  1. ...you get Warsteiner minikegs in the U.S.? one of the worst german beers? Hm, seems to me that the breweries here export the stuff they can't sell in Germany. Are there other german beers tu buy in the U.S.? Becks and Löwenbräu i guess, and WUAAHHHsteiner but what else? hello from munich, m
  2. Got the confirmation from my DZ and start with the course in two weeks! Can't await it! My question: How long does it usually take to complete the 7 AFF levels? I've asked different people and some made it in a week, for some others it took a whole season (due to bad weather and lack of time). I've planned to camp at the DZ as long as it takes (DZ is 50 miles away) but my boss won't give me more than 2 weeks of free time. how long did it take you folks? thankx, m
  3. I'm sure you will! Have a good time and try to relax, m
  4. hm, when i see freaks like that i always wonder what comes next. not only that it looks so stupid, i'm sure this guy also lost his ability to taste food or taste anything. here in germany, branding cows is forbidden because it's considered as unnescessary cruelty to animals. but it's ok for humans, if they want so. but imo this guy should pierce/splice/cut whatever he want's to as long he's not harming other people. god has a big zoo! m
  5. how was it for you? good or bad feeling? m
  6. hm, what scared me most? The Shining, which i consider still one of the best horromovies. and Clockwork Orange, not a real horrormovie, more about the horror of life is one of the films, where you have to be in a very good mood to watch it til end.
  7. Hi ryoder! I do not require entertainment while skydiving, because skydiving IS the best entertainment i've ever had! I just wanted to find out if it is possible and if there are people who tried this. I also made this post, because i'm interessted in the musical taste of the folks here. Thanx, m
  8. I'm doing this for ME, not for other people. My friends can't understand anyway why people skydive, they think i have suicidal tendencies. Hope i can convince them to try a Tandem. have a good time, m
  9. hm, you're right. trance beeps might be a problem
  10. I’m planning to begin my AFF Course in the next three weeks. I can’t await my first solo jump and the feeling i will have then. But i’m also often thinking of the risks this sport has and that can’t be denied. But risks are everywhere. I’d like to share with you, what happened to me this morning: Beside the place i’m working, a new house is build up and they use a big crane to lift up all the materials needed. As this new house has not yet an adress, i’ll get the owners post on my table and bring it to him everyday. And when i walk over to him i’ll have to go under that crane, because there is no other way. Today, they just wanted to lift some pre-build concrete staircases, that were very massive and heavy. And one of the workers said „Oh, when they’re to heavy, the crane will stop automatically“. Next thing i heard was a big bang and the whole f***ing crane came down! And hit the ground on the spot i’ve stood on 2 minutes before. Nobody was injured but something like this has never happened to me before. Just this 2 minutes made the difference for me. This happened 3 hours ago and i still feel very strange now. But my ‚natural‘ fear of leaving a plane for the first time alone became somehow smaller. Also i consider the chance of having an accident in the air not that big anymore as i did before. Please, excuse my bad English but i’ve left school centuries ago. I’ll go home now and have a beer or two to come down a little bit. Blue skies, no cranes, m
  11. but when these beeps tell you "hey dumbass, you forgot to pull", isn't it too late anyway? i have no audible altimeter, but i'm sure you can send these signal beeps from the altimeter also directly to your headphone.
  12. My MP3-player is a Zen Nomad Jukebox with 20GB HD, and i've copied nearly my whole music collection on it. Have also made some own techno/trance tracks that are very fast in the first 50 sec. and very relaxing in the next 5 minutes. Hm, the fast part of 'One' from Metallica would be very cool.
  13. newbie question: is anyone here listening to his/her favourite music while falling? how do you do that? simply attach headphones with some power tape to your helmet? and what is your favourite music while falling? blue skies, m
  14. Marx/Engels/Lenin: Communist Manifesto Nietzsche: The Antichrist Hofstadter, Douglas: Gödel, Escher, Bach
  15. I'm sure there are. Same situation like here. The big breweries like Becks or Löwenbräu are also not really my kind of taste. But if you look in small towns on the countryside, you can find very good beers. Often brewed just for one pub or restaurant.
  16. I'll start my AFF-Courses in July or August. My dropzone is 50 miles away from my home so i'll have to see if my boss is giving me some holidays so that i can camp beside the dropzone for one or two weeks. But i'm sure he does. He'd like to jump himself but no way with his 250 pounds. Maybe with tandem gear How long did it take you to complete the AFF/7 Levels and get your license? m
  17. Hi! I'm from Munich, Germany, the City of Beer (I'm sure you all know the Oktoberfest). Why are you brewing beer yourself? Because of the fun or is the beer in the U.S. that bad? A good friend of mine is 'Braumeister' at one of the big breweries in Munich. And for our partys, he brews a special beer called "Weissbierdoppelbock" which has a dark colour and a very mild taste. And because of the mild taste, nobody recognizes that there are 9% of alcohol in it. Is 'homebrewing' very popular in the U.S.? Here in Germany virtually nobody's brewing at home, since there are alone in Bavaria about 800 breweries. This is my favourite brewerie in Munich: http://www.augustiner-braeu.de bs, m
  18. Hi! I'm new in skydiving and i'll start with the training in two weeks. My Question: Are there any videos (best would be videos of AFF-Training) in the www for free download? Maybe this could help me studying typical movements, procedures, mistakes etc. But i'm interessted in any skydiving videos! Who knows some URLs and wants to tell me? Thanx!
  19. Thanks for the warm welcome! @ BlueEyedMonster: Gut gehts! Where did you learn German? You're the first person in the whole www, who understood my nickname bs! m
  20. Hi! for the south of Germany see http://www.limesballooning.de (in german). bs, m
  21. Hello Everybody! Just made my first jump as a passenger on June, 19th and I think i've found a real passion! Never felt something like that! This forum seems to be a good place for a beginner like me to ask questions and to learn about experiences of others. About me: I'm 29 years old, m, living in Munich, Germany. I spend most of my spare time making music (Jazz, Funk, Soul, Classical Music) but now this will change a little bit. Best wishes to you all, cptfunky
