A lot of routine maintenance has become a real PITA. Specifically, changing the air filter on my turbo Passat engine is not the 2-4 minute job it should be; lotsa stuff has to be removed and replaced. I do most of my oil changes, since I can just about do that in the time I can take the car to someone else. Tire rotation? I thought tires rotated as you drive down the road. I'll probably do my next brake job, since it is not complicated and doesn't take long, and new rotors and pads all around are less than half of the cost at a shop.

Who's going to the Texas two step 80 ways?
headoverheels replied to mirage62's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Can't make it; jury duty and other travel. I wish the invite would have gone out earlier (okay, maybe they had to start scraping the bottom of barrel before I got one), so I could have planned around the event. -
The Disney version will be made-for-TV, a two hour special. 99.7% advertisements.

I used to sell plasma when I was a student at Georgia Tech, circa 1974. In those days, I think I was probably getting $4 per time, which was enough to buy a ticket to 7200 feet. After they centrifuge the blood to remove the plasma, they put the rest back into your arm. One day, I watched an air bubble go back into my arm with the blood. That was the last time I sold plasma.

Still $100 to 13000 where I jump, although I've seen that 13k be more like 12k or lower, as the end of the day nears with a backlog of tandems to compete.

The why not stick with the Sabre2, or demo a Pilot? I purchased a Pilot for on-heading openings when doing bigways. I expected a real dog, since I had been jumping my Katana, and a Stiletto before that. but was pleasantly surprised by the Pilot's flight characteristics. I've never jumped a Sabre2.

Jack and Jill went up to hill to fetch a pail of water. Jill came down with a ten dollar bill, for doing what she shouldn't oughta.

Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian
headoverheels replied to gjhdiver's topic in Speakers Corner
That was just a joke, since actually God was created in Man's image. -
I have had line twists a few times; it can be very exciting. As far as I know, the size of the lines will not affect whether you get twists.

I find that openings on my Katana are less predictable than those on my Stiletto. However, it is a Katana 107 and was a Stiletto 135, so maybe more sensitive to body position.

$7.99 in CA, or $4.99 for the non-reserve. So, we may not be able to afford a house out here, but we can drink enough not to care.

You wouldn't be making nearly so much without your union, or you wouldn't be a member. Even in CA, that's above average income, for below average hours (unless you were doing 60+ hour weeks for those 8 months). Other than self-employed, I've never had a real job that paid for overtime even as straight time (I'm not counting pumping gas or working at McDonalds here), much less as time and a half. Good point you make about the $10 per hour around here. I don't see how those folks make it, even with 4 earners in a small household.

State Farm Life Insurance
headoverheels replied to BlindBrick's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Is that $1 per year per $1k? If so, doesn't look bad to me. Of course, my coverage through my professional society had no exclusions and no extra payment. -

Looks like you made a punctuation error. I'm sure that you meant Sticky Women.

How do you know when your a dyslexic schizophrenic?
headoverheels replied to gofast_ER's topic in The Bonfire
You mix up "your" and "you're"? -
I cooked up some mustard greens this weekend, with a small amount of chicken stock, olive oil with roasted garlic, some onion, and a pasilla pepper. Yum. As someone mentioned, collards are only good after the first frost. Collards also are tougher in general, so take more cooking.

I don't buy it if I feel that I need full coverage for it.

We had loads of zapper entertainment in Thailand at the 400 way. Every morning, the hotel doorman would be using a rechargable zapper, shaped like a small tennis racquet, to zap mosquitos around the hotel entryway. Several skydivers bought zappers and provided entertainment at the DZ. They really sizzle up nice!

I swallowed one of my gold crowns, should I...
headoverheels replied to Johnsisland's topic in The Bonfire
If the crown just came loose, and is intact, it can be glued back on in a few minutes. It and the tooth stump have not changed shape. I just had this done (but I didn't run it through my body first!). -
This is probably what she meant.

Why is it that people complain about photos of dead journalists, soldiers, and others, but don't have a problem showing photos of a dead terrorist?
