Would the Skyhook RSL prevent a bag lock?
karlm replied to Hawkins121's topic in Safety and Training
If you have a bag lock on your reserve, not SkyHook, RSL or AAD will help you, that is a packing issue. Unless there was interference with the freebag or spring loaded pilot chute, by the risers, main pilot chute or the jumpers body. The SkyHook will still work effectively during a main bag lock, and you will be a fair bit away from the falling bag during reserve inflation and flight. Listern to the Bill Booth interview on www.skydiveradio.com he chats about the SkyHook and the advantages / disadvantages of it. So far the SkyHook has had an impressive few months with alot of live demos, and a whole bunch of saves. I have three Tandem Reserve Rides, and each time the SkyHook worked like a dream, beat me to the silver each time. Only thing dont do a sudden 180 turn, as you might fly into your main. I have a DVD of Guano Freefly (www.guanofreefly.com), I worked at SkyDance in Cali and they trained out there for the summer, they placed 2nd at the US NAtionals and got third at the World Cup, the DVD as a ton of footage, training, playing, world records, nationals etc. I will be comming past your home DZ in the next few weeks, and will bring it with me. The guys on the team are amazing freeflyers and coaches. Pete Galli did alot of tandem video for me, and is without a doubt one of the best in the bizz. Go take a look at their website, mail them for info and ask Pete real nice if you can buy, copy or steal a copy of the Guano DVD. Fat Grippers work for blocks and are more effective to pick-up in the door on exit or while in the dive. Other than that I doubt if they serve any other real purpose. Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there.

Correct the "Majik Pleeted Mega Bootie" is the one to go for, I have noticed an increased amount of effectiveness and drive either while turning or tracking. The basic idea is it keeps the bootie stiff, which means more effective air flow management on the legs. Theses are the options I got on my NEW Suit: - Mega Pleeted Booties - Fat Grippers - Inside leg grippers - Cordura Grips - Cordura Knees - Cordura seat - Cordura booties - Cool Max Lining They are by far the best suit above the earth

I have been down this road and lost the most valuable person in my life, keep your relationships off the DZ, and your hands off fellow jumpers. It will only end in a bad way. Ask me I know! It is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all. Your an amazing women Beverly and you will find peace and happiness in your life, you soul loves like no other. Congrat's Tonto As I embark on my 1000 jump this weekend. I can still remember the solid trust and security I had in you as I left the aircraft on my 1st AFF. In the past few years we have shared laughs, sadness and debate. I look forward to the next 20yrs with you in our sport. Hey All Thanks once again for all the input, does seem that there is a general view on this. If a team member wants to leave due to a "better" offer, there is very little on can do about it. Rather focus the energy inwards towards the team and make it fun to skydive. I agree if your all good friends, even if one leave for a "better" opportunity there will be all the support and understanding, from the team. I would never force a team member to stay, irrespective of agreed commitment etc. Good luck to all those training for their Nationals. Thanks for all the responses. Looks like I might be takign this whole thing a bit to personal We cannot make people skydive with us and if they choose to move to "greener pastures" then I suppose we should let them. Teams change people move, and it all come back to the one basic element we all look for. To skydive in a team we feel will be beneficial to our education, our goals and to have fun doing it. To all those in a competitive team - Good Luck for the 2005 Season. Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there.

Hi Mike You are correct, the combination of spirit, togetherness and ability to function as a team will forever be the stronger force. My team is solid with a good commitment. I am not to worried as I know my team mate will not leave, but I cannot but wonder about the integrity of the team or coach willing to steal other players. I am not going to get into too many specifics as this is not the place, I was just curious as to the viewpoint of the dz.com community. There are great teams out there and there will be great teams to come in the future, and nothing can beat a good competition, between some real solid teams. Thats what I live for. Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there.

I believe that if somebody is in a team they cannot be touched, if they on their own talk or have meetings with an alternative team it's fine. But to openly approach and talk to a committed team member, thats just not ethical. No one can blame a team for shopping around if they need a new member, but one can take issue with them approaching jumpers already in teams. It all depends on how it is approached. Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there.

Yip, besides taking the poached member aside and "B*&th Slapping" them, for their lack of loyalty and commitment. I for one will have a good go at the person doing the poaching, in my opinion it's a major ethical issue. Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there.
-
Is it ethical to steal/poach a member of a team that is already in place and training? If you were in a committed team, and you knew that a team was looking to steal/poach or approach a member for your 4-Way, how would you feel? Would you take the person who was doing the stealing/poaching to task? Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there.
