar-BBgRa7E?ocid=iehp I've looked into the cost of procedures, specifically a TEE for detection of PFO, and found cost varied 12:1. Gives some numbers and insight as to why we pay so much for what we get, compared to most of the first world countries.

Enlightenment. Yes BHO could use some of that

So, from prayer and hope a few posts earlier, you have now gotten rid of delusions, and only have hope.

Approximate escape velocity is ~ 1m/s -- which means that you should be able to jump off the surface and achieve escape velocity. That would be fun, to see who could stay up the longest without leaving.

I agree. He turned out to be way too right wing.

John Stewart on New York's 11th district race

Yes, but all envy your sense of humor. -
When I was an undergrad (40 yrs ago), my roomie and I decided to see who could re-use their paper lunch bag the longest, thinking a week would be good. We both made it through the entire quarter.

I never would use all the plastic grocery bags. They are of poor quality, usually not waterproof so cannot hold wet garbage. San Jose has already had that law for a while. I always have a stack of paper grocery bags in my car trunk, to take into the store with me and re-use. So far, I've only remembered twice to actually take them in!

Hawaiians? Funny - I don't remember that war. No, children.

WalMart's New Dress Code/Uniform - Fair or Unfair to Employees?
headoverheels replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
How would you feel about it if they decided to change the colors to something new you would have to buy? Assume that it would cost you 5-6 hours pay, and you don't really find it easy to find the money to eat and pay rent? That offered 10% discount is ridiculous - Walmart doesn't pay half of retail for that stuff. -
‘Don’t you know who I am!’ The correct response is 'Why? Can't you remember?"

Well, more conservatives that liberals own poodles, so ya can't be too sure.
