  2. It will seem to be a match at first, then a tragic mistake later on...
  3. Looks strange, but the listing is definitely by the original seller, not the one with no feedback. I reported it as a potential fraud to eBay, even though it is likely just a re-listing of a sale that didn't go through the first time.
  4. I was all ready to buy a new Wings container with cut in laterals, but heard this weekend that a friend is selling hers. Problem is, the cut in laterals really put pressure on her weight belt under canopy. She wears 17#, so puts the weights pretty much all the way around her belt. I ususally put some back there, but only wear 8-12 pounds. Anyone else have a problem, or not, with weight belts and cut-in laterals, on Wings or on other containers?
  5. Probably not. You can likely get more value for your student bucks by buying cheaper gear with more jumps on it. Make a couple of hundred jumps on it, sell it for close to what you paid for it. By then, you may want a different canopy type or size, anyway.
  6. Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do and die
  7. Oh, I like the next photo better http://gallery.colofinder.net/random-funny/disney
  8. Hey, I hand deployed a reserve under a partial malfunction, and I kept both handles and the kicker plate too. But I say toss anything.
  9. I've never pulled a reserve with my left hand. I've only had one chop that had a breakaway handle, the rest were on capewells. On that one, someone brought my breakaway handle back to me a few minutes later. I don't think I ever tossed a reserve ripcord, but I probably tossed a couple of main ripcords.
  10. That would be my ex-wife. Or was it just me....
  11. It's not bullshit that tax code should not penalize marriage. Why should my GF and I pay thousands in additional income tax, just to be married?
  12. Off the designate topic of domestic affairs, that is. The moderator asks a war on terrror leading question, and Kerry runs with it.
  13. Do you buy them direct through the web site, or are there US dealers?
  14. Damn, I thought maybe you were wrapping up in bubble wrap so you could ship yourself to California.
  15. My coworkers are so productive that I can read DZ.com
  16. I have over 1200 jumps on my Stiletto 135, with no malfunctions. I haven't had a single line twist after about the first 80 jumps, maybe 3 times before that. At first, I wasn't keeping my shoulders level during deployment. The Samurai was nice, more natural on front risers than anything else I've jumped (Xaos21, Katana, Nitron, Stiletto, Hurricane). Its openings were a bit firm for me, but that could likely be fixed by tweaking the slider size or adding a pocket. The Samurai didn't seem to have quite the flare of the Katana, but the proper technique is less similar to my usual canopy than is that for the Katana, so I probably didn't have the Samurai dialed in as well.
  17. I don't know about the Blade. The Nitro was all-around very nice. Bill Von wrote a review about a month ago, and I agree with what he said. The only thing I didn't like about the Nitro was the pack volume. They use that bulky non-slick finish fabric. The 108 started packing maybe the size of a Stiletto 120. By the time I did 15 jumps and picked up a lot of Perris dust, it was almost as tight in the bag as my (dust free) Stiletto 135. Same class as a Stiletto, but openings were more on-heading, a bit more flare, not much oversteer after toggle turns. The PA Nitron is essentially the same canopy as the Nitro, but made with the slick material, so it packs the same volume as similarly sized Stilettos or Katanas.
  18. I jumped the Katana 107 at 1.65:1 and the 120 at 1.47:1, each about 8-10 times. I found them to open a bit softer and more on-heading than my Stiletto, but not as on-heading as a Samurai or Nitro. The opening is slightly longer than I like, wheras my Stiletto has been more like I want, and the Nitro was perfect. I didn't particularly take note of the oversteer on toggles, as it is no more than the Stiletto I've been jumping. I wasn't totally happy with the stability of the front riser performance, but pressure was light.
  19. I was on one, in 1977 or so. Can't remember the exact grips, but basically as follows: Person in the center, cluster of other jumpers around him, forming a dense saucer, but only to his sides and legs. Some lightweight swoops in an lands on the center's back. As he/she stands up on the center's back, two more belly flyers move in, one docking on each hand of the person standing. Everyone except the one standing in on their belly.
  20. Proably not. Depends. If they climbed a tree, or searched for a long time, I'd certain return the favor somehow. I chased someone's chopped main on a big way, landed in a slight downwind to keep an eye on it, walked a ways to get it, walked a long way after getting it (with all my gear) on a hot day. All I got was a thank you, from someone I barely knew, which was fine. A pack job would have been nice, though, as I was tired and rushed for the next load. When someone I barely knew at my home DZ couldn't find his chopped main, I took him up in the airplane I rent by the minute. He did offer to cover the cost. We found it, which was reward enough for me, no payment required.
  21. Eddie, are you listening? My individual tutoring didn't seem to have much of an effect. Let's cover effect and affect, while we are at it.
